  1. Here's a tough ethical question for you. On September 18, 1993 Tom Wopat came to my small northwestern Pennsylvania town to give a concert at our fair. Of course I met him afterward and got a couple autographs, pictures etc. Before the concert, he pulled up to the stage by himself driving a Chevy Suburban type vehicle (I'm not exactly sure what it was). After the concert, I was pulling out of the gas station and (you guessed it), he came driving by all by himself in that same vehicle. Since I was going the other way I just said to myself "Wow, that was cool seeing him one last time" and continued on my way. Half way home I realized, I should have followed him and passed him just to exaggerate and say I beat Luke Duke in a race. I just blew a chance of a lifetime. My question is this..what should I have done if he would have started racing when I passed him? The easy answer is to say "race" but then there's the possibility of the unthinkable happening (no, not me losing)..Tom getting hurt or worse. My question is, what would you have done if he started driving fast? Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone. RogerDuke
  2. Thanks for the advice. I'm heading there now. I'm gone.
  3. Welcome to the Hazzardnet SulphurOxide. I'm pretty new myself even though I've been a fans of the Dukes since they first came out. If you really love Hazzard County, this is the place to be. The folks here are full of southern hospitality.
  4. These last two posts....now that's what's the Dukes of Hazzard is all about. Thanks for making me smile (twice) you two.
  5. Well, if you were depressed, getting back to your friends here in Hazzard should be the way to fix it. If I ever get down, I just plan on plugging into the Hazzardnet and checking out that picture of Flash you have posted. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.
  6. I don't get this question. What do you mean, IF Hazzard was real? Of course it's real. Anybody who thinks it's not is living in a fantasy world. I think I'll post a new question to them. Who would you be in a non-Hazzard universe if it was real? Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.
  7. Nascar...we have a Nascar thread on the Hazzardnet? Cool. One of you Nascar experts should post a special section on Cale Yarborough.
  8. Hey GADuke01.....great quote "Oh how I long for the mere awfullness of the first film in comparison with this" It's pretty clear that the writers of these new Dukes adventures (I hate to call it Dukes) are not fans of the real show. Well..maybe they're casual fans but they certainly don't understand what Uncle Jesse and his family stood for. They're clearly not fans to the extent that they want what is best for the reputation of Hazzard County and it's residents.....people like us who know that Hazzard is not a fantasy, it's a way of life. Possum on a gumbush, I'm gone sheriff.
  9. Obviously they both have character traits that make them both lovable. Back in the days of the original series I liked Enos more because he was so pure and simplistic. I have high morals like Enos but I'm complicated so I was always drawn to his refreshing simplistic personality. And of course, when he got his own series he showed everybody how smart he really was. Rosco... now how can anybody not love him? I just can't decide. I guess I'll pick Enos since he was my favorite in the old days. (Uncle Jesse is my favorite now that I'm getting older) Questions like that are tough. It's like asking what do you like more, ice cream or pizza? I guess it depends on what kind of mood you're in at the time. RogerDuke. Possum on a gumbush, I'm gone.
  10. I'm almost 47 and fell in love with Hazzard County at 19 when it first came out so I've lived a lot more than you but that only means so much. No matter how people try to be open-minded, the truth is that nobody completely succeeds. Although there are many exceptions, younger people do have a tendency to be more open minded. You certainly taught this middle aged redneck something with that post so keep up the good work. Speaking of being closed minded, I used to think computers were bad. Now that I've recently learned to use one of these contraptions, I have found at least one good use for them. By the way, I live in the woods of northwestern Pennsylvania. The only thing in life more important to me than Dukes is God and family. Now that I've found a home on the Hazzardnet, you'll be hearing a lot from me. Roger I'm gone.
  11. Hey Tim, Great quote by the real Bo. I love it! I love it! I love it!
  12. Hey Lukas, (or anybody else for that matter) As you know, I'm new to this thing but I have a good story about the time I met Tom Wopat. Help me out with the standard procedure here. Should I A) put the story on this thread put the story on a thread related to Tom Wopat C) send it to you under private mail D) use channel 22 on my CB "Possum on a gumbush"
  13. Hey, BoJamesDuke, nice post! I used to think that the alien episode is the only one I didn't love but now you got me thinking...you're right about Waylon's quote and about helping those who need it. I'm new to the Hazzardnet but I plan on being around for awhile. (I just learned how to use a computer). I plan on paying extra attention to your posts. I like the way you think. You're a true Duke boy. I'm gone.
