Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was late sixties or early seventies that it was made mandatory for vehicles to have insurance. That said, the enormous question is; what kind of life would the insurance agency for Hazzard have (as in reactions)? I would have been quite interested in seeing an episode of The Dukes of Hazzard in some sort of depiction on an insurance agency and how the agents handled it. If I recall the quotes of one Rosco Coltrane correctly; "Guess they're gonna cancel my insurance now..." Surely the backbone to my thesis stands. Especially if Rosco was running through patrol cars like water on rye.

What was the 'method' used to blow-out/shoot-out a tire on the Dukes of Hazzard? they did it many times.... I figure some type of exploding device, but, wondered if anyone had some more 'specific' details/info?

Which vehicle of Daisy's did you like more? I liked her yellow Charger more than I liked her Jeep. Your thoughts please...

If it had been traditional, there probably would have been an overused laugh track and the show would have tried to be preachy and topical with "very special episodes"

We all remember from the first Dukes reunion movie Rosco became Boss, Would anyone out there like to see Hughie as Boss ? If They make another reunion movie, I would even though I'd love to pound the hay out of him for what he did to the Duke's in the past it seems fit the Hughie should become Hazzard's new Boss. What are y'alls thoughts about this ?

On High Octane, I see a Ford flareside-don't know what year. In some episodes I saw a 1/2 ton, then a few minutes later a 3/4 ton. In most episodes he has a 73-75 Ford, but in Trouble at Cooter's he had a 76-77 for a couple of scenes. Why was this done? Is it because they thought no one would notice? Or was it done to make the show goofier, therefore adding to the comedy? Another example of this is in High Octane the lady revenue agent has a Ford Granada with round headlights. Next scene she's driving a newer Granada with sqaure headlights.

Is there a story behind this? I have always guessed that maybe they decided that the car was redundant, being basically the same thing as the General Lee, the only real difference being the body panels. I have also thought that maybe they decided that having off-road capability (4WD Jeep) in the family's car stable could be beneficial to future storylines. Another thing about that car; at what point did the idea that the car belonged to Daisy come into being? In the first couple of episodes I believe it was stated or implied that the car belonged to Bo and Luke; like when the balladeer stated that the boys had another car but they took the General Lee when they were expe…

I have a suggestion. Why don't we have a Dukes Of Hazzard Holiday? We could decide what day it will be and what we will do to celebrate the greatest show ever to be on TV. We could celebrate it every year....same day, month etc.

In "Return of the Ridge Runners", Jesse tells Bo and Luke to go to Aunt Lavinia's place. Luke then mentions that the two haven't spoken in 20 years. But I thought that Aunt Lavinia was Jesse's late wife. This confuses me.

Maybe it's not as evident in the first season, but in Ghost of General Lee and several episodes after that, you can really see a caring side to Rosco that you don't see often...his face when the General is jumping into the pond in Ghost of General Lee (although it wasn't Bo and Luke) but you can really see he actually does like the Duke Boys, he enjoys the chase, he wouldn't actually want to hurt them at all. Does anyone like this side to Rosco? I really do.

Anybody else ever wonder how long of a trip it was from Hazzard to Atlanta?

Can anyone provide episode titles that feature Cooter's brown chevy tow truck? I believe its just season one but I could be wrong. I know its featured heavily in Repo Men, but I need to know the others. Thanks in advance for any help! Mark

When/why did they start using the remote/radio cars for the jumps? Man...it looks so bad and fake....that's why I don't watch the later seasons. ruined the show....I remember Tom talking and being disgusted about it.

Just wondering who everybody's favourite (I'm English - we spell it that way:)) guest stars/cameos were. I mentioned in another post that mine were Henry Gibson, Charles Napier and Robert Alda. They all looked like they enjoyed playing their parts. It was also good to see Mel Tillis who was in a few films around that time including Cannonball Run, SATB 2, and Every Which Way But Loose. There were also dozens of familiar faces, mainly crooks, who have me diving for IMDb to find out where I know them from (am I the only one who does this?). Usually it turns out they were in one or more of the following: A-Team; Knight Rider; CHiPs; Fall Guy etc.

I was 7 years old when the show 1st aired in '79. I loved Smokey & The Bandit "original movie" but hadn't seen it & that age yet. This show was the best thing since catfish and hush-puppies for S&B fans on a weekly basis. The 1st 5 episodes are the only shows that I recognize. When they moved it to Hollywood it just went down hill from there on. I'll give them credit & 1st they tried to @ least make a effort for 1 or 2 shows for it to appear to be Georgia or a "real town" with paved roads, etc but the plot changed, from what I remember they picked up new writers, producers, etc. based on behind the scenes specials about the show. Those '05 and '07 didn't get a very well reception among a majority of the fans of REAL Dukes. Doesn't matter who's casted or if it follows the same morals and values. I really feel that there were certain common things that the Dukes of Hazzard and the Prime Time Soap Dallas mutually shared. I've always felt strongly about this and this is the first time I'm sharing these thoughts. I've noticed strange reflections on some scenes, the ending has a few of them i believe , it's like the cameras were filming behind a lens or something what was that? have you noticed that ? Mostly on chases and car scenes

I'd like very much to see the 2 Reunion of 1997 and 2000. Unfortunately, when they were aired here in Italy, I didn't know so I didn't saw them. I'm waiting for Dvds or Vhs but nothing yet. I found only Vhs on internet but they are not compatible with the italian Vhs players. Someone can help me, telling me where I can find them? Thanks so much!
