  1. Thanks for your birthday wishes :).

    Commercials

While we're on car commercials, the twist at the end of this current Renault advert amuses me: The girl is French actress/model Margaux Van Den Plas, so I guess that explains the dodgy English dialog dubbing.
  3. Hola Carlos, gracias por los saludos de cumpleaños. Acabo de ver la primera práctica para la carrera de F1 en Brasil. ¿Ves F!?. El clima se ve bien en Brasil. ¿Cómo es el clima en Argentina?.

Hi Carlos, thanks for the birthday greetings. I have just watched the first practice for the F1 race in Brazil. Do you watch F!?. The weather looks nice in Brasil. How is the weather in Argentina?.

  4. Welcome to HazzardNet :).

  5. Here's the raised General from 'Arrest Jesse Duke', and the front of the General from the scene you mentioned in 'Comrade Duke'. In the first one the silvery gray marks are outside the narrow pushbar. In the second they are inside the wider pushbar design. From a quick Google search it appears that the pushbars in the show were usually welded directly to the front bumper (most of the time they didn't need any real strength). Apparently this isn't recommended for people building replicas - maybe someone who owns a replica can comment on this. I'm guessing that the chrome finish on the bumper had been destroyed by having a different sized pushbar welded to it, and the silvery gray patches are a 'quick fix' paint job to cover this up.
  6. It sounds more like that sort of thing that would happen to Rosco . I hope he gets well soon. Maybe you can ask him to stop by at HazzardNet while he's recovering.
  7. Welcome to HazzardNet :).

  8. Thanks Alex. The original Boar's Nest is at that address in Georgia. You can check it out on Google Maps. Last time I checked, it was a church - there's a fairly recent picture below. I really chose to concentrate this thread on the California filming locations because HazzardNet member Wekke already has a great webpage about the Georgia locations used in the first five episodes. It includes 'then and now' pictures from his visit there. Unfortunately the page seems to be down at the moment (it was working last week) - I will post a link if it becomes available again. I can post Google Maps links to a few of the other Georgia locations if anyone wants them.
  9. Welcome to HazzardNet :).

