The way the Busch race ended would be my ideal finish for the Daytona 500.. 1. Tony Stewart 2. Kevin Harvick 3. Dale Earnhardt Jr... Although I want Tony to win , I wouldn't mind Harvick winning it either... Let's just pray we have a good safe race no matter who wins.... Darrell

Thank you for posting that.......I always said when they cast Burt Reynolds it will be for more of a serious role and not some slapstick kind. I had no idea Burt had that much pull, but so far it sounds very promising. Reading articles like this and another one in a different thread raises my hopes for the movie. While we all disagreed and took exception to the director and cast when they were first announced, it is looking like they are staying true to spirit of the show. Like I said after the past couple of articles posted , I am now looking forward to seeing the movie more than ever . We will find out how "true" it is in a few months when it comes out....

Yeah they did, but that is a Steven Spielberg movie starring Tom Cruise. That is pretty much the top of Hollywood right there...

Dixie ....No questioning the "King" Richard Petty. He is my all time favorite driver along with Dale Earnhardt . I have been to his shop - Petty Enterprises and museum numerous times and met him a couple of times. I am not taking away his achievements, but a ton of those wins came when NASCAR was racing 40-60 races a year on every kind of track (speedways, dirt tracks, local short tracks,) when they raced 2 or 3 times a week. Richard Petty has my respect as the "King" and Dale Earnhardt has my respect at being the best stock car driver ever...... 43 & 3 = 7 Championships

I think Daytona will come down to either Kevin Harvick or Tony Stewart.... I would love to see Tony win it, but wouldn't be disappointed if Harvick won either...

You are lucky about seeing the Rockford Files, that is one of my all time favorite shows. And so is Mama's Family. My wife an I had tickets last year to Vicki Lawrence doing her "An Evening Of Mama" stuff but she ended up cancelling her tour. I would have loved to see that...

I mean the Dodge Charger Daytona with the wing and sloped nose that was built for NASCAR racing and then made around 500 or so for the public. That way it could be raced in NASCAR then. It was the smae car as the Plymouth Superbird. Still you are looking around $250,000 for the Hemi version, if you can fnd one.

Actually my favorite is the 69-70 Dodge Charger Daytona with 426 Hemi. Althought I would take one with the 440.. Definately can't afford either of them, but I can dream...

Kasey Kahne - What wins? 5 second place finishes. He was the first rookie in about 5 years not to win a Cup race. He will definately be in winners circle this year if he races like he did last year.

No apology necessary.....I always bust on Gordon fans and so do most people who who don't like him. That is what NASCAR is all about, cheering for your favorite no matter what. But in the end, WE all will have a beer together no matter who we pull for or who wins th race.. Darrell

Go ahead about Tony Stewart. The ONLY driver to win an open wheel (IRL) and a NASCAR championship. One the few drivers who actually wants to race and race anything , midgets, sprints, Indycars. A championship car owner in both USAC and The World Of Outlaws. One of only a select few to win the USAC midget, sprint and Silver Crown championships in the same year. The only thing he really hasn't accomplished is winning the Indy 500... I will give you Gordon's 4 championships, but will take Tony Stewart's accomplishments over that anytime.... Darrell

Yeah back on our local short track here in the 80's , someone had a car done up as the General in the either the blunderbust or figure 8 division. I can't remember which one , but remember the car. I know it wasn't a Charger either, and I can't remember what kind of car it was either.... Man I am getting old , I am losing my mind or whats left of it...

Anybody who likes racin' movies will love this one. It is based on an article "The Last American Hero is Junior Johnson" by Tom Wolfe and appeared in Esquire magazine back in the 60's. the movie came out in 73 and stars Jeff Bridges as Junior Jackson , the son of a moonshiner who has dreams of racin in NASCAR. Gary Busey is his brother. Hey ya''ll ...Cup season is here now....Tonight ,Sat 2/12, is the Budweiser Shootout from Daytona. Primetime TV on Fox , then qualifying for the pole for the Daytona 500 tomorrow afternoon. It has been too long without racing for me. I just can't wait for the action to start..... So who ya'll pulling for this year?????
