Not only is he a much better jumper but the General also has personality. In addition, he is the most recognized car in the history of the world.

Great response Tim. I agree completely.

Hi Eleonora, Welcome to the Hazzardnet. I haven't been here that long myself but for people like us who really love the Dukes this is the place to be. The people here really make Hazzard come alive. To us, Hazzard is not a fantasy, it's who we are. It's nice to have a new member of the community. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.

Bo, Luke and Daisy, Now, I know he's not your favorite cousin but don't forget that today (April 17) is Coy's birthday. He's not my favorite nephew either but he's still kinfolk so git on you CB and give him a holler. Happy Birthday Coy, Uncle Jesse

You are right. I should have worded it "other counties and towns" so you could tell I intend to distinguish it on my map. It is very difficult to tell if a town is in Hazzard County or not if the show doesn't specify that it is. If the town is large I figure it's not in Hazzard County. That's just one of the problems I have to deal with. I'm sure if all Dukes fans made a map, they'd all look a lot different. I see in season 3 some businesses are in different locations in town and some have left completely and turned into other things. I guess in that case, I have to go with the most current version and conclude that there is change everywhere....even in Hazzard.

My thinking was that the General is a 1969 and Carnival of Thrills is from 1980 which is 11 years later. You are right though in the respect that he wasn't known as "The General" until the Dukes and Cooter rebuilt him. In regards to the odometer going back to zero with the engine being rebuilt, I'm not sure that's correct but maybe a mechanic (hopefully Cooter is home on this Hazzardnet) can settle it. I'm not going to bet you though. I already lost one buttermilk to you in a bet I lost. I don't want to loose another one. Possum on a gumbush, I'm gone.

Problem with Season 4 DVD
RogerDuke replied to Lancashire_Lost_Sheep's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
On season two, disc 4 all my episodes but one are messed up. Each episode works for part of the show but not all. -
I just noticed on the General Lee's odometer in Carnival of Thrills (part 2) it said 32047 miles. Coincidently the General's license plate starts with 320 and they were practicing for a 32 car jump. Anyhow, has anybody else ever noticed any other odometer readings in any other episodes? 32,000 isn't many miles for a car that was 11 years old at that time...unless the odometer had turned over. Since we don't know alot about the General before the episode "Happy Birthday General Lee" I wonder if anybody would care to speculate if it's 32,000 or 132,000. I'm gone.

I think I would rather be a fantasy character than one that's really been on the show. I'd like to be Uncle Jesse's younger cousin who owns a farm on a road that runs parallel to Mill Pond Road. The back of my farmland borders the back 40 of the Dukes farm and I have trails that connect our two places so I can ride my Yamaha dirt bike between the two homes. (The bike would be just like the one that Sonny Shroyer had in "Devil and Max Devlin" with Bill Cosby). I'd spend a lot of time with Jesse helping on the farm and listening to all the wise advice he has to offer. Once in awhile we'd run over to Hazzard Swamp and catch us some crawdads so he could make up a batch of that crawdad bisque. Who knows, maybe even Rosco and Enos will get a whiff of that while chasing the General (and Dixie) around and they'll call a temporary truce so we can all sit a spell. Mmmm. Life in Hazzard County is good.

After watching the first two seasons I have recorded this many items in my quest to put together the ultimate map of Hazzard County Residents-62 (Homes and not individuals) Businesses-54 Roads-49 Landmarks-14 (Canyons, mountains, mines, etc) Water-22 (Swamps, creeks, ponds, lakes etc) Other Counties-20 (Includes other towns too) 5 more seasons to go !!!!

from RIP Henry Flatt. "Enos, do you know what one casket said to the other casket? Is that you coffin?"
-
Hopefully he was smart enough to save all those comic books (like on R.I.P Henry Flatt and Welcome Waylon Jennings) Some of those are worth a lot of money now. By the way, your comment about Cletus cracked me up....lol!!