  10. You have a lot of work ahead of you, but you're making amazing progress already. They did something similar on the first season of 'Street Customs' ('Custom My Ride' in the UK) when they fitted a '68 Charger body to a new Charger chassis for actor Gary Dourdan (see below). It was a nice idea, but I can't say I share his taste in cars. If it were mine I'd change the wheels and the color. It also had the interior from the new car which just looked wrong. It looks like you're going down the path I'd choose if I had the money and skill to attempt a project like this. That 2008 floorpan looks a bit more solid than the 1969 one . Keep up the good work.
  11. Don't know what was up with nascar.com tonight. I went off during the final rain caution and checked to see if I'd missed anything when I returned. The mini lap-by-lap ticker on the leaderboard page said that the checkered flag had come down at lap 200, shortly after Danica Patrick hit the wall. Was this accidentally copied from a Nationwide race or something?. The leaderboard also had Carl Edwards a point behind at the end instead of level. I'm sure it wasn't the result everyone wanted (although I think TRPColtrane will be happy), but I enjoyed the closing laps.
  12. I knew this one, and Brian beat me to it. The flowers sure did get passed around a lot, but it was Cooter's birthday.
  13. I had to Brian, and I have to say, I'm disappointed. Where's the funny wordplay title that used to go along with these parodies (e.g. Forrest Hump, Everybody Does Raymond, The Pourne Identity, Missionary Impossible, American Booty etc.). Surely they could've thought of another five-letter word beginning with 'D' and ending with 'S' to substitute in the title instead of just adding "a hardcore parody". On the positive side, the casting doesn't look any worse than the 2005 movie . When are we starting this new thread Mufn?.
  14. Saw it at the cinema with a friend of mine who's also a big fan of the original movie. It's not a great movie, but worth seeing for the musician cameos (someone needs to give Eric Clapton some acting lessons - just in case the music thing doesn't work out ), and the obligatory multi-vehicle pile-up (skip to 2:40 for the Blues Brothers 2000 crashes) that made the 2000 Guinness Book of World Records for having the most car crashes in a motion picture. What else can I say except "They broke my watch" .
  15. From the trailer this looks just as bad as the original, making it a must-see movie . Jennifer Lyons is also in "Return of the Killer Shrews". She was in the Reunion movie as Tammy:
  16. At least everyone spelt it correctly, unlike this recent post on FailBook (that's not our Brian is it?): If I visit the US, should I borrow the line supposedly said by Oscar Wilde at Customs Control in New York in 1882?: "I have nothing to declare but my genius." Joking aside, thanks for the comments. You've probably read the thread about the demolition of the original Duke Farm in GA earlier this year (I know Roger bought a few pieces). For the California shows there were at least three or four different locations used as they moved between ranches. The Boar's Nest also moved around a similar amount.
  17. In case you're having trouble naming some of the musicians in the video: The Louisiana Gator Boys was an all-star band for the battle of the bands scene of the Blues Brothers 2000 movie. The members are: B.B. King (Vocals, Guitar), Eric Clapton (Vocals, Guitar), Bo Diddley (Vocals, Guitar), Travis Tritt (Vocals, Guitar), Jimmie Vaughan (Vocals, Guitar), Gary U.S. Bonds (Vocals), Isaac Hayes (Vocals), Tommy McDonnell (Vocals), Lou Rawls (Vocals), Koko Taylor (Vocals), Clarence Clemons (Vocals, Tenor Saxophone, Tambourine), Dr. John (Vocals, Piano), Charlie Musselwhite (Vocals, Harmonica), Billy Preston (Vocals, Synthesizer), Steve Winwood (Vocals, Organ), Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (Guitar), Jack DeJohnette (Drums), John Faddis (Trumpet), Joshua Redman (Tenor Saxophone), Grover Washington Jr. (Baritone Saxophone), Willie Weeks (Bass).
  18. Just to follow up my comment about the license plate typefaces, here's a picture of a couple of the plates from the show. The first is from inside Cooter's door. I've placed it next to a genuine Louisiana 'Pelican' plate. The '5' is obviously different, and the '6' and '9' are slightly different as well. Additionally, the word 'Louisiana' slopes slightly upwards and the holes are in different places. The Georgia plates (above and below) also seems to have been made for the show. The nearest real plate I can find is one from 1969, but that has '19' and '69' at either end of 'Peach State'. The real text is white not gold, and again the typeface differs slightly from the genuine plate (the plate below is from the wall of the Boar's Nest, but is the same as the one outside Cooter's apart from the number). Old license plates are freely available at fairly cheap prices, so is there a legal reason why they created prop plates, or is this just the normal way they do it for TV shows/movies?.
  19. There have been many covers of this song, but I'm going with the 1961 doo-wop version: Listening to this reminded me of Moonlighting and the Blue Moon Detective Agency, so here's .
  20. Thanks for the links Mufn, and to roy for finding them. The episode wasn't available when I looked earlier this year. I think my favorite Boss line is "You're sharp ain't ya. I like that in a woman, but I prefer it in a steak knife." .
  21. Since when did Bo and Luke use turn signals .
  22. Hi Sissy, if you're asking about the lines below your user name at the top of each post, you can find the answer here.
  23. I thought that reflecting on this question for a while might help me remember, but it didn't. Roger said "country singer", so I'll rule out The Charlie Daniels Band and The Bellamy Brothers. Amongst the others it's going to be a complete guess. I'll go for C) Dolly Parton who wasn't in the show (although her sister Stella was in 'Deputy Dukes').
  24. Let me quote you instead . Great spot Brian, that is definitely Hazzard Square (Midwest Street). It only appears for a second or two so I've merged two grabs together to show the full width. You have the bank on the left through to the theater on the right:
  25. Mufn, I thought you might post this one, but can understand you going Country .
