Kahne to test in Hendrick's No. 5 car at Charlotte
I posted the news of Red Bull pulling out of NASCAR in the news thread back in June. I haven't been watching NASCAR long enough to have an opinion on Kahne moving teams, but I do find it interesting that Red Bull are pulling out. The won both the drivers' and constructors' trophies in last year's Formula 1 championship, and look set to do the same again this year. Obviously NASCAR just didn't work out for them.

This lady isn't painted This song was written for, and featured in a couple of years ago. The picture of Eva Longoria (I hear she's in a popular TV show) is because she appeared in another commercial for a similar product (from the same company) around the same time. The similarity between this song and has been much commented upon. The worrying thing about my last post is that YouTube offered me a version by the cast of Glee - is nothing safe .

Hot Rod magazine cover story Smokey Vs The Dukes
I doubt that I'll be able to get hold of a copy of Hot Rod, and the ebay link on the HazzardNet home page wants $6.99 for the magazine and $14.99 to send it here . Hot Rod Magazine's website has an interview with John Schneider and some exclusive, web only pictures (and even mentions HazzardNet!).

2011 Sprint Cup race reviews and results
I am, as you know, disinterested (but not uninterested) in the result. Maybe next season I'll pick a driver to follow .

2011 Sprint Cup race reviews and results
I watched about the last 75 laps, and not much happened. JG was leading when I tuned in, but slipped back to about 10th because they had to restart his car at the pit stop. He made it up to 3rd, and less than a second behind the leader, before dropping back to save fuel. Meanwhile, Clint Bowyer took the lead for a while, but ran out of fuel with 3 laps to go, leaving an easy win for Smoke.

I've only got a few 'sweet' songs left myself, so I thought I'd include this one. It should be acceptable, seeing as we're in the Hazzard Swamp - besides, I'm sure y'all have been waiting for it with antici ... pation!

I never intended this 'Rise' theme to go on this long, but while we're on it, I have one more: Wikipedia claims that Bob Dylan liked the song so much he let Gabrielle use the sample of Knocking on Heaven's Door for free.

I'll take it back a decade ... Apparently this version, that was a hit in the UK, didn't chart in the US. The was by The Drifters, and I see that Tony Orlando also covered it in his brief solo career (although I can't find a video of that one).

You've set the mood now Brian. From the same era: Check out the great suits in the video. It's interesting looking at the cross-Atlantic time delay back in the '70s. The Tony Orlando & Dawn song charted in the US in '73, but '74 in the UK. Conversely, this song charted in '74 in the UK and '75 in the US.

They do on the video, they didn't on the album cover: It's a fun album. I'm glad I bought it in 1992 because I haven't seen it since. I'll continue with some more '80s pop: This was from about seven years before they bored everyone senseless by spending 15 weeks at #1 in the UK charts with their cover of 'Love is All Around' from the soundtrack to the 1994 film 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'.

I've looked into it - the commercial did star Claudia Schiffer, but it was for a different French car maker; Citroën. Here is that commercial for the Citroën Xsara Coupé: The album I have it on is this one. It has some great tracks on it including (listed as 'Boss Hogg' on the album).

Tell me you've never had a few beers and found yourself singing along to Neil Diamond and I'll take your derision like a man . This song was released in 1992, but the album was recorded in mono. It could almost be a lost early Rolling Stones session.

Signs of Hazzard
I've done the 'Hoggoco' logo - the only place I've used it so far is my Dukes NASCAR. I'll have to do a larger version for this thread. As for JD's other products, I'll look into doing some of them.

We may have stopped 'talking', but I've got loads more 'sweet' songs if we carry that theme on .

Signs of Hazzard
These signs are from the hijacked trucks in 'Road Pirates'. The globe on the 'Southern Express Co.' sign is deliberately not symmetrical because that's how it appeared in the show.

Thought I'd continue the 'Rise' theme. This is a moody instrumental track that I have on a CD of music used for commercials, although I can't remember what commercial it was used for. MaryAnne, thanks for reminding me of Herb Alpert - I'll have dig my album out. - One Word Song Titles
