  1. I'm too ugly to be on Facebook so I don't know too much about how it works. I will say this...picking the fan of the month is a tough job. There's so many different things to consider. After the regulars have received it you then have to pick from folks who look like they have the potential to be big contributers VS someone who used to be a big contributer but doesn't get on that much anymore. Once the award is received it isn't given to that recipient again so you're left between picking folks who don't post on a regular basis (and sometimes you don't feel like they have done enough to deserve it so you're reluctant to honor them) VS folks who are big Dukes fans but log in even less. That goes back to the problem of who deserves it. If a person had thousands of posts but most of them were in the non-Dukes threads would they deserve it over someone who has a hundred posts in the threads that were more strongly related to the show? It's not easy to maintain the award for years and years. Is the solution to give multiple award to the same person? That seems like a good idea but that would create it's own set of problems. An annual award seems like it's not enough but a monthly one is tough to do unless you honor outsiders like Brian is suggesting. You simply run out of worthy people. Whatever MM does I'll respect because I understand what a difficult decision it is. It's one of those decisions that could be easy to criticize until a person puts some thought into it and looks at both sides. Thanks for asking our opinions. I'll be fine with whatever is decided and I hope others will be as well.
  2. It looks like my hopes for the northern Georgia boy are fading away for this year. At least he's young. I suppose I should probably start liking two drivers or following the rest of the season is going to be pretty boring. Since you're such a faithful JG fan maybe I should hope he wins Michigan. Just kidding. GO Jimmie Johnson!

    Dallas

Let us know what you think of it after you watch it Capt Redneck. Hoss, I'm surprised it wasn't available because I figured there would be a big demand for it because, as I recall, it was pretty big over there when it was originally being aired. My wife is just as excited about Dallas as I am. It's nice that we both like it because we don't have a lot of TV shows that we both like. She's not even a big Dukes fan. Oh well, that's pretty much her only fault. It's a big one though but it didn't stop me from marrying her.

I have to hand it to the makers of the new series. They've done a great job with it. TNT is going to be running the first two episodes over so I won't give too much away but J.R., Bobby, Sue Ellen, Ray and Lucy are all back. The producers did a great job of blending the old with the new. Christopher (Bobby's adopted son) and John Ross (JR's son) started right off the bat feuding hard, just like their daddies used to do....it took JR awhile to get going with his latest scheme but once he started he dove in with full force. The show started out with the same music as the original and Southfork Ranch is looking as majestic as always. My early guess is that this new series has success written all over it. It's certainly worth giving it a try even if you weren't a Dallas fan from the get-go. I have to admit, I only became a Dallas fan because it came on after the Dukes. Otherwise I probably never would have watched it. I don't know if I'd like a new series based on the Dukes...it would depend on how it was done....but I sure like the new Dallas.

  7. I think that's a great idea Brian. After all, the recognition is called "Fan of the Month" and not "HazzardNet person of the month". I don't think being a member of the HazzardNet should be a prerequisite (probably spelled that wrong) for being recognized. Let's face it, there's a lot of folks out there who are huge Dukes of Hazzard fans but don't hang out here. Those of us who love this website have a hard time understanding why every Dukes fan isn't a HazzardNet member but instead of racking our brains trying to figure out why they're not here, we should be thankful that there's millions of us on the planet and all that matters is that they love Hazzard as much as we do. I think it would be very interesting and informative to learn about other fans who aren't HazzardNet members. HazzardNet member or not, they're a part of the Hazzard County family and if they believe in Dukes values, they're good folks in my book.

    Dallas

Tonight's the night Dallas fans have been waiting for. Dallas returns to prime time. It will debut on TNT at 9:00 EST. It will be interesting how it will be presented and if it will attract those who used to be fans. Well, I should say.....they've already been attracted to the idea of a new Dallas but the big question is, can it hold their attention? Having J.R., Bobby and Sue Ellen back should help ratings but we'll see if that's enough. I'll post a review right after it airs tonight.
  9. We're sure glad to have you here on the HazzardNet Cooperman! Nice car! We look forward to hearing more from you.
  10. I believe you're right Hoss. Those do look like Honda ATCs. I'm not sure if they're the 250 version or not. Three wheelers were banned in the US because they were determined to be too dangerous. They were replaced with four wheelers, AKA all terrain vehicles (ATVs) Maybe they were banned because the government watched Rosco riding one and determined that not everybody could survive a horrendous crash that "could have kilt ten ordinary men." BTW, I remember when the original 3 wheelers first came out from Honda. The tires were so big and fat the whole thing could float and cross a creek. According to my notebook, the three wheelers were on "Twin Trouble" and not "Days of Shine and Roses" as you mentioned....unless they were on two episodes. I can't imagine those sirens between the horses ears really worked. I suspect the sound was dubbed in. I don't know anything about horses but I don't think they would have behaved well with that blaring.
  11. Mark, we sure appreciate all the announcements of upcoming events. You've been a great asset to the HazzardNet and we're thankful you're here. Brian, thanks for the update on the front page about Ray Kohn. He's a true fan and certainly deserves all the recognition he gets. I'm happy to hear that the show went relatively well.
  12. David Ragen...34th? Shucks, I was hoping he'd have a break-out year but so far he's been struggling. I'm from Pennsylvania but the Poconos is way over on the other end of the state from where I live on Lake Erie. We went there (for the first time) last year for my wife's 50th birthday but didn't see the triangle track. It's reputation as a tough place to race is certainly well known. I hope all the drivers have a safe race. As always, thanks for the update Garrett!
  13. You're right B.L. It's Waylon. Although personally the answer for me is Luke and Waylon since my grandson Luke was born on Waylon's birthday three years ago.
  14. Welcome to the HazzardNet!

