  1. You are lucky about seeing the Rockford Files, that is one of my all time favorite shows. And so is Mama's Family. My wife an I had tickets last year to Vicki Lawrence doing her "An Evening Of Mama" stuff but she ended up cancelling her tour. I would have loved to see that...
  2. I mean the Dodge Charger Daytona with the wing and sloped nose that was built for NASCAR racing and then made around 500 or so for the public. That way it could be raced in NASCAR then. It was the smae car as the Plymouth Superbird. Still you are looking around $250,000 for the Hemi version, if you can fnd one.
  3. Actually my favorite is the 69-70 Dodge Charger Daytona with 426 Hemi. Althought I would take one with the 440.. Definately can't afford either of them, but I can dream...
  4. Now this is makes NASCAR a family sport. I am sorry I just like to pick on Gordon fans. It's funny Jeff Gordon is like a curse word in my house, my kids are not allowed to say that name...LOL.. Everyone the beer is me this weekend, except Bethie , you get a Dr. Pepper since you are a youngin' Darrell
  5. Don't forget they used any model (base, R/T, etc) charger they could get. Dang show bought up all the good Chargers out there....LOL
  6. That 78 racer is your dad's? ......Very cool car. I bet he has fun driving that thing around...
  7. Kasey Kahne - What wins? 5 second place finishes. He was the first rookie in about 5 years not to win a Cup race. He will definately be in winners circle this year if he races like he did last year.
  8. No apology necessary.....I always bust on Gordon fans and so do most people who who don't like him. That is what NASCAR is all about, cheering for your favorite no matter what. But in the end, WE all will have a beer together no matter who we pull for or who wins th race.. Darrell
  9. Go ahead about Tony Stewart. The ONLY driver to win an open wheel (IRL) and a NASCAR championship. One the few drivers who actually wants to race and race anything , midgets, sprints, Indycars. A championship car owner in both USAC and The World Of Outlaws. One of only a select few to win the USAC midget, sprint and Silver Crown championships in the same year. The only thing he really hasn't accomplished is winning the Indy 500... I will give you Gordon's 4 championships, but will take Tony Stewart's accomplishments over that anytime.... Darrell
  10. Yeah back on our local short track here in the 80's , someone had a car done up as the General in the either the blunderbust or figure 8 division. I can't remember which one , but remember the car. I know it wasn't a Charger either, and I can't remember what kind of car it was either.... Man I am getting old , I am losing my mind or whats left of it...
  11. Cajunduke....good call.. You don't see many of the 70's style vettes in movies or TV shows. I like the that style, especially the early convertibles ..
  12. Whatever is in the water , I will take a double......LOL.....
  13. I have a Basset Hound at home and named her Bailey.I wanted Flash or Fred(Smokey & The Bandit) as a name , but we got a female....
  14. bethie88 ......I have to agree 100% with that....Just add Jimmie Johnson to list with Gordon and Busch. Dale Jr Kevin Harvick Tony Stewart Elliot Sadler Robby Gordon Kyle Petty
  15. Jeff Gordon ??? Oh Lord please help Garrett Duke through this and show him the way...
  16. Anybody who likes racin' movies will love this one. It is based on an article "The Last American Hero is Junior Johnson" by Tom Wolfe and appeared in Esquire magazine back in the 60's. the movie came out in 73 and stars Jeff Bridges as Junior Jackson , the son of a moonshiner who has dreams of racin in NASCAR. Gary Busey is his brother. I got this from IMDB http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0070287/usercomments A Real Legendary Movie, 6 October 2004 Author: Paul-308 from USA This is what the Dukes of Hazzard could have been,or at least this help inspired the Dukes.Junior Jackson drives a Mustang fastback,he runs moonshine in it,he outruns the revenoors in it,he races it on the track (sorta like the General Lee?).When his racing ambition outgrows the Mustang,he buys a Chevy (ugg) and proceeds to move on to an established team. This is the story of Junior Johnson, long time NASCAR racer and car owner. His family runs moonshine, but is trying to conform to modern tastes.Juniors talent makes him a star, and catches the eye of cute in the face V Perrine.A very southern story,a very southern feel,a great big slice of a time gone by.Bridges is excellent as Junior.Don't think anybody could have done as well. His smirks and facial expressions (or lack thereof) are classic.Very underrated film.Should have been given more attention.
