I have it on video, taped it off a movie channel a number of years back...Peter Fonda and Susan George star in it ..Mary and Larry are a couple who, with Larry's ace mechanic, try robbing a grocery story owner, and take a woman from the store with them . They are chased over all over ...The ending is what really stands out in this movie..... I just might have to dig this movie out watch it again....

I remember this movie.....Ron Howard wore a Kepi hat in it and the guy from the Partridge Family was the race car driver.. A good Saturday afternoon flick...

My idea of how the movie should actually be done
Capt_Redneck replied to bamamediamafia's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Brian you are right ......I don't think Moonrunners would even be mentioned if it wasn't for the Dukes... It really wasn't a bad movie. It was just of a regional type of movie in the 70's. You had movies like Dirty Mary , Crazy Larry - Peter Fonda, Walking Tall - Joe Don Baker and Bo Svensen in the sequals, The Last American Hero - Jeff Bridges and the Burt Reynolds movies Gator and White Lightning...There are others too numerous to mention...But these movies did well in the rural areas than in the more metropolitan cities because the more rural areas related to the themes a heck of a lot better.. -
Garrett Now what are going to do with you???? Chicago Cubs?? Jeff Gordon?? *shaking my head in disbelief*

We are just going to have to wait and see the finished film.... Heck alot of us have had our opinions on how the movie should be cast nad how the movie should be...We know Hollywood is making this for more of a wider audience than for us Dukes fans ...That doesn't mean we can't offer our own ideas and thoughts. That is what this forum is about. Just keep it constructive and not flame anyone. I have said in earlier posts if the cast has that chemistry together like the series did then it might be good...then again it might not. We will know in a few months ... As far as the cast goes, a lot of us are going by the previous work of these actors. Some of which don't fit what we thought for the movie. Jessica Simpson might not be a great choice to us and as you pointed out her act is all PR stuff. That is probably true, but the general public sees her act and thinks that is the way she is...Still not my choice....But whos knows... Darrell

Actor for Uncle Jesse's role
Capt_Redneck replied to Good Ole SC Boy's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Robert Duvall was a choice of mine for Uncle Jesse. He would have a great , more serious Jesse.. Looking at the pic of Willie as Jesse makes me think Willie wil be a good choice, long hair and all. He does look the part in the pic. Now let's see how well he acts as him remains to be seen....Maybe he will bring soemthing different to the role... -
Movie Trailer during Superbowl
Capt_Redneck replied to bamamediamafia's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I hope the new Batman movie lives up to the trailer, not like the last couple of Batman flicks....Although I kinda liked George Clooney as Bruce Wayne, but that is another subject.... Darrell -
Must be a Canadian thing... just kidding.....haven't seen it on CMT here in the states yet

Aren't you RebelWolfUT ??? Your story sounds the same as his .... I can't beat what Brian wrote - your "01" of a kind...and I am sure us Dukes fans would make a helluva good time.. RebelWolfUT wrote on Aug 12 Few I think love the TV show the Dukes of Hazzard more than I do. Let me express it this way theres a story behind my affection. Back in 1981 when at a crossroads in my car building business in Idaho, I was in the march of going to the 1981 Salt Lake City Autorama. We at the shop had a different car nearly built, when on a scouting trip to find white go-go boots for the display, I ran across a duplicate General Lee. That was so exact it was teriffc. So then, the guy who built that car was going on a LDS Mission, and needed to sell the car, so I did what any good Duke fan would do, I bought it. Touched it up, replaced the 318 with a tweaked 440, and entered the Salt Lake City Autorama, see the February 1982 Popular Hot Rodding Magazine issue, it was in there. After the car show, got to thinking I do not look like Bo, or Luke, but I did resemble Crazy Cooter both in life as well as looks, I too drove and still drive a tow truck in a very small country town. So I made a phone call to Paul Picard, don't ask me how I got through, but I did. I talked to him and Skip Ward the producer of the Dukes, asked if I could use the name Hazzard Garage for my shop, they said yes and so it goes. When my mom passed away a year later, I was really hit hard. Somehow the cast and Picard had heard about her passing, and not only offered me their kindness, but showed up in our little town of Hagerman Idaho( 96 miles south of Boise) After that Hagerman was nick named Hazzard Idaho. So yes in many ways not only did I watch the show, but have every single episode on VHS Video, but in many ways I lived the show in my own way. I created an unofficial Dukes club and custom ride group rolled into one. With the name of the group taken loosly after the Hollywood Knights, a movie of the time that also featured besides other Popular Hot Rodding Magazine' car Project X Yellow 57 Chevy. We called our club the Hazzard Kounty Knytes Kustmz Association. So am I a true fan? Do I love what the Dukes stood for? Answer, more than anyone could know. Am I trying to make money off that image or images, no. I just want to preserve it.

