The pandemic has done a number on this historic small town we love to visit several times a year. We stopped there yesterday for the first time since last December. 5 businesses are either closed or will be going out of business. Only the new bar was open for inside dining, the rest of the town's restaurants were takeout only. The town has added a few new picnic tables to help but it's going to be a rough winter for the restaurants there. The town's annual Applebutter festival which is a major influx of cash for the businesses has been cancelled. I hope not but I wouldn't be surprised if next year that town becomes a ghost town.

Kurt Busch finally won at his home track last night in the South Point 400 at Las Vegas. A late caution got him and a few others who stayed out during green flag pit stops the track position. He is now locked into the next round of playoffs. Matt Dibenedetto finished 2nd holding off a hard charging Denny Hamlin. Hopefully this will give the Wood Brothers the gumtion to give him a contract extension for next season. Not sure if it's the addition of Tyler Reddick this season or what but RCR seems to have finally given Austin some better race cars. He was battling for top 5's for the first two stages before having some issues and finishing 32nd. Top 10: 1st Kurt Busch, 2nd Matt Dibenedetto, 3rd Denny Hamlin, 4th Martin Truex jr, 5th Alex Bowman, 6th Kyle Busch, 7th Ryan Blaney, 8th Erik Jones, 9th Chris Buescher, 10th Kevin Harvick. Jimmie Johnson finished 11th in his final Vegas race.

I'm just glad their road rage didn't escalate to gunfire which has happened before locally.

Was listening to Bob & Tom on the radio this morning and the subject of which tv show would you want to live in if it was a real place came up. One if them answered Gilligan's Island but only with Ginger and Mary Anne, and also the professor because he made all those wacky inventions. Another said Andy Griffith show would be a nice place to escape from all the craziness in the world today. One even said The Simpsons because it would be cool to be yellow . For me it would be Dukes of Hazzard all the way. The wife's doing much better today. We did a little bit of garage saleing and stopped at a few stores and the weekly bank run. At the drive thru at the bank this morning we almost seen a fight between an impatient jerk and a foul mouthed guy. Mr. impatient kept laying into the horn for the other guy to move out of the drive thru so they exchanged a few foul words then the one guy put his car in park but I guess decided not to get out and went on his merry way.

How about a wrap like Nascar teams use. You wouldn't need to have a whole car wrap just the roof so I imagine it would be cheaper.

new member with a question about Bo
Spike replied to tucknroll's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
Or his pants were too tight to run in. -
I'll say 110% lol. Wore my DoH General Lee shirt this past weekend, 1st time since spring. One lady commented that she had a thing for Bo. And the Dukes channel is back on Airy.TV's Roku app, it was down for a while due to technical issues. I watched the alien episode on there last night before going to bed, I know that's one of the least liked episode's but I find that episode hilarious.

Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan teamed up to buy the Germain Racing charter and start a team for 2021 https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/09/21/denny-hamlin-michael-jordan-to-own-a-cup-team/. Darrell Bubba Wallace will be the driver and it's expected that Toyota will provide the manufacturer backing. Will be interesting to see how Nascar handles this with Denny Hamlin already competing on a 4 car team then again if Toyota's involved they'll probably change the rules. On a related note...https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/09/21/bob-germain-racing-sells-charter-michael-jordan-denny-hamlin-nascar/

Been a long day... Not sure what the wife did but pulled a muscle or something in her back. Ended up taking her to a local urgent care because she couldn't stand the pain anymore. Gave her a shot and a few prescriptions and told her to stay home from work for the next few days. Doc wants her to come back to do x-rays when she can the pain subsides. Hope it's nothing more than her muscles aching from her overworking herself.

Meal & Beer/Moonshine with Dukes cast members
Spike replied to Skipper Duke's topic in General Discussion
That's a tough one. It'd either be John Schneider, Ben Jones or Sonny Shroyer. They all seem so approachable and down to earth. John though I bet has some good stories to tell. -
Our allergies flared up over the weekend. Even a sniffle makes people look at you like a pariah in the stores these days . Scored a barn door hardware kit for $10 at a garage sale over the weekend . Going to use it on an entertainment center.

Kevin Harvick won Last night in Bristol. It's his 9th win of the season, 58th of his career which moves him up to 9th on the all time wins list. Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Cole Custer and Matt Dibenedetto got knocked out of the playoffs. Top 10: Kevin Harvick 1st, Kyle Busch 2nd, Erik Jones 3rd, Tyler Reddick 4th, Aric Almirola 5th, Clint Bowyer 6th, Chase Elliot 7th, Chris Buescher 8th, Ryan Preece 9th and Michael Mcdowell 10th. In the rumor mill this morning there's talk of Denny Hamlin buying the Germain Racing charter and Leaving Family Racing's assets and starting a team for which Bubba Wallace will drive for https://www.jayski.com/2020/09/19/bubba-wallace-not-expected-to-return-to-richard-petty-motorsports/ . Will be interesting to see if Nascar allows this as it's been stated that a driver that drives for a four car team cannot own a team or something to that matter.

Daniel Suarez leaving Guant Bros Racing at the end of the season https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/09/15/daniel-suarez-gaunt-brothers-racing-to-part-ways-after-season/ Rumor is he will be filling the vacant seat in the #43 Richard Petty Motorsports Chevy. According to this article https://beyondtheflag.com/2020/09/17/nascar-new-landing-spot-emerging-kyle-larson/ Hendrick Motorsports already has a Driver set for the #48 for 2021 but doesn't want to release the name at the moment due to 3 of his drivers being in the playoffs.

Got the majority of the painting done. Will have to wait till it warms up again next week to finish painting the cement block foundation.

Check out our local PBS listings Roger, every now and then they run a repeat of tours of British royalty castles/palaces on their 'Secrets Of' series. The episode which shows the one that Princess Diana's family owned was quite interesting.

Brad Keselowski dominated Richmond last night, leading the most laps, winning stage 2 and the race. Probably wait till October. Usually wild animals move on if their food source is gone. So yesterday I almost hit two squirrels chasing each other in the parking lot so I honked the horn and scared the bejesus out if both of them . Apparently one of them has a good memory of it, I stopped to check the mailbox today and this squirrel in a tree was giving me the business. I imagine he or she was cussing me out in squirrel language .

You might want to take down the feeders for a while, once a bear finds a food source they will keep coming back to it especially this time of year when they're trying to put on as much weight as they can before hibernating. And be sure to lock the car doors and house doors as well.

He's healthy enough, just lazy. Thing is my dad and uncles were sort of brought up to 'do for their parents even if they can do it themselves'. Which definitely isn't a bad thing but my dad tries to take advantage of it as much as possible. He either whines till you do it or he plays stupid till you have to fix his 'mistake'. I'm just to the point where it's just quicker to do it myself instead of wasting my time listening to his whining or trying to fix the crap he "screws up". Take his bathroom for example he kept doing little bandaid fixes instead of fixing the broken pipe, he whined to my one uncle till he came over and replaced the pipe and the bandaid fixes.

Darrell Bubba Wallace is not returning to Richard Petty Motorsports for 2021 https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/09/10/bubba-wallace-not-returning-to-rpm-after-this-season/ Bet he will be announced as the driver for the #42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevy in the coming days.

Looks like Jimmie Johnson will be racing for Chip Ganassi Racing next season in the Indycar series https://www.jayski.com/2020/09/09/jimmie-johnson-partnering-with-chip-ganassi-for-indycar-deal/. Wonder if Ganassi will be switching to Chevrolet engines next season as Jimmie has said he'd like to keep his partnership with Chevy.
