General Discussion

Talk about anything here! Well, ALMOST anything. This IS a family site, ya know... =)

  1. From my all time favorite movie - Smokey & The Bandit, we have lost the "great" Jerry Reed. I don't know what to say. I am actually very sad. Loved his music and his movie roles. He will be missed by all the fans. RIP Jerry Reed http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/09/02/obit.reed.ap/index.html I'm gone Darrell

I think the Confederate flag is the most misunderstood flag ever. Everyone thinks you're prejudice if you display it but that's not what it means, at least not in my mind. To me it's always been the flag of the southern states and represents a part of our country, history, and heritage. What do y'all think?

I wasn't his BIGGEST fan, but I did love this guy...and I still can't believe he's gone. He was an amazing man, and he will be missed. ='[ <3R.I.P<3

If you played a part in the DOH wich character do you think you'd be?? I think I'd be either Rosco or Daisy..... Rosco because my friends always say i'm funny and i'm a very random person. I also can be pretty stupid sometimes..lol! Daisy because i'm a girl...lol...and i'm a tough girl at that......I have brown hair, I can be smart sometimes too....hehe and i am almost the same height as her...lol! Who would ya'll be?

Hey, If y'all are bored here's a young Bo type of game that I'm sure you'll get a kick out of. Type a random word as a text message into your cell/mobile phone. Then, scroll through your phone book without looking randomly hit send. DO NOT LOOK AT WHO YOU SENT IT TO! Wait for a response and see what they say to find out who you sent it to! Then post all the responses you get on here.

General Grant wrote a post recently that made me wonder if any of ya'all would want to share the story of the first time you fell in love with the Dukes. I was going to truck driving school for the USMC (Reserves) in Camp Lejeune North Carolina when the series first came out. Everybody was talking about it so I watched it in the rec room of the barracks one Friday evening. From what I remember, it was "High Octane" but I'm not really sure. All I remember is that it was the best show I'd ever seen. What a great balance of everything entertaining.....action, drama, family, plot, romance, great acting and actors, etc!!! From the moment I first laid eyes on the show, I was h…

For those who are interested and I'm sure some folks here will be, John Schneider has created a Yee Haaa ring tone. He is selling it on E-Bay for a couple of bucks. Just look for hazzard-county-swap-meet on Ebay stores or just plain Google it.

Since I know there's a few Confederate War historians here on the Hazzardnet I thought I'd share this story that I ran across in the Erie (PA) Times-News earlier this week. Most of us look at the Civil War as ancient history, but this story made me realize it's not that ancient after all. When I saw the obituary of Maudie White Hopkins and it was sub-titled "Was Widow of Confederate soldier" I thought for sure that it was a misprint. I was wrong. The story is out of Little Rock, Arkansas. Mrs. Hopkins died a few days ago at the age of 93. When she was young she began taking care of William Cantrell. He offered to give her his land and home if she would marry him and ta…

Hey y'all... Just wanted to mention that on Saturday, August 16, 2008 it will mark twenty-three years since CBS aired the last episode of The Dukes of Hazzard...meaning August 16, 1985 was when the last episode of the Dukes was originally aired. Good thing TNN and CMT had picked up the reruns and had aired them as long as they did to gather new Duke fans and to reignite interest in the fans that had been watching when the show had originally aired. In the latest Country Weekly, there is an article and a nice picture of Bo and Luke sitting in and on the hood of The General Lee - it is a nice picture of the boy and an interesting article. It is in the issue of August 25, 2…

For a long time now I've tried to convince my family and friends that the Dukes of Hazzard is not a ficticious television show with actors. It's reality. There really is a Hazzard County and all them folks you see on it were just being themselves while they were being filmed....just like on modern reality shows. After all these years I finally heard a quote that proves it. (I've heard this quote before but I guess it didn't sink in) It comes from Luke and it's when a Hollywood producer was trying to get the Dukes to come to California to be in a film. Luke's response was "Well, that's real flattering of y'all but we ain't done no acting." See, there it is....proof that …

I'm wondering how many songs there are that mention Dukes of Hazzard related things. I can think of four. Who can come up with more? Here's mine: 1) "What was I thinking" by Deirks Bentley "hood sliding like Bo Duke" 2) "Nineteeneightysomething"..."my first love was Daisy Duke" 3) "Them good old boys are bad" by John Schneider 4) "Nashville Women" by Waylon Jennings "hanging out at the Boar's Nest"

I like to write fanfic at times, and I have one that I did over a year ago, but I'm not sure where to post it at though. I don't have it online anywhere just about. Where could I post it at? can you please also include a link to the area? Jim

I know there is a big controversy over this sport and me posting this new thread, Im hoping I don't get all the animal lovers to jump on my case, cause I know that most people do believe it is a cruel sport. Big Brown won the "Run for the Roses" in the kentucky derby and is going on to the preakness in 2 weeks or so. Also, we lost another great racehorse that day due to the filly's frot ankles being broken because the jokey basically ran her into the railing...Eight Belles was euthanized on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Hopin and prayin nothing goes wrong with Big Brown and he wins the 12th Triple Crown, in the 134th running of the Ky derby. Let's hope he don't go down like …

Hey Y'all! Rosco always treats Flash like Family, afterall, when he wrote his will he gave everything to Flash except of course those things his mamma would want! Anyway, do you have any animals that you feel are just like family? Okay, I'll start... I have a Big Ol' Paint Quarter Horse, Frankie; a miniature, Boomer; a white cat, Ratty; another white cat, Adrian; and my favorite, a black cat KITT. Unfortunately they all live out in the barn. I'd keep them in the house if I could, though! The cats I mean, not the horses! I treat KITT like a king because he deserves it! Anyway, hope y'all don't think I am totally crazy! I get that look when Rosco and Flash come onscreen bec…

Alright everyone. Speedweeks is upon us very soon, teams are testing in Daytona. Another start to the NASCRAP season. Here is a good article I read on frontstretch.com by Matt McLauglin Winning Back Longtime NASCAR Fans : Part I Thinkin' Out Loud · Matt McLaughlin · Thursday January 3, 2008 Editor’s Note: This is Part One of a two-part series by Matt McLaughlin on fixing NASCAR’s future. Part Two will be posted Friday. Towards the end of last season, Brian France gave a press conference concerning the state of the sport of NASCAR. Not unexpectedly, given his position and lack of mental ability, for the most part Mssr. France assured everybody all was well despite t…
