  1. Good question waikiki, I had to check the addresses to be sure. MASH was made by Fox, so the sound stages used were the 20th Century Fox Studios (10201 Pico Blvd., Century City, Los Angeles). These are the Warner Brothers Burbank Studios (4000 Warner Boulevard, Burbank, California). The exterior shots for MASH were filmed at Malibu Creek State Park (1925 Las Virgenes Road, Calabasas, California), which is less than 40 miles from Golden Oak Ranch and Valencia Oaks Movie Ranch where most of the Dukes' exterior shots were filmed. The speedway circuit used in 'The Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough' and 'Carnival of Thrills' is just north of the other Dukes locations - apparently it's now used for swapmeets. IMDb's filming locations page also lists the Paramount Ranch (2813 Cornell Road, Agoura, California) as being used for 'The Late J.D. Hogg' - this is very close to the MASH location. If anyone has additional filming locations around LA, please let me know.
  2. Sorry Roger, it's not Mel. After ceaseless weeks of trying I finally seem to have stumped everyone . I'll narrow it down, he was in the episode 'Hazzard Connection'.

  7. I've just spotted this in 'The Great Santa Claus Chase' from season 3. We know how close the sound stages are from my previous grab. After Bo and Luke steal Rosco's patrol car, Rosco jumps into another car saying he's 'commandering' [sic] it. As they chase around the square they head for Rhuebottom's and pass O'Connor Paint Supply, which it can clearly be seen is just a front. As the second picture shows (Cletus driving by later in the same episode), from another angle it looks like a solid building. Just to be overly pedantic, after Rosco crashes through Rhuebottom's fruit stand (which is next to Cooter's), the back projection clearly shows the Telephone Company which is on the other side of the square.
  8. Thanks Charger, I started a brief explanation here: Vector Art 101 If you want to know more then post your queries in that thread and I'll do my best to answer.

    NASCAR news

From what I've read around the internet, this seems to have been met with mixed responses. Most seem to agree that simplification is a good idea, but most also say that the new system would give no real incentives to go for the win. A couple of alternative suggestions have been put forward including allocating the points as above after each quarter of the race. Others have said that the system needs to be top-heavy to reward wins. The points system in F1 has been tweaked over the last couple of years and worked well last year: 1st – 25 points 2nd – 18 points 3rd – 15 points 4th – 12 points 5th – 10 points 6th – 8 points 7th – 6 points 8th – 4 points 9th – 2 points 10th – 1 point With 12 teams (24 drivers) in it this year, 14 drivers will go home with no points, so there's normally good midfield racing at the end as they scramble for the last point. Also the big gaps at the top give a good incentive to win. The points total at the end of the year plays a part in pit position and revenue in the next year. Indycar also has a top-heavy system: 1st - 50 points 2nd - 40 points 3rd - 35 points 4th - 32 points 5th - 30 points 6th - 28 points 7th - 26 points 8th - 24 points 9th - 22 points 10th - 20 points 11th-17th get 19 down to 13 points (single point drops) 18th-24th get 12 points 25th -33rd get 10 points I think I would agree that the 35-year-old system needs simplifying (I've been watching for a while and haven't picked it up fully yet), but the new system doesn't seen like the right solution.
  11. This is Boss Hogg's Triple White 1970 Cadillac DeVille Convertible. I was tempted to cheat and do it with the roof up like it was in 'Daisy's Song', which would have saved me having to do the interior , but this is how we remember it. Aside from the horns on the hood changing slightly during the show's run, it stayed pretty much the same. One notable exception to this is the door mirrors which are usually the stock, rectangular Cadillac ones in long shots (and as I've used here), but change to circlular, non-Cadillac ones in close-up studio shots. I'm guessing this is because the word 'Cadillac' appears prominently on them. I've included all the stock badges/emblems in my version.
  12. Well done waikiki. Robert Alda presented Daisy with her Jeep when he played millionaire C.J. Holmes in 'The Runaway'. I loved those MASH episodes when he appeared with son Alan. Q. I was re-watching the Clint Eastwood movie 'Any Which Way You Can' earlier today. In that movie (and the previous movie 'Every Which Way But Loose') the leader of the Black Widows biker gang (Cholla) was played by an actor who also guested in season 2 of Dukes, but what's his name?.
  13. I agree with Charger. I normally watch my way through all the episodes in order, and after you get used to Coy and Vance (and after Coy and Vance settle in) their episodes are quite watchable. I am glad that Bo and Luke returned, but I would have been quite happy to see Coy and Vance coming back to appear with their cousins for an episode or two, say like when Jeb Stewart Duke showed up in 'Along Came a Duke'.
  14. If I'm watching a whole episode I sit back and watch it on the TV, but if I want a screengrab I skip through it on the computer until I find the right frame (mostly with subtitles off, but I thought I'd include them for this one).
  15. This was bugging me because I remembered the scene, but it took nearly 24 hours to remember where from. You threw me by saying Atlanta because they only actually went to Atlanta in 'Daisy's Song' (season 1), although they re-used the footage of the General on the freeway heading to Atlanta in 'Along Came a Duke' (season 3), and said they were going there a couple of other times. The scene you're talking about is in 'No More Mr. Nice Guy' (season 7). Bo and Luke return to the department store in Capitol City that gave Daisy the millionth customer prize, only to find out they know nothing about it.
  16. I'd forgotten about the Barenaked Ladies' video. It not only features General Lee, but also the Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino - just like 'One Armed Bandits' all over again . Having said that, there's no flag on the General's roof and it's a '68 not a '69. Weird Al's parody of this song was Jerry Springer, which by a strange coincidence has just come on TV while I'm writing this. I also posted 'Jerry Springer' as a reply in the 'Word Association' thread earlier today - there's just no escaping the man. At least I have a remote to look for something better to watch - I think there's a Dukes DVD in the player .
  17. All of you were right . As Daney said, Jo Ann Pflug played Helen Hogan on the 'Route 7-11'. She was Lt. 'Dish' in MASH, and Samantha 'Big Jack' Jack in 'The Fall Guy'. According to her bio on IMDb she was born in Atlanta, GA and now tours with her own motivational seminars. I've always thought it would be a silent 'P' - 'flug' (pronounced floog') is the German word for a flight. This is a guess, so if anyone has the right answer, please let us know. In the meantime, here's a picture (new question below): Q. Which guest actor from season 2 of Dukes is the father of one of the lead actors in the TV series of MASH, appearing twice in that series?.

    Daisy's Jeep

I finally got 'round to watching 'Arrest Jesse Duke' again, and MaryAnne and Roger were right about the doors. It also means I was wrong about 'The Runaway' being the only episode with the Golden Eagle decals on the hood, they're here too (the Jeep logos haven't been covered up yet either). Initially I didn't watch this episode when I was answering BoJames's question because it's 2 episodes before Daisy was given the Jeep - I guess it balances out the Road Runner appearing a couple of episodes after it was destroyed .
