Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion

Bo Duke turns 55 tomorrow (April 8). Think about this for a second. Since Uncle Jesse was born in 1920 he was 59 in 1979 when the show first came out. This means that Bo is only 4 years away from being Jesse's age! By the way, I turn 55 just 7 days after Bo so that's why I think about these things.

I can't stand The Dukes of Hazzard anymore. In fact, I've grown to hate the show. I've found this new show called Keeping up with the Kardashians that is amazing. I hope they have a KardashianNet because I want to leave here and join that if they do. The Kardashians are a billion times cooler than the Dukes. April Fools. And Happy Sadie Hogg Day!

Does anyone know if Christopher Hensel, AKA: Jebb Stuart Duke, ever goes to any of the Dukes events? I'd love to add his autograph to my collection. I almost never see anything about him on Dukes forums and I was just wondering. Yes, I know he was only in one episode but he was still a Duke Boy. In addition, what about Randy Hamilton who played Luke's brother?

I have a season one and three DVD set and a season two coming.

For years I've noticed the Hazzard Police sign at the WB set had neon tubes but I don't think I've ever seen it lit. Was it a real neon sign or just for 'show'?

I'm building a detailed model of the Hazzard Garage, trying to match everything seen in the series. There is one object in the garage that is a mystery to me- in one corner is some sort of 'hood' object. Anyone have any idea what its supposed to be (in the context of an auto repair garage)? Now, Daisy Duke is my favorite character (beside Enos, of course ): Catherine is a beautiful woman, long legs, perfect silhouette, sweet smile and blue-green eyes (I know that men out there agree). BUT Daisy Duke is also famous because of her outfits, especially those short shorts that took her name. I've always been intrigued by the one-off appearance by "(an)other Duke cousin", motorcycle riding Jeb Stuart Duke, played by Christopher Hensel, in season three's "Along Came a Duke". Odd that he would be introduced in such a way, never featured again, and in all my years collecting and writing about Dukes, I have never really found out the story behind the character. In my youth, part of me wondered if he had been introduced as a possible replacement for Bo should John Schneider ever leave - I vaguely recall an article with Schneider suggested that producers gave him a hard time after misleading them about his age when he auditioned and used to wonder if it related to …

Probably a very basic question that's already been done over the years, but what do you personally consider to the be the best season of the show? Mine would be the first season. I'm a huge fan of the original Georgia episodes, more dramatic and edgy, I've always wished that much of that had continued. Even after episode 5, the first season is a strong one for being experimental and not very generic, and with less slapstick than later seasons. Beyond season 1, which is so different it's sometimes hard to compare, I would definitely rate Season 3 as the show's best. I've always liked the episodes with Boss's maybe-even-crookeder nephew Hughie Hogg. He was always an enjoyable character, and was good to have a younger character of Bo / Luke / Daisy's own sort of age, but with Boss's cunning, for them to tackle once in a while. What is everyone's favourite (and least favourite) Hughie episodes? What is everyone's feelings on the episodes, of which there were quite a few, where a cast member would either play an identical twin of a character, or the character would have an "alter ego" change of personality? Did you like them, or did you feel they were too silly an stretched the credibility of the series; and what was the best and worst of such episodes? About a year ago I made a definitive list of all such episodes, but I though I'll let other members try to name the episodes before I give the list.

Look at the eyes of Bo, Daisy and Luke, on the cover of season 2's DVD....notice Tom Wopat's eyes! You think he is VERY sleepy or buzzed, drunk or....?? Ever notice this? I mean I guess we all know Tom is a boozer...so....???

I know that everyone in the US celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Dukes of Hazzard back in January, but in the UK it didn't start until March 3rd, 1979. Below is the listing from the Radio Times (roughly the UK equivalent of the TV Guide) from that day. As y'all can see, it was originally shown at 9 PM on a Saturday night, but soon moved to an earlier Saturday slot. Back then we only had three channels, and no breakfast or daytime TV (except programs for schools).