The lady that played the female robber in that episode is Janie Fricke (probably spelled it wrong). She was a pretty well know country singer at that time. Since she played a "bad girl" I guess they didn't let her sing at the end.

Has anybody had any experience sending defective DVDs back to Warner Brothers to get replacements? I'm concerned about not having the receipts plus I let them set around awhile and there may be a time limit on returns.

This isn't really a Jesse quote but one about him from Waylon in "Mason Dixon's Girls." "When a man like old Jesse talks you just tend to believe it no matter how strange the story is. That's something they call integrity."
-
All your Hazzard County friends feel bad for you. Under these circumstances there's not much we can say except we're here for you and most of us know what you're going through. Spend the next few days being a little selfish and only focus on getting better. Surround yourself with people who understand and get all that pain out by talking to them. Roger

This is one of my favorite episodes. It's hard to decide which prequel is best, this or "Go West Young Dukes".

Poll for Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning
RogerDuke replied to Meadowmufn's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
The real Uncle Jesse wouldn't have made it through the first ten minutes of this movie without turning it off, throwing it in the garbage, and slipping in a DVD of his real kinfolk. That's because he cares about the integrity and reputation of his community and family. That's what Hazzard County is all about. I can't figure out what this new movie is all about but I know it's not about The Dukes of Hazzard. -
What is Cooter jawin' about?
RogerDuke replied to redgreenbluegil's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Episodes
You are awesome Meadowmuffin. I guess that's why you are the Supreme Superior Commander. That's one of my favorite episodes because of Abraham Lincoln Hogg. He reminds me so much of Enos on that show because he is so genuinely good. Now, I have to go watch it just for that one part. By the way, how are you at interpreting some of Flash's barks? Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone. -
Happy birthday MaryAnne. Since Bo's birthday was yesterday and the Boar's Nest was closed for Easter, I guess I'll be shelling out money for two buttermilks at our favorite watering hole later today. I'm gone.

Happy birthday Bo. I'll buy you a buttermilk at the Boar's Nest. See ya there after chores. YEHAWW!!!!!

Here's another thought to throw into the mix. Whenever people think about how ethanol is going to save us all, they don't consider the ammount of energy used make it. Farms don't run on sweat, hand tools and Maudeen the mule anymore (thank goodnes at least Uncle Jesse is still doing it like that). They need lots of oil and oil based products. If ethanol replaces some of that oil then more farms are going to be needed to make more corn and it will spiral from there. I remember a quote from Waylon in an episode from season two that went something like this, " If you're going to sell your pig feed to buy more pigs then you're not going to be in the pig business very long." Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.

Hey Meadowmuffin, I had my brother-in-Law Dan help me put up an avatar since my computer skills are so bad. I decided to use Uncle Jesse to scare away the 666 thing you started. He's such a good guy, anything evil will run for it's life when he pulls up in his white pick-up truck. Actually I'm using him because he's my favorite character.....WWJD What would (Uncle) Jesse Do? The answer is clear...he'd do what's right.

Some of the inconsistencies can be difficult to deal with. For example, on "The Runaway", Mabel Tillingham says the Dukes live on Mill Pond Road which is 18 miles from Hazzard. Two episodes later, Lester Crabb (Treasure of Hazzard) says they live on Mill Road. For my map, I'm going with Mill Pond Road because I trust the phone operator more than a visiting sheriff that was only there one episode and probably left a word out. Also, "Mill Pond" is mentioned in other episodes. Speaking of inconsistencies, Mabel Tillingham is listed as Myrtle Tillingham on the closing credits. I'll trust the folks of Hazzard more than the credits on that one.

My favorite episodes are the original Georgia shows...also, any episode that focuses on Enos or Uncle Jesse. I also really loved Happy Birthday General Lee, Find Loretta Lynn, Baa Baa White Sheep, Welcome Waylon Jennings, Go West Young Dukes, but welcome Back Bo 'n' Luke is probably my all time favorite though because I sure missed those good 'ole boys. I'm gone.
