DukesFest & Other Events

I just got home from an amazing experience near Youngstown Ohio. It was a Dukes of Hazzard stunt show that was absolutely unbelievable. Words can't describe how amazing it was but I'll try anyways when I write up a lengthy review of it tomorrow. Once again, thanks to Daney Duke for posting the information regarding this show on the northern DukesFest thread. Without her, I never would have known about it.

I heard that DF 2008 was te last year do you guys think its the truth?

That's right folks in case you haven't checked the Dukesfest site lately. The one and only Adam West from the TV series Batman will be there.

Does anyone think or know if there is going to be another Dukesfest in 2006? I didnt even know there was one this year until a week before it, so i wasnt able to go.

Starting a thread for Dukesfest 2008 to share news and stuff. Me first: Byron Cherry posted on a Yahoo group that John was filming near his home and invited him over to hang out. They hugged for the first time in 25 years and had a blast and thus it is official Byron a.k.a. Coy Duke will be at Dukesfest 2008. He goes on to say that if anyone has any Duke related questions you can e-mail him and he'll be more than happy to answer.

Just curious... What cast members will be at Duke Fest this year? I know Ben Jones and James Best will be there, but who else? There's something on this board that says Sonny won't be there. Any other info on who will be there?

Ben's already announced he's gonna do it again. Yes, Virginia, there IS a 2012 Hazzard Homecoming, August 11 & 12. Same location as last year in Sperryville VA. This will be the biggest annual Dukes of Hazzard fan gathering of the year. (formerly known as "DukesFest".) This is the fastest we've seen him announce the next year's event, so he must have somethin' cookin'! No other details are yet public. As soon as they are, we'll post more. Please don't hate me. The Dukes are way down there in Dixie and I'm up north in Pennsylvania. I hope I don't get anybody mad with this suggestion. Has anybody thought of more than one Dukes Fest? I'm not proposing that us northern Dukes should have something as big as the real Dukes Fest. I'm not suggesting they be in competition or anything like that. I'm just wondering if a bunch of good 'ole boys (and girls) who live a long way from Dixie could get together someplace in this neck of the woods. All I can say is...holy cow, what a crowd! Huge turnout. CMT has been filming and interviewing all over the place. As far as the biggest draw, it's hard to say whether the autograph opportunites with John and Cathy were the prime interest - or, if the "Ride in a General Lee" opportunity is what brought 'em in. The "Ride in a General Lee" attraction had lines that ran between 4 and 5 hours long. And this was with a fleet of General Lees running on the track. But the once-in-a-lifetime chance seemed worth the wait to those I spoke to. There's no doubt that "Bo Duke" hasn't lost a thing in charisma. Hey ya'll ! Just got back from Nashville today, and thought I'd start a topic for DukesFest feedback. What did you enjoy the most? What didn't work out? It's hard for me to be objective, as I was one of a score of volunteers helping out over the weekend. I saw some dreams come true for a lot of happy people. I also met a number of folks who were disappointed, because they traveled a great distance to see John / Tom and didn't get a chance to get anywhere near them. This topic came up on the CGLFC whether any of the actors from either of the newer Dukes movies be invited or even allowed or considered to be at Dukesfest now with it being under Johns control. The general consensus over there is no they should not be invited and I whole heartedly agree that they should not be there.In fact I probably would boycott if I found out any were going to be there.Dukesfest should only be for people involved with the TV series period.

Credit to Phyllis for this unfortunate news. Always remember the story your grandson told after his Dukesfest stunt. He could've talked about himself, instead shared a memory about you. Thank you Mr. Baxley and your loyal crew for all you helped make the Dukes Of Hazzard become when critics said it wouldn't last the first commercial break. All these years later, folks are still yapping about the Dukes Of Hazzard. Thank you!

Is the rumor true of Dukesfest celebrating the 30th anniversary in Atlanta?

First off...This is what happens after a Hazzard Homecoming, and you've been cooked like a goose.... You die...lmao Anyways....I was sooo glad that hotel had a pool...Thanks Brian for recommending it...it was a nice little place to stay, it actually looked like my grandma's house inside!! And there was this great little restaurant called the Brookside Restaurant....The rest of the time we had to eat dollar menu from Mickey D's cause Hazzard Homecoming ate all our money!!