sorry for knocking the new movie to shreds !
Capt_Redneck replied to dukefan's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Dukefan Thank you for understanding. This is THE best DOH site and forum out there. All of us on here are mixed about the movie. I think we are just waiting to see the finished film before we can critque it. Then all hell will break loose..LOL Shoot we would love to have the originals for the cast and there are younger actors that would be ideal for the new movie. But Hollyweird went a different way. We love giving ideas and opinions on the cast and the way the film should be. BubbaDuke is right that this is a way to introduce the Dukes to a whole new generation of fans. And to see the General Lee on the big screen is what I am waiting for. If the cast has that chemistry together it will the movie all that much better. MC Gainey , I will just have to wait and see..I can't comment on him yet, but still can't picture him as Roscoe.. Catherine Bell????? I like her in JAG, think she is very hot...But my choice will always be Gretchen Wilson for Daisy... Darrell -
Gotta agree with ya on that Dixie... Why have the car if YOU can't drive it your self? That is the fun of muscle cars....
-
dukesfan... While I respect your views on the upcoming film, please stop posting the same stuff in each thread. It is getting old to read how much you despise the film. While we can all agree that it will not like the original , it might be something of interest to some of us on here .. Maybe the movie will bring in whole new generation of fans who were never into the original. We may not like the film , but it will keep the memory alive for another generation to discover what we truly liked about the original series..Hopefully..
-
dukesfan....Thanks for sharing your feelings on the movie.... There are other topics on here that you can express your displeasure for the movie. This topic was discussing the theme song... Not to sound mean or anything, but keep an open mind. You never know how it might turn out.
-
My ideal way is to use the original for the opening of the movie as they are starting out ..Then if someone does remake the song, hopefully Travis Tritt, then use that version over the closing credits.... How would that be folks???? Darrell
-
The Black Widows was the MC ...They were the sorriest bunch of bikers I ever saw.. ... Both this movie and it's sequal , Any Which Way You Can , were great movies that showed a lighter side of Clint Eastwood, without tarnishing his rep. I always wanted Clyde as buddy when I was kid...
-
I might have to check that out Gimp....That is pretty cool that you do your own show. Where is it from? How did you get it???
-
It also emphasized good ol' Coors beer and a Pontiac Trans-Am....I wonder where else did Burt Reynolds promoted Coors beer and a Trans-Am ???? LOL...... Darrell
-
I just saw this movie again on TV the other day....I love this movie from when I was little and loved that Clint Eastwood made a couple of movies like this. Right Turn Clyde.......
-
I have that version on my computer... Just think that the people who weren't Dukes fans that don't get that verse....LOL Darrell
-
If WB is smart they will do something like that as a way to promote the upcoming movie. The more exposure the better so they say. The Dukes on CMT will hopefullyt bring more new fans to the show and hopefully ,if they do promote the movie , more exposure for people that didn't know there is going to be a movie...

Good luck....Keep us posted on what happens.... Damn lucky SOB........LOL