  17. Hey ya''ll ...Cup season is here now....Tonight ,Sat 2/12, is the Budweiser Shootout from Daytona. Primetime TV on Fox , then qualifying for the pole for the Daytona 500 tomorrow afternoon. It has been too long without racing for me. I just can't wait for the action to start..... So who ya'll pulling for this year?????
  18. I had to add these movies ...The story of the late Sheriff Buford Pusser of McNairy Co, TN. There will never be another like him . Someone who fought corruption and illegal activities HIS way.
  19. I think a lot of us have posted what Dukefan wrote to start this thread. We are all going to have different ideas on what this movie should be like and who should be in it. Sure we can poke a little fun at certain things of the original series, Brian nailed it with the episodes. But that was only a select few out of 5 years worth . The movie , unfortunately, has only one shot right now. I have said this alot, we will just have to wait and see what the final product is. Somehow it may work in a different way than what we expected. Maybe our own expectations as DOH fans was set too high based on the show. The characters we grew up on for 5 years watching them over and over and the actors developing their characters. That is what we got used to and based that upon. The cast might work very well together. WE don't know yet. In a few short months we will find out..... Darrell
  20. When I was a kid I always wanted to be like Cooter. He was free, had his own busines and could fix any car....As a little kid that was awesome. And now that I am older I still love Cooter. 1. Cooter 1a. Uncle Jesse 1b. Bo 1c. Luke 1d. Boss Hogg 1e. Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane 1f. Daisy Duke 1g. Enos Strate 1h. Cletus Actually in no particular order as they are all #1 to me...
  21. That was an awesome episode....One of the best for the last couple of seasons. Who would have known it would have been the last? ......It is kinda sad thinking about that it was the final one..
  22. How would feel if they changed the DOH ? Have their last name Royal , you could call them Dukes (Royal=Dukes, it works) place them in Wyoming or somewhere like that and have them drive a monster truck called "Stonewall Jackson", since they will live near Jackson Hole, WY. Will it still be the Dukes Of Hazzard? That is exactly what they did to Walking Tall. Walking Tall was a huge disappointment to me. I am a huge fan and collector of Sheriff Buford Pusser. I was very excited when I found outthey were remaking the movie, then got deflated when I found out "The Rock" was cast as the main character. The movie had actually nothing to do with Sheriff Buford Pusser, just the title , which in my opinion was the only way to bring in people to the movie. Saying it was inspired by his story is an overstatement. I would loved to have a fresh take on Walking Tall , but I don't think it will come as close to the original. Don't forget Pusser was involved in the movie when it was made in the early 70's. Walking Tall was a bad example of a "fresh take" when talking about redoing movies. Anyway remakes are alwasy done for movies and comparing TV shows , where people know the charaters longer and better is totally different . Characters that have been developed for years by actors are the ones that the public are used to. So a new movie will be looked at differently by those fans.
  23. Thanks for the link........I may not write fanfic or anything, but I love to read everyone's stories. My 10 year old likes a lot of the stories too. She will sit and read them for a long time ...they are great ... Darrell
  24. Traveller ......That is exactly what I have been tying to say for a while now. The new movie may not have been what fans have wanted to see on the big screen. Yes the choices fans wanted for who to play who were biased based on the original and more towards the later years if the show. I hhave said if they make this the way they made the first few episodes it would be great. The raciness and more of the down home feel. Whoever making this movie will interpret the way they see the Dukes, not the way we see them. Everyone has a little different idea on that. Maybe the movie will be good ,then again maybe not. I will wait til it comes out and see it for myself to pass judgment. I loved the choice of Burt as Boss Hogg as I felt it will bring a more seriousness to the role. And MC Gainey as Sheriff Roscpe Coltrane, who would have thought that. You never know . But as I said before it has all to do with chemistry and they might all work well as Hazzardites.. I joked in an earlier thread about it being set in today and not the 70's/80's and the use of CB's , hoping they will NOT use NEXTELS to talk to each other. It was a thought about modern stuff and how it could be today...
  25. Forgot about Survivor ....That is our TV family night sort of. My youngest daughter LOVES this show and breaks down when who she wants to win gets voted out. My wife and I yell at the TV about what stupidity they must think of when they vote out the WRONG person. I know it is obvious to us at home about what they do, but sometimes they don't have a brain...
