I think a lot of us have posted what Dukefan wrote to start this thread. We are all going to have different ideas on what this movie should be like and who should be in it. Sure we can poke a little fun at certain things of the original series, Brian nailed it with the episodes. But that was only a select few out of 5 years worth . The movie , unfortunately, has only one shot right now. I have said this alot, we will just have to wait and see what the final product is. Somehow it may work in a different way than what we expected. Maybe our own expectations as DOH fans was set too high based on the show. The characters we grew up on for 5 years watching them over and over and the actors developing their characters. That is what we got used to and based that upon. The cast might work very well together. WE don't know yet. In a few short months we will find out..... Darrell

That was an awesome episode....One of the best for the last couple of seasons. Who would have known it would have been the last? ......It is kinda sad thinking about that it was the final one..

How would feel if they changed the DOH ? Have their last name Royal , you could call them Dukes (Royal=Dukes, it works) place them in Wyoming or somewhere like that and have them drive a monster truck called "Stonewall Jackson", since they will live near Jackson Hole, WY. Will it still be the Dukes Of Hazzard? That is exactly what they did to Walking Tall. Walking Tall was a huge disappointment to me. I am a huge fan and collector of Sheriff Buford Pusser. I was very excited when I found outthey were remaking the movie, then got deflated when I found out "The Rock" was cast as the main character. The movie had actually nothing to do with Sheriff Buford Pusser, just the title , which in my opinion was the only way to bring in people to the movie. Saying it was inspired by his story is an overstatement. I would loved to have a fresh take on Walking Tall , but I don't think it will come as close to the original. Don't forget Pusser was involved in the movie when it was made in the early 70's. Walking Tall was a bad example of a "fresh take" when talking about redoing movies. Anyway remakes are alwasy done for movies and comparing TV shows , where people know the charaters longer and better is totally different . Characters that have been developed for years by actors are the ones that the public are used to. So a new movie will be looked at differently by those fans.

Traveller ......That is exactly what I have been tying to say for a while now. The new movie may not have been what fans have wanted to see on the big screen. Yes the choices fans wanted for who to play who were biased based on the original and more towards the later years if the show. I hhave said if they make this the way they made the first few episodes it would be great. The raciness and more of the down home feel. Whoever making this movie will interpret the way they see the Dukes, not the way we see them. Everyone has a little different idea on that. Maybe the movie will be good ,then again maybe not. I will wait til it comes out and see it for myself to pass judgment. I loved the choice of Burt as Boss Hogg as I felt it will bring a more seriousness to the role. And MC Gainey as Sheriff Roscpe Coltrane, who would have thought that. You never know . But as I said before it has all to do with chemistry and they might all work well as Hazzardites.. I joked in an earlier thread about it being set in today and not the 70's/80's and the use of CB's , hoping they will NOT use NEXTELS to talk to each other. It was a thought about modern stuff and how it could be today...

Forgot about Survivor ....That is our TV family night sort of. My youngest daughter LOVES this show and breaks down when who she wants to win gets voted out. My wife and I yell at the TV about what stupidity they must think of when they vote out the WRONG person. I know it is obvious to us at home about what they do, but sometimes they don't have a brain...

I never heard Moonrunners called a sequal before... Yes Robert Mitchum's son James was in the movie Moonrunners, but not Robert Mitchum. They used the phrase " Thunder Road was only a practice run. This is the real thing." I think that was a way to get people who liked Thunder Road to come and see it .

The Blue Mule.......Ford COE WT9000 ... What a rig..... Another movie I forgot about and absolutely love. I loved those 70's trucker movies....I have this on video somewhere, taped off of cable years ago.... Gotta love the end , the Blue Mule driving through the glass..

I gotta go with Gretchen Wilson.....Shania is too much pop for me , since her hubby is Mutt Lange (the guy who made Def Leppard a world wide band and is a rock producer). Gretchen brings a more independant spirit to country , sort of like early Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton....Just my opinion..

Just curious to see what kind of shows everyone on here watches. I did this with the typ of music ya'll listen and now it's TV time... My current favorite show and has been for the past few years is 24. That show just leaves me speechless at the twists ands turns all the time. Another show I love is a British spy show shown on A&E called M.I.-5 . Similar to 24 but not set in a 24 hour period. Not really much of the current sit-coms I watch. I loved Doc with Billy Ray Cyrus , but that recently ended. I am sure I will think of others. 1. 24 2. MI-5 3. CSI - the original 4. Lost 5. Alias

But release dates could always change because of production, post-production, reshoots, etc....I hope that is the target date for the opening...

62% Dixie....Not bad for someone from Long Island, NY.... Although a lot of my family is from NC, my mom was born and raised in NC til she moved up north and had me..LOL

I always liked the choice of Burt Reynolds..and this makes it look like the right choice , especially after pics of his car with 6-shooters as door handles..

The General was as part of the show as any of the cast. But it was the way the cast interacted with each other that made the show for me. UIncle Jesse's down home wisdom, Boss and Roscoe -well Baoo and Roscoe, Bo and Luke butting heads and being family and all. And seeing the General take flight in the show....

I am still partial for the first season, especially the first few episodes. They were still young and innocent and developing their characters. I love the feel of those episodes with the natural scenery of Georgia .

I hope that it doesn't get pushed back because of the reshoots or anything. I think it will make a great 4th of July -all-American weekend movie....

The movie was just on yesterday afternoon on the Fox Movie Channel... Peter Fonda and Adam Rourke try and rob a grocery store. They rob the store to try to get money to get back and compete in NASCAR Susan George is a girl who Peter Fonda slept with the night before and tried to ditch, but somehow got involved .Vic Morrow is a police captian who chases them all over the town . It is a light green 69 Dodge Charger R/T w/ the 440 motor.That is the car that they switch to to try and outsmart the cops. I knew I forgot a lot about this movie....Good thing it was on....

I saw the Batman Begins one and some of the other movie trailers they showed were The Pascifier - Vin Diesel, The Longest Yard - Adam Sandler, War Of The Worlds - Tom Cruise... But I didn't see the Dukes ..I watched the game for nothing then....

Tom Wopat will be performing on Feb 12, 2005 at the Tilles Center in Old Westbury , NY . He will be in the production of "Over The Rainbow" . I saw the ad in our paper this past weekend. I think it is only a one night show.. I will post more info when I find out more.. Darrell

Awesome movie.....My brother, 21 years older than me, took me to see this back in the theaters in 74, I was 4 at the time and ran out screaming..Who would take a 4 year old to movie anyway??LOL Just a great piece of nostalgia on the end of the 50's , although set in 1962. The cars and the music alone make this movie worth it... Darrell