  15. I guess I was still an impressionable kid (at 19 years old) when the Dukes first came out because I always carried around a knife on my belt just like Bo and Luke. At the time there really was no way to tell what brand of knife the Duke boys had so I didn't really care what I had......but you can bet if I would have known what they carried I would have had half a dozen of them!
  16. I saw the latest standings today Garrett and noticed that the Cubs and San Diego are tied for the worst team in MLB. I know we have a friendly rivalry but I just want you to know that I'm rooting for your team to make a comeback.....that is unless it's at the expense of the Pirates, who have surged into second place. Despite what I've said in the past about the Cubs, I really do like them. If they were in any other division except the one they're in, they'd be my favorite team in their division. I wish they were in the American League so I could like them even more. Which makes me wonder, do you root for the White Sox too?
  17. Who has a birthday coming up in a week? (June 15) A) Bo Luke C) Lulu D) Rosco E) Waylon
  18. Welcome to the HazzardNet!

  19. Nice job B.L. You got all three right.
  20. This is exactly why I love this website. I'm surrounded by folks who love the Dukes of Hazzard so much that it even matters to them what kind of knives the Dukes had. I definitely belong here!
  21. And I remember once you actually wrote something that made sense. I can't remember what it was because it's been so long ago but I've been waiting a long time for you to write something else that makes sense. If I wait another 15 years it might happen. LOL I only tease you because I like you.
  22. Well Brian, the good news is.... you and I are prime examples of that old saying.... "You're only young once but you can be immature forever."
  23. Welcome to the HazzardNet!

  24. Thanks Brian. I tend to be long winded on the subjects of astronomy and religion because I love them so much and I'm sure you'll keep an eye out to keep me on the right track. I won't be offended if you tell me "don't go there." Even though I'm a Christian I won't promote any particular religion but will only talk about how it relates to science. I'll probably drop the subject if it looks like people are losing interest so I'd appreciate feedback from other folks in addition to CDoherty. But for now, let me deal with the above quote. There's a good possibility we are talking about the same show CDoherty. As I recall they said that the Mayan calander ends when the Sun, Earth and center of the galaxy is going to line up. There are three major flaws to that. 1) The Mayans didn't even know what a galaxy was. Nobody knew until Edwin Hubble (of Hubble Space Telescope fame) discovered in the 1920s that the small blobs in the sky they were observing weren't part of our galaxy but were galaxies seperate from our own. The Mayans DID know about the Milky Way because they had no light pollution and could see it perfectly. They didn't know where the center of the Milky Way was because they didn't know WHAT the Milky Way was. They might have suspected that the center was in (what we now call) Sagittarius because there's a lot more stars there. 2) The "scientists" (and I use the term losely) on the show in question claim that the trouble is going to happen when the center of the galaxy, the Earth and the Sun all line up. The problem with that theory is that they line up once a year. They never perfectly line up and they never will but it makes you wonder why the world hasn't been destroyed every year since its existence. 3) Which brings me to the third point. The idea is that the Mayans ended their calander because (although those three things won't line up perfectly) they'll be as close as they can get to lining up. The problem with that is that this is simply an astronomical cycle that will repeat itself and is nothing to worry about. I'll explain with an analogy that I made up. Imagine you're in a room with someone who speaks English but knows nothing else about our ways. You show that person how a calander works but forget to explain that Jan 1 repeats itself after Dec 31. You explain that this is June 7 and leave the room. They flip though the calander and see that it ends on December 31. They then have a panic attack because they think the world is going to end then. In other words, the astronomical cycle of things lining up, then drifting apart, then lining up again isn't going to stop. It's simply going to end another normal cycle and start again. The people trying to sell you books want you to think it is because if they wrote a book saying nothing bad is going to happen it would be too boring to make them rich. Okay, that covers part 1. I still have more subjects to cover concerning those two posts so stay tuned folks. In the meantime, if you have questions ask away.....
