quotes Favorite Dukes of Hazzard Quotes
HossC replied to Skipper Duke's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
This is a forum, not Facebook. You've spent the last two weeks moaning about Facebook, yet you seem surprised that information received through it is wrong. I'd put Facebook right near the bottom of the pile when it comes to reliable online sources. That's why I regard HazzardNet so highly - there's room for debate and corrections, but the latter are rarely needed because members take time to research their posts if they're posting something factual (and credit sources). I'd rather you posted one accurate, funny quote a week than three dodgy ones every day. The point of favorite quotes is that they're memorable lines that stand out for some reason or other. They're not about cutting and pasting from elsewhere internet. You messaged me recently about my artwork appearing on Facebook (something that I have had to accept happens), but you're basically doing the same thing by reposting here. The reference sections of HazzardNet (of which this thread is a part) are about quality, not quantity. Also, it took you three posts (above) just to reply to one of mine, wasting space with nonsense. Get your ideas together and check your sources before posting. I'm not expecting every quote to be word perfect, but it shouldn't be my job to correct your posts just because you were too lazy to verify them. That's not part of a moderator's duties, but I'm trying to maintain the high standards that have kept HazzardNet online for so long. -

Skipper, I don't know where you got the first lines from, because the scene goes like this: Jesse: "You boys knew when you got your probation that you were supposed to report to your Hazzard County Probation Officer every once in a while. Now, now isn't that true?" Bo: "Yes sir, we did." Jesse: "Well, then why didn't you?" Bo: "Because they never told us who the dang guy was." Jesse: "Watch your language." Bo: "Yes, sir." Daisy: "Well, I guess you know who it is now." Luke: "Yeah, when it comes to nailing us, Boss is getting to be a master at splitting hair." Maybe you've mixed in lines from this scene in 'Days of Shine and Roses' when they're deciding the rules of the race: Cooter: "All right, y'all. There's one more thing, that's the cargo. It'll be the usual 10 gallons of shine..." Jesse: "Now just a minute. The Dukes don't run no real shine. We made a deal with the US of A Federal Government and we don't renege. Besides, I don't want to jeopardize these boys' probation. So we carry water. Ten jugs of water. Is that agreed?" I've said several times on the Smokey and the Bandit thread, either make your quotes accurate or make it clear that you're paraphrasing. There's enough incorrect information on the internet without any need for HazzardNet to add to it! -

Is there a problem with posts being visible on this thread, because people seem to keep missing them.

Just a quick detour to try and clear up this question. Here's the best grab of the sign that I could get. I'm now 99% sure that it's "REV. F.D. BACHMAN, SR.". I wonder if this version of the sign appeared in any other episodes. Now back to the thread - we're looking for a "D" word.
-
State of the COUNTY No we didn't. Boss JD Hogg actually posted "LiQuor" for Q. It's between "PEGGY Rea" and "REVEREND Ed Bachmann".
-
ACE Parker It's very difficult to get a clear screengrab, but when Cletus catches Bo and Luke by not chasing them around the church in 'The Canterbury Crock' (about 30 minutes in), the name on the church sign appears to be "REV. ED. BACHMAN, SR.". However, it could be "REV. F.D. BACHMAN, SR.", which would be the same format as "REV. J.P. FRAWLEY". Edit: I've tried going through the scene frame by frame, and I'm slightly leaning towards "REV. F.D. BACHMAN, SR.".

MaXine The dog from 'A Boy's Best Friend'.

VALENCIA Oaks Movie Ranch (filming location) I don't remember him either, Hobie. I did a search of the forum, and found a couple of mentions in lists of Hazzard residents and the Duke or Dupe game. I think Roger might have said somewhere that his name was on the church sign at some point, but all the screengrabs I have show Rev. J.P. Frawley. I'm pretty sure that he never appeared in the show and wasn't even mentioned in dialog. Maybe his name was a nod to Cathy, whose birth name was Catherine Bachman.

After several seasons which left their fans disappointed, the new rules have given Ferrari a chance to build a very fast car this year. They also have a very talented young driver in Charles Leclerc. Unfortunately, they have thrown away a lot of points this year with bad reliability resulting in non-finishes, and a few more in bad strategy decisions. I just hope they can improve their reliability and Mercedes can sort out their aerodynamics. Then we'll have a great three-way fight between Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes.

Today's race was the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku - a fast street circuit with a 2.22km main straight. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc started in pole position, but Red Bull's Sergio Perez took the lead at the first corner. It wasn't a good day for Ferrari - both of their cars retired with mechanical issues, as did two other Ferrari-powered cars. That left Red Bull to take the 1-2 finish as Max Verstappen beat his team mate, Sergio Perez. Despite their cars "porpoising" on the straights, Mercedes came home in 3rd and 4th, with George Russell beating Lewis Hamilton. The "porpoising" hurt Lewis' back, and he took a while to get out of his car at the end of the race. Pierre Gasly got a good 5th place finish for AlphaTauri, followed by Sebastian Vettel in his Aston Martin. Red Bull now lead the Drivers' and Constructors' championships. You can see the highlights here. It's only a week until the next race as F1 heads back to North America for the first Canadian Grand Prix since 2019.

LAWMAN of the Year Roger, just FYI, the closed captions spell his name "Darcy Kinkaid".

This time you've not only misquoted, but also mixed up scenes from two different movies! The first part is from near the start of the first movie when Big and Little Enos make the bet with Bandit at the Roadeo. Bandit: "Well, let's see, there's 400 cases of beer. I'll need the cash for that." Big Enos: "No problem, go ahead boy." [Little Enos starts counting out money] Bandit: "New car, I got to have a new car to block for the truck, you know." Big Enos: "OK, go ahead boy." [Little Enos counts out more money] Little Enos: "I'd like to kick his ass just once." Bandit: "Speedy car." [Little Enos counts out more money] Bandit: "Speedier than that." [Little Enos looks at Big Enos] Big Enos: "Go ahead." [Little Enos whinnies like a horse] The second part is from the third movie, SATB III. The exchange doesn't even involve Bandit - it's between Little Enos and Buford. Little Enos: "I'd like to kick your ass." Buford T. Justice: "You can't kick that high, cricket crotch." Can I suggest that you re-watch the movies before posting quotes? Also, we get that you don't like Facebook. You've made at least four posts on the subject in the last 24 hours, and also previously in this thread. Facebook is what it is - it's not going to change. If you're unhappy with it, stop using it. You don't need to make regular multiple gripes about it here.
