Well, shucks... LOL. Thanks. We do our best to make HNet the kinda place we, as loyal Dukes fans, would like to hang out and well, turns out lots of other Dukes fans like to hang out here too. I'm gonna pick up a couple copies of HRM tomorrow... one to read, one to put in plastic to preserve. Oh, and maybe one to take apart to frame artistically and hang on the wall. Khee! It truly is an honor and a thrill for HazzardNet to be mentioned by Hot Rod magazine. When I told my dad, he was really excited. Mom's gonna pick up a copy for him. He's the one responsible for my love of cars and Dukes of Hazzard (we used to watch the original run together when I was little), so in some small way he's partly responsible for HazzardNet.

I'd put a value of $200-250 on it, but realistically, it's whatever someone's willing to pay. Just Denver and Sorrell's autographs alone are probably worth $80-100 together. I'd keep it though. =) Value also depends on if the autographs are personalized to someone. If they are, it'd be worth less than if they weren't.

Two people from the agency I worked for at the time, the Defense Logistics Agency, were on planes that hit the towers. I didn't know them personally, but some of my co-workers did. My dad was at the WTC weeks before the 1993 bombing. He knew people who worked at 6 World Trade Center, the US Customs House, when it was destroyed in the 9/11 attacks. I'm just glad my dad retired the year before 9/11. Psalm 27.

I woke up to the news on my clock radio that a plane had hit one of the towers. Having had a lifelong love of airplanes and having spent most of my career to that point related to aircraft, I didn't think it was an accident. When I turned on the tv and saw the second plane hit, I knew we were under attack. I called into work to see what the situation was. I worked in a Federal building at the time. They were on complete lockdown and told me not to come in. They only wanted essential personnel (in this case, security) there. I spent the day watching the horrific coverage and praying for those affected by the whole event. We lived near LAX and the city airport was just a few blocks from us, so it was very eery not hearing any aircraft overhead. My parents were supposed to be flying home from visiting my sister in Seattle that day, so needless to say I was very anxious until I heard from them. Since all flights were grounded, they quickly rented a car (before everyone else decided to as well) and drove back home. A friend of mine's parents were supposed to be flying home from Logan Airport in Boston that day and he was extremely upset that he didn't hear from them because one of the planes that hit the towers was out of Logan. He finally heard from them the following day. They were ok and making alternate arrangements to get home. My husband was living in upstate NY at the time and vividly remembers the only planes overhead being fighter jets flying over from the local air base. It was very nerve-wracking for him, as he wasn't fully aware of the extent of the attacks until he got home later that day. I remember all this as if it was yesterday. It's something that is seared into my memory.

I'll have you know I sneaked back and left an extra $20 tip for their trouble while you weren't lookin'. LOL. (Who says Dukes fans aren't good tippers!??!) I'd have hated to have to clean that table up after our "french fry football" game. Or was it tater tots?

By my calculations, WB would have had to have sold $100,000,000 in merchandise with Jimmie's likeness on it to owe him $5 million (and half a billion to get to $25 million). That seems a little high to me (considering the 2005 movie didn't even gross that much.) WB contends it's sold about $3.5 million in merchandise. That might be a little low. As Brian said, I think the truth lies somewhere in between.

I remember that place. Don't they usually have the Luray County Fair around that time of year too? That was a blast when we went. That was almost 10 years ago. Wow, how time flies.

No, this is just all part of my plan. Everyone forgot all about me and I slipped out using the failsafes I put in place to ensure I didn't get trapped by some over ambitious moderators. Y'all haven't even noticed I escaped yet!

If I recall correctly, the place is on route 211. The motel we stayed at in 2001 was reasonable. It was fairly clean, though a tad "older". Brian probably remembers what the place was called, as I don't. We'll research this and get back to ya.

I've been there a lot over the years. Misheard lyrics are called mondegreens. The name comes from a poem that writer Sylvia Wright misheard when she was young... Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands, Oh, where hae ye been? They hae slain the Earl O' Moray, And laid him on the green. The last line was misheard as "And Lady Mondegreen". Check out Elton's page.
