I took these screengrabs from the first three episodes of season 1. It wasn't easy because the cars keep swapping between a '75 Monaco, a '70 Polara and a '75 Gran Fury mid-chase! As you can see, there were no fender decals on the '75 Monaco (or the other Georgia patrol cars). The side stripes appear to have been cut to accommodate the door decals, and the stripe on the back doors doesn't line up with the front doors or fenders. Finally, there is a "SHERIFF" decal between the rear lights. When I did my FanArt patrol cars, I used the font Compacta Bd stretched a bit to replicate the "HAZZARD COUNTY" and "SHERIFF" decals, but you may have a better match. I think mine were based on the later decals. I custom drew the "COUNTY SHERIFF" text in the badge. Obviously the decal positioning you use depends on whether you want to copy the '75 Monaco in the early episodes or go for the more generic look of the later episodes.

It's looking good, but I think the "SHERIFF" decals use a more condensed font. I'll see if I can get a good screengrab to check my hunch.

I thought I'd give Olivia Newton-John some space, but we also lost prolific songwriter Lamont Dozier on Monday at the age of 81. If the name's not familiar, he was part of the very successful Holland–Dozier–Holland Motown songwriting team who wrote hits for artists such as Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers. Skipper's already started a thread about the sad passing of Olivia Newton-John, so here's Xanadu from 1980:

Very sad news. Olivia Newton-John was originally diagnosed with breast cancer 30 years ago, and has been a long-time advocate for breast cancer research. FYI. All the sources I've seen said she was 73 years old.

I've just read the sad news that Roger E. Mosley, best known for playing Theodore "T.C." Calvin in 'Magnum P.I.', has died following a car crash in Los Angeles last week. He was 83. T.C. was Thomas Magnum's helicopter flying buddy from their time in Vietnam. From the article I read, Gerald McRaney was previously considered for the part of T.C. He was also once considered for the part of Luke Duke, but his only appearance in Dukes was as a workman in 'Hazzard Connection'. McRaney finally went on to take lead roles in 'Simon & Simon' and 'Major Dad'.

Today I got to spend my first day this year at the seaside. We found a quiet beach about an hour away and had blue skies all day. I even got into the sea three times!

I was taken to speedway a few times when I was young, but that was probably 40 years ago now. Since then, I've never really been interested in two-wheeled motorsport, but add another two wheels and I'll most likely watch it!

I was just checking F1 news (I didn't expect there to be much as we're just into the summer break), and a few things caught my eye. Following 4-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel's decision to retire at the end of the season, 2-time World Champion Fernando Alonso is set to take his place at Aston Martin. Story here. Honda, while not officially taking part in F1, will continue to support Red Bull's engine program until 2025. Porsche are rumored to be entering F1 and may become Red Bull's new engine partner when the rules change in 2026. Story here. After failing to be part of the winning takeover bid for Chelsea Football Club back in April, Lewis Hamilton has now joined the incoming ownership group of three-time Super Bowl winners the Denver Broncos. You missed Lulu's first line in that scene, "Ace, this is gonna ruin my birthday." Bo's line is definitely "Sounds like another satisfied customer."

Mainland Europe has had it a hotter than here. Portugal, Spain and France reported temperatures of around 46°C (115°F) and have had forest fires like California. The UK recorded a new high of 40.3°C (104.5F). Ireland just missed out on a new record with 33.1°C (91.6°F) (the record of 33.3°C (91.9°F) was set in 1887). I've read that several US cities are reporting temperatures in these ranges. It's quite close and clammy here now, but the temperature highs are only in the mid-20s C (high-70s F). Meanwhile, I see that the death toll in the Kentucky floods is up to 37.

I forgot to mention that I went to a local vintage car show yesterday. It was mainly all European models, with a couple of Japanese ones. I think the only US car was a bright red C3 Corvette. There were also about 20 tractors and two old fire engines shooting water back into the river. We had heavy rain on Saturday night, so it was a pleasant surprise that the sun came out for the show. The only downside was that half of these "vintage" cars were around when I was younger - it can make a person feel old!
