James Best, who is best known for playing Rosco P. Coltrane on TV's "The Dukes of Hazzard," will receive the Harvey Award from The Jimmy Stewart Museum. Best, 80, is scheduled to receive the award Oct. 20 at an event hosted by Nick and Nina Clooney. Because Best is also an artist, the museum is hoping to organize a show of his works, said museum executive director Tim Harley. Best starred with Stewart, a native of Indiana, in the films, "Winchester '73," "Shenandoah," "The Mountain Road" and "Firecreek." He also appeared in several other films, including "Seven Angry Men," "The Last of the Badmen," "Cast a Long Shadow" and "Gator." His TV appearances include roles in "…

For anyone who isn't familiar with it, Sonny Shroyer was the lead actor in an independent film called "A Tale About Bootlegging". I recently purchased the DVD and since there is so little info online about it, I've put up a page with a review and screencaptures. It's a quirky, slap-stick comedy and it's well worth a watch. Better than a lot of junk that comes out on the big screen these days. You can check out the full review and synopsis, plus screencaptures here: "A Tale About Bootlegging"

I don't know if anybody has heard, but I was watching CMT Insider today and they were talking about this newcomer and her new video and it features none other than Sonny Shroyer! I wish that I could remember her name, but she said that it was like living her childhood dream working with Sonny. Growing up she always wished that she was Daisy. It also showed a scene from the video and Sonny was dressed in his "Enos" uniform and driving a patrole car. I wish that I could give more info, but CMT Insider airs again tonight at 11:00 PM ET/PT.

If you have a General Lee, or a Hazzard County patrol car, or Daisy's Jeep, or Cooter's tow truck or Uncle Jesse's pickup, Cooter wants YOU. And your Hazzard car, for the 3rd annual Hazzard Run, October 1st and 2nd. The deal is this: You pay $30 to participate, and you drive your car from Cooter's Place in Nashville TN to Cooter's Place in Gatlinburg TN, in a convoy. In return you get public adoration from spectators, a dash plaque, a t-shirt, and some amusements at Cooter's Place. Rick Hurst and Ben Jones will be attending. Great opportunity to hang out with other car owners and blow your own Dixie horn. Here's a spectator view supplied by one of our members last year:…

Forgive me if I've placed this in the wrong section. I'm new here and am still trying to navigate my way around. I just posted an introduction to myself in the Introduce Yourself section. Go check it out. The reason for this post is to see if anyone would like to re-watch the show from the beginning. I am starting Season 1 early next week! Whoever else wants to, we can discuss the episodes as we watch them! Just let me know =D

Just curious. I plan on recording them from CMT on VHS. I was going to buy the Smokeyand the Bandit DVD today, but read that it is in widescreen, put it back, and said "Bring back the VHS tape!" Poor folks like me can't run out and buy a 16:9 ratio TV.

SIAP, I have read about an Auto Trader commercial that is being filmed with John and Tom. Apparently they are doing a lot of stunts for one commercial, they have 2 hero cars (both of which are actual series used Generals), 2 Generals for hard core stunt driving, and lastly 2 more Generals used for jump scenes. This is the only pics I found online, Its a transport truck hauling the stunt Generals and some Hazzard County Sheriff cars...check them out... newer Chargers with decals like the old Monacos and Furys in the series. I don't know when it is scheduled to air, but the started filming this past Saturday. Jason

Anybody going to see Ben Jones at the International Auto Showcase at the New York State Fairgrounds this weekend? If so, we'd greatly appreciate any photos you can share! Just a reminder, there are a slew of cast appearances coming up and many of these were listed in our March 2012 Newsletter. We will also do our best to post reminders on our Facebook page a good week or two before any event, and we try to keep the Forums updated here as well, but obviously in Ben's case I forgot to cross-post it on the Forums until the last minute.

I usually just lurk on here rather than post stuff but this past week I had the opportunity to interview Ben Jones about Hazzard Homecoming. Ben was exactly what you'd expect him to be: a nice guy, easy to talk to and good humored. I can't exactly figure out the policy on links here (how do you email an admin? I clicked on the link above but there's no email address listed). In any case, this might not show up in the message but it was broadcast radio so there's nothing indecent about it:

On April 22nd 2006, Bernadette and Paul, from Toowoomba in Queensland Australia, made the two hour trip to Brisbane, with their brand new General Lee Buggy, to meet John Schneidder. We arrived at about 9:30 am , met Daniel, the organizer and parked The General. Paul blew the Dixie Horn (yes, it has one!) infront of the waiting crowds and they all cheered, which got Paul going! I'm sure John heard it too, he would've been there by then and EVERYWHERE you went, you could hear it! Most of the day was spent hanging around, we answered some enquiries about The General and took some photos for people. At about 2:30 pm, John did a seminar, in which he answered the audiences' que…

John Schneider is in USA Today (Feb 5, Life section) The story features how much work his new manager is finding for him. His manager's name is Steven Jensen. Hmmm, is there a connection here? He sounds like a good 'ol Hazzard boy. Jensen's Bridge--"The Meeting" Jensen's Cave--"Bird's Gotta Fly" Jensen's Hollow--""The Ghost of the General Lee"

I'm not sure of the details, but nobody had posted about it ( or at least I hadn't seen anything!) and thought I'd remind people, that he played Slick Dawgins in " Coltrane vs Duke" and he played other characters ( I'm blanking right now!) in the show at different times!
