Welcome to HazzardNet. I don't think I've ever seen a Dukes pedal car in real life (I'm not sure if they were sold here), so I had a quick look on Ebay. There seem to be two very different types: First, there's a very basic steel one, apparently from 1979. It appears to be red rather than orange, and has a flag with too many stars on the hood. Rather than "General Lee", it says "Rebel" beside the flag, and bizarrely has "10" on the doors. The two current sellers are asking $149 and $450 respectively. The second is a plastic one made by Coleco, which is apparently from 1982. This one is definitely orange, has "General Lee" on the front fenders, "01" on the doors and a flag on the trunk. Believe it or not, sellers are asking for between $1,800 and $5,000 for these.

What went wrong with the 2005 movie?
HossC replied to Philip_Duke's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
By casting Johnny Knoxville, they were obviously after the Jackass audience, which pretty much says it all. According to IMDb, the 2005 movie had an estimated budget of $50,000,000. The opening weekend in the US & Canada (August 7, 2005) was $30,675,314. The gross for the US & Canada was $80,270,227, contributing to a worldwide gross of $111,069,515. That means that nearly 3/4 of the gross came from the US & Canada, so that must've been their market. -
What went wrong with the 2005 movie?

The soundtrack was quite good, but the characters and general ethos/values of the movie bore very little resemblance to the TV show. It was as if the writers had never seen the original series and just created their own back story and history to target a difference audience. The 2007 movie rewrote everything again with characters' ages and history differing from the TV show and the 2005 movie. For example, we all know from 'Happy Birthday, General Lee' that the Duke Boys found the General in a junkyard and painted it orange in Cooter's Garage, yet the 2005 movie starts with General having faded paint and crude graphics, and the 2007 movie has them finding an orange Charger with faded graphics at the bottom of a lake. This seems to happen a lot with movie remakes of 70s/80s TV shows. The Starsky & Hutch movie was a year before the first Dukes one. I've only seen it once, and it wasn't very memorable. The A-Team movie was in 2010, and while a couple of the original cast had cameos at the end, it was overloaded with ridiculous CGI. The trailer for the 2017 CHiPs movie was enough to put me off ever wanting to see it! -
Welcome, Rob. There's not a lot to go on for the location of Osage County. Being one of the later episodes, my guess would be either Lyons Canyon or Pico Canyon, both to the west of the I5 at Santa Clarita. Lyons Canyon was used for the Duke Farm and the Boar's Nest as well as many chase scenes in that era. Looking at the recent aerial views, it's now fairly overgrown and the 1980s roads aren't so easy to see. Pico Canyon was used in a few episodes as well as for shows like Knight Rider. It's wider and more open than Lyons Canyon. The eastern end has been developed and changed since the '80s, but the main canyon looks virtually the same.

Are you sure it was a '68? I found various references to Alan Hale Jr owning a '65 Shelby Mustang GT350. You can see a picture here which shows him sitting in the car outside his Lobster Barrel restaurant on La Cienega in Los Angeles. The only '65 Mustang I remember in Dukes was the yellow one in which Bo and Luke returned and Coy and Vance departed. I say "only" because I think it's likely that they used car in 'No More Mr. Nice Guy' as one of Daisy's fake prizes.

Happy Anniversary/Birthday Dukes of Hazzard

You can see the thread for the 40th anniversary here. -
For anyone who hasn't seen 'Smokey and the Bandit II', the doctor was talking about Charlotte the elephant.