  14. Dukes, local news, CNN. That's it. Okay, occasionally something educational with a couple CMT videos thrown in. I like watching the Dukes on CMT even though they have commercials and I have all 7 seasons on DVD. It's nice knowing I'm watching the same episode at the same time with other rednecks who love it as much as I do.
  15. Hey Lukas, Yea, you're right, I don't know where that person came up with that county. Plus, there's a lot more than 4 counties that border Hazzard. Thanks for answering my thread. I was hoping I could find someone who had the same interest. I can't talk now but I'll get back to you later. I'm new to Hazzardnet (and new to using computers) but I'm starting to get good at using this contraption. So far, the only thing I've found that it's good for is the Hazzardnet. Catch ya later. RogerDuke
  16. I was also surprised when I heard her say Christmas Day. Now I'm wondering about the other birthdays I have. Does anybody know if these are disputed? Luke-Aug 9 Bo-April 8 Daisy-March 1 Boss-Jan 4 Rosco-July 20 Enos -Aug 28 Waylon-June 15 Coy-April 17 Vance-Feb 21 Does anyone have Lulu's?
  17. I'm currently working on a map myself. I'm watching all the episodes and putting the following on lists 1)people 2)businesses 3) roads 4)water 5)landmarks 6)other counties 7)other misc. I did this when the series came out but now that I have them all on DVD, I can "rewind" something if I didn't hear it clearly which is a huge help. There are many inconsistencies in things but I can work them out to my best judgement. I have to make lots of footnotes for accuracy so that when I actually put it together it will be right. For example, under the people catagory, if I knew the road they lived on, that would added (even though I would also list it under "roads".) I would love to hear from others to share ideas. RogerDuke
  18. On second thought, the saddest scene ever was when Bo and Luke were being mourned because everybody thought they'd drowned. (Ghost of the General Lee-1979)
  19. What's the deal with that song? I really loved it this past Christmas. It sounds old but I'm almost 47 and I'd never heard it before. Off the subject, to me the saddest single scene that was ever on Dukes was on the Christmas show (The Great Santa Claus Chase) when Boss was at the Boar's Nest by himself.
  20. Charlie Daniels Band is my favorite. I'd vote for that man for President...unless he was running against Uncle Jesse. My favorite Charlie songs are "Simple Man" and "What the world needs is a few more Rednecks" Waylon and both Hanks are tied for second.
  21. The only tv show besides Dukes I was ever crazy about was Stringray starring Nick Mancuso in the mid 80s. It didn't last long though...maybe because Ray's 65 Corvette didn't jump enough.
  22. I was going to post my opinion of the seventh season but after reading the post before me (Lukas KD) I will just say, ditto....that's exactly how I feel. I noticed that nobody mentioned that the saddest episode was aired that season...the last one.
  23. It looks like my last thread got deleted for some reason so I'll try this again. In the episode when Enos came back from California (Coy and Vance are in it.) Enos mentions an Uncle Odie. I talked to him about this once because I had an Uncle Odie also and he told me that his father's name in real life is Odie RogerDuke
  24. I remember one episode when I was watching the originals where they showed the boarding house where Enos lived and I'm certain they said the name of the road it was on. I'm rewatching all the shows and I'll run across it eventually. I'm especially interested because I'm making a map of Hazzard County and town (see the "hobbies" thread) and during the originals, Enos was my favorite character so I paid extra attention when anything was said about him. I'll post an update when I find it. Also, in the episode (with Coy and Vance) when he returns from California Enos mentions his Uncle Odie. I talked to Sonny personally and told hime I also had an Uncle Odie. He said that his father's name (in real life) is Odie. RogerDuke
  25. I can understand your point about times changing but my concern is this. If Dukes going from a G rating to an R rating is considered an improvement then does that mean that if they go from R to X that will be even better? Consider this, The original Georgia episodes were PG but they toned them down to G because they knew the improvement is what would succeed and it was what the majority wanted. It's what the majority still wants. Not many people wanted to see Uncle Jesse smoking pot in the last R rated movie. Even fewer will want to see Willie Nelson naked in the X-rated one. RogerDuke
