Merry Christmas everybody. Does anybody have any special plans? I don't.......just mostly stay home with a little time traveling short distances to visit family.

This may sound silly but I have written in my Dukes journal every time I hit another thousand posts here on the HN in the last decade. Clearly I have slowed down. It took nearly 4 years to get this last thousand. 1000 Feb 2008.......2000 Sept 2008.....3000 June 2009 4000 Dec 2009.........5000 Aug 2010......6000 March 2011 7000 Aug 2012........8000 Nov 2013......9000 Sept 2017

I started watching the 2005 movie and turned it off after a few minutes, and just watched the whole thing today. I don't even recognise as The Dukes Of Hazzard; very unlike the show. I guess they watched the show, took some quick notes then decided to do a movie, which is very cheesy and inappropriate.

Things have been pretty quiet here so I was thinking about starting a facebook account. I've never had one but would only use it for Dukes stuff. I see HazzardNet is connected to facebook somehow but is it as easy to navigate as HN for a low tech guy like me?

Hi all i'm new on this sight, I bought a 69 charger a few years ago and bought it up from down south. I just got it out of storage a little bit ago to do a frame off resto and found under all the layers of paint the first one over the stock collar is General lee orange.... my car also has what's left of a tan interior so it got me thinking i should see if i can find out if it was on the show or not before i build it. Any one know if there was a list of vins for the cars used or not? my car is not bent so i don't think it was jumped but other than that i'm not sure. Noticing the whole retirement of Jeff Gordon last night got me to thinking... I've never been into NASCAR racing. I've never cared for it. Now that isn't to say that I don't like racing. No, what I grew up with and prefer instead was more akin to Hazzard's answer to racing - the Dirt Tracks. I grew up watching what I believe are referred to as Sprint Cars, racing the mud tracks - in person. I don't care for it on the TV - has to have that authenticity that comes with being there in person with the sounds and the smell of the exhaust and.. *sigh*. Anytime I see the word hazard spelled somewhere my initial response is that some dummy misspelled it and forgot a Z. Then I think twice and realizze (two zs) I'm the dummy who doesn't know how to spell. Has anybody else here had that happen to them? I guess that's a sign that you're a serious fan....and I'm proud to say I am.

There are a few options for the wiki a few of us have discussed, so I thought I'd put them out there so those interested can talk about it and help make the decision. 1. I can install and customize MediaWiki (what Wikipedia runs on). I may be able to put together a single sign on so folks wouldn't need a separate login from their forums login. This would be the most difficult option to put together and I may not be able to get it to look exactly like the rest of the site. 2. I can set up wiki like pages in the forums. I need the name of an episode where there was a good bit of ambient noise/music in the Boar's Nest without specific dialog. What I want to do is creat a loop of noise to play inside the Noar's Nest model I am currently building. When anyone gets their face close to the model to look at details, I want them to hear the 'good times' going on inside. mark

I wish I could come up with new ideas to make HazzardNet more popular again but I'm tapped out. It makes me sad to log in. It's like seeing a relative die. Am I correct in assuming there's nothing that can be done? I wonder how long it can last. This may be our last chance to brainstorm and come up with a 2017 plan to revitalize this place. It looks like Cooters Place survived the fire according to their facebook https://www.facebook.com/CootersPlace/ but a lot of the rest of the area looks devastating. My family down south of there luckily the fire didn't get near them. Keep the people there in your thoughts and if you can spare it send some money down that way to help the people rebuild their lives.

I'm pretty sure most, if not all of us have seen to issues involving the confederate flag. Well if you're like me, it's angered you. Not too long ago, Ben Jones made a post that expresses how I and many other fans feel about this issue. Bellow is what he posted. I debated on sharing it but I did and I'm proud of it. This is exactly how I feel. Those people against the flag may try to bring us down but we won't give up. (Small note. Sorry the picture is so small. I've been thinking lately how I'll never own a repicla of any vehicle from the show then it hit me.....I love dirt bikes. I have since I was little. Maybe I should consider making a replica of Mix Tisdales motorcycle. Is it possible to find out what year and engine size it was? Im no Cooter but I am good enough with dirt bikes to fix one up if I could get one that was the right model and year. I'm embarrassed I can't tell what it is by just seeing it but since I can't I hope someone can help. THANKS

You can feel that hint of Fall trying to come back around to the hills here in Hazzard County! Soon the leaves will change color and the afternoons will get cooler. The General Lee won't be the only spot of orange in the countryside as folks start decorating with pumpkins on the porch. How's the weather in your area?

Finally made it to Covington this week- I'll be posting more pics in this thread later. One highlight of the trip- we ate in a great little place called 'The Square Perk Cafe'. Great food and service. Turns out, this is the building where the infamous 'other General Lee' was parked during the chase in 'High Octane'. (click on picture below)