Once again you've missed out a lot of the quote and you've also attributed some of the lines to the wrong people. Can you either make your quotes accurate or make it clear that you're paraphrasing? The scene, which takes place just after Cledus (and the audience) first see the Trans Am, actually plays out like this: Snowman: Now, you know them Smokeys they got them CBs in the car now? You know that? Bandit: I know that, I know that, I haven't worked that out yet, but I'm thinkin' about it. Snowman: Hey. Bandit: You got an idea? Snowman: I got an idea. Bandit: Yeah? Snowman: Why don't we do this? If I say go to channel 21, forget it. We ain't goin' to 21, we're goin' to 19. Bandit: 21 is 19? Snowman: 21 is 19. And if I say go to channel six, forget it. We go to three. Bandit: I don't go to six, I go to three? Snowman: You go to three. Bandit: Perfect. Snowman: And if I say go to channel two, we gonna go to channel one. Bandit: Two is one. Snowman: See, that'll confuse everybody. Bandit: That'll confuse 'em. On the other hand, if we stayed on the odd channels, switched every time and started in the basement, that'd work, too, ha?. That'd do it, too, wouldn't it? Snowman: Well, yeah, yeah, that'd work too, I guess. Bandit: Let's haul ass. Snowman: OK.

Despite Boss having a driver since 'One Armed Bandits', this is the first time he's named. Shortly after this line, Boss is standing in front of a sign advertising the "Hazzard County Fair Mon Oct 30 - Sat Nov 11". Those days/dates line up to a 1978 calendar, nearly a year before this episode aired, but I suppose that makes more sense than setting it a couple of weeks in the future. -
Gardai (the police) are still waiting to question a man admitted to hospital a couple of days ago with what might be self-inflicted wounds. Another man was arrested and questioned soon after the attack, but despite Gardai releasing him and saying he's no longer a suspect, he was named on social media and had to go into hiding! The incident may have brought people together, but it's not going to lead to unification. Brexit has added extra complications to the trade relationships between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and also between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.

Yesterday afternoon, along with some friends, I attended a vigil for a young teacher, 23-year-old Ashling Murphy, who was murdered last week. Her death seems to have united not only Ireland, but also Irish communities around the world, with vigils being held in far away places such as New York. It was a moving occasion with a short circular walk led by local politicians and council members followed by a couple of brief speeches and a song from a local choir. Luckily, we had a beautiful, crisp winter's day with hardly a cloud in the sky. I haven't seen any official figures for attendance, but I'd says that a few hundred people turned up.

Skipper, you seem to have missed a few lines and combined two scenes. The first scene is when Carrie is changing out of her wedding dress: Bandit: Last time I saw legs like that they had a message tied to 'em. Carrie: What do you mean? These are great little legs. I'm a professional. Bandit: Well, in that case, you shouldn't be dressed in white. Carrie: Dancer. Bandit: Oh. Well, cowboys love fat calves. Carrie: They're not fat. Bandit: They're bigger than mine. Carrie: Do we really wanna talk about legs? Bandit: Well, one of us does. The second scene is about 30 minutes later, just after Carrie meets Snowman. Carrie: You know, I was on Broadway once. Bandit: Really? Carrie: For almost 12 minutes. Bandit: Oh. Carrie: The show closed the first night.

Thanks for asking, Roger. The incision scars have nearly healed and the shoulder pain finally seems to have gone. I guess that means that the worst is over.

I finished 9 days of isolation yesterday. I got a positive antigen test on New Year's Day and so did a friend who I was with the day before. Unfortunately, probably partly due to the holidays, it took just over a week to get a PCR test (my friend somehow got theirs a couple of days earlier). The negative result came back last night, so I've finally started 2022 a week late! The most annoying thing is that halfway through last week the brand of antigen test that gave me a positive result was withdrawn from shops amid reports of false positives. In the end, I probably never had Covid, but you can't be too careful.

I don't think they know yet. The article I read said "The sheriff’s office confirmed that no cause of death had been determined, saying in a statement there were no signs of foul play or drug use."

Over here, NRA means the National Roads Authority. I believe it means something different to you.

Tractor Lamborghini had a successful tractor business when he bought two Ferraris (circa early '60s). Soon afterwards he went back to Ferrari to suggest improvements, and was basically told to get lost, so he decided to build his own sports cars. I occasionally see new Lamborghini tractors, but they're far from the most popular make over here.

In the UK they generally use a procedure called TPAC (Tactical Pursuit And Containment) where the police cars surround the target vehicle and then gradually slow down. I used to see foxes regularly when I lived in London, even sometimes during the day. I can't remember seeing any in Ireland.
