  1. I was lucky to build most of my collection when there were nearly two dollars to the pound. Postage back then was about $40 for the first model and then $10-15 for each one after that (when ordered together). I was also lucky that the Post Office only charged me import taxes a couple of times! You can buy them from UK sellers on a well-known auction site, but they're around £90-100. If it's any consolation, they will almost certainly go up in value
  2. If you're after some consolation: there, their, they're!
  3. Here you go Roger - a quick guide to commas: I can have a look through the reviews if you like, Roger.
  4. If you edit a post it will stay in the same place. It won't appear in the list of recent activity, and the only way we'll know that it's edited (unless you tell us) is the "Edited [Date] by RogerDuke" line at the end.
  5. I haven't seen the movie, but IMDb says that Phil Hartman played Ted Maltin in 'Jingle All the Way'. What a coincidence that this thread is discussing one of Arnie's co-stars when the episode review thread is discussing Kevin Peter Hall being in 'Predator'.
  6. On the old forum there used to be a 10 minute window to edit posts. With the current setup I think you can go back anytime and edit old posts, but that may be an ability only open to people with a certain number of posts or who've been granted permission - I'm really not sure how it works, but I'm pretty sure that you can do it. Now that I'm a moderator, I can edit everyone's posts, so it's difficult for me to try it out! If you feel the need to redo season 1, go ahead. It makes more sense to have the episodes in order, but people who've already read your original reviews may miss your updates, so maybe you could put a post at the end when you've completed them. I don't remember there being anything wrong with your season 1 reviews, but now you've reached the end, you probably see the first ones differently.
  7. Yes, I have grabs of various details like the signs, the lights etc. You can see a bitmap version of my Boar's Nest sign artwork in the Fan Art thread. It was one of my first designs, so it's a bit bright and clean. You'll see some of the later signs in the thread look more weathered.
  8. I've just looked through my screengrabs, and all I have at the moment are detail views. I also checked online, but it just showed me how many people were using my artwork to make money for themselves. Many years ago, my Boar's Nest sign was sent in good faith to someone who claimed they wanted it to make a banner for their child's birthday, and then it started popping up in various forms on different products. I'm flattered when someone uses my artwork for a personal project, but it's not so easy to see people using it make money without being in the loop!
  9. Welcome to HNet, Charger UK. I'd be surprised if there weren't similar pictures of the Boar's Nest somewhere here already, but maybe you need a good wide view. If no one else has anything, I'll have a look at the weekend. I'll just point out that screengrabs of wide angles views aren't going to have great resolution. Let us know more about your diorama and hopefully it'll inspire our search.
  10. Thanks, Skipper. It's Roger who's put in the work on this thread. I wonder if John had any other story ideas that never got made. Maybe they got included in his later works such as "Collier & Co."
  11. 'Opening Night at the Boar's Nest' was written and directed by John Schneider - his first credit in each category for the show and his career. Thanks for writing these reviews, Roger. It's been a while since I've seen some of the later episodes, so these have acted as good reminders. It's also great to get a different viewpoint and add some background.
  12. It's funny how some shows have a big finale and others just finish. M*A*S*H and Cheers have the highest US ratings for their last shows, but I didn't expect Magnum to come in a #5 (see this list). I can think of a couple of UK TV shows that didn't have a definitive ending, which always leaves the door open for another season or Christmas special. UK shows tend to have much shorter seasons compared to shows in the US, but often get an extended episode at Christmas which may or may not be part of the current season.
  13. The cartoon reviews are complete - Roger finished them last week. There were only 20 episodes.
  14. When the bad guys talk about "that radio show years ago... that started a riot", they're more than likely referring to Orson Welles and his 1938 "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast.

What a roller-coaster race for George Russell. He started second, but took the lead by the first corner and kept it for most of the race. Then a safety car triggered a rushed pit stop where Mercedes put a mixed set of tires on his car, some of which should have gone on his team mate's car. He made a second stop to fix the problem, and was making his way back to the front when he got a puncture when he was just over two seconds off the lead. He again fought his way up the field, but with so few laps left, he could only manage ninth place. Nevertheless, he scored two points for the place and a bonus for the fastest lap, which are his first F1 points. Ironically, the incident that caused the safety car was a spin by Jack Aitken, who was driving George Russell's regular race car. Still, I think he proved himself today, and hopefully it won't be long before he's in a more competitive car. BTW. George wasn't penalized for the tire error, but the team were fined €20,000.
  16. You didn't see a "black '68 coupe" [sic] in any of the junkyards did you?
  17. Mystery The original game is Cluedo - Clue just seems to be used in the US and Canada. The character Mr. Green is known as Reverend Green outside of North America.

It's been a good weekend so far for George Russell in Lewis' Mercedes. He was fastest in the first two practice sessions, and qualified second for the race, just 0.026 seconds behind his new team mate Valtteri Bottas.

They'll be another familiar surname on the F1 grid this weekend. Pietro Fittipaldi, the grandson of two-time Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, will be driving Romain Grosjean's Haas while Romain continues to recover from last week's crash.

    One Word Song Titles

I don't watch any soap operas, but I don't think they've introduced any real life spouses or mannequins over here. Some of the quiz and panel shows that I watch have returned with the participants separated by transparent screens which hardly show on camera.
