    Signs of Hazzard

I was watching a report from CES in Las Vegas earlier when they showed the back of the famous welcome sign (see above), and I thought I should do a Dukes version of that too .
  2. The caravan racing reminded me of the motorhome (RV) racing on Top Gear: And that reminded me of the airport vehicle racing:
  3. Thanks for the videos, Roth. I haven't seen a DAF for ages, although they were quite popular when I was young (as were the other cars in the videos). I wonder how those guys would do in a race with "the world's best backwards driver"? They also do caravan racing in the UK. NASCAR take note: this is how you make oval racing exciting! (Sorry, Garrett, couldn't resist )
  4. I've straightened your picture a bit and tweaked the levels. The camera foreshortens the depth - the fence is around the square and we are looking right across it to the buildings beyond. My picture was from near the end of season 7, so the WHOGG sign wouldn't have been in the Chris/Byron photo.
  5. I believe that the two buildings on the left are the ones in the background of the picture above, although not necessarily with the same storefronts. In the picture below, the bank is on the right. The cliff on the right of the General Lee picture looks more like Indian Dunes to me.

    NASCAR news

If he gets into the Sprint Cup Series, won't it be confusing wondering whether Chase will make The Chase?
  7. I think I see the blooper - the door is open . My guess would be one of the ranches. I'm wondering if the light blue car (fourth up on the right) is Cooter's '68 Chevelle.
  8. Great work, Jason. Those High Impact Mopar colors really look good on Chargers, and the '68-69 conversion is going well. I think I'd have been tempted to turn the black '68 into a Bullitt replica, but then I'd have to buy another Charger to become a General Lee . For now I'll have to make do with owning both as diecasts.
  9. Welcome to HNet, Jason. I have a 1:18 model of a '71 Charger R/T in Go Green/Black, so you're obviously not the shy and retiring type with that color scheme . Like MeadowMufn, I'm also looking forward to seeing your pictures.
  10. Welcome to HNet, Rich. That's a tricky question about the color. Obviously I'm tempted by orange, but the car seems so original and rare that I'd probably be swayed toward the factory color. Either way, as Mufn said, we want pictures .

    NASCAR news

Thanks, Garrett. I was hoping to have some news by now, but Schumacher's condition is still said to be critical but stable. The most recent reports suggest he wasn't going very fast at the time of the accident, and police are looking at footage from his head camera. A tourist has also come forward claiming to have captured the accident on their smartphone. Back in 2006, Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond was also put into an induced coma following a 288 mph dragster crash. He went on to make a full recovery, so obviously my fingers are crossed for Michael.
  12. For those of us without CMT who may want to watch along with DVDs, this seems to be the list of episodes they're showing today: (All times are ET as far as I can tell. Season/episode #s are as I found them on a listings site.) 2:00 PM ... Season 5 Episode 20: Big Brothers Duke 3:02 PM ... Season 2 Episode 16: The Treasure of Hazzard 4:04 PM ... Season 2 Episode 11: People's Choice 5:06 PM ... Season 2 Episode 17: Officer Daisy Duke 6:08 PM ... Season 5 Episode 22: Daisy's Shotgun Wedding 7:11 PM ... Season 3 Episode 16: To Catch a Duke 8:18 PM ... Season 5 Episode 21: Farewell Hazzard 9:25 PM ... Season 2 Episode 15: Follow That Still Knowing US TV, there should be plenty of time during commercials to swap discs as they jump around the seasons .

  14. I'm playing out of turn again for another obituary. Sadly, I read the news this morning that Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers had died at the age of 74. The Everly Brothers are probably best known for songs like , Wake Up Little Susie and (all previously posted in this thread), as well as being the most famous cousins of Jimmie Best. To fit with the previous song, I'm going with a duet that Phil recorded with Sondra Locke for the 1978 Clint Eastwood movie 'Every Which Way But Loose'.Don't Say You Don't Love Me No More - Sondra Locke & Phil Everly R.I.P. Phillip "Phil" Everly (January 19, 1939 – January 3, 2014)
  15. It looks like someone finally uploaded the whole episode to YouTube a couple of months ago. Seeing as we don't have the Speed Channel here, it's the first chance I've had to watch it in its entirety.
  16. A couple of similar images originally posted by CARLOS-ARGENTINO in this thread. The first, from the General Lee Fan Club, looks like it's the same poster as the one above. Surely someone has a larger version of one of these.
  17. Looks like the dress that Daisy wore when she was Betty-Lou in 'Route 7-11' (Jesse was Yancy Peckinpaugh). Sorry the picture doesn't show the dress better - I'm away from my DVDs at the moment and this is the best I had to hand.
  18. Miracle (Kris Kringle sings the Sinterklaas song to the little Dutch girl in 'Miracle on 34th Street')

I know this is non-NASCAR news (sorry, Garrett), but seven-time F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher is currently in an induced coma after hitting his head in a skiing accident. Doctors say he'd almost certainly be dead if he wasn't wearing a helmet. At present they are trying to control the swelling in his brain and describe his condition as "critical". More info: Michael Schumacher, former F1 champion, critical after ski fall

  23. Great wedding pics, but the last one is definitely not from the wedding as the buildings behind the church weren't built until after Dukes finished. The similar picture below is from an annual wine and food tasting fund-raiser for cystic fibrosis.
  24. I've seen calendars that are longer than 12 months before, but they usually go a couple of months into the following year. This one seems to include 6 months from 2013. Also, I don't like the way they've Photoshopped the flag off the General's roof .
  25. It's that time of the year again when we remember the birth of someone special . And that goes for me too .
