Here’s the shot of the “Hazzard County Fair Grounds†(“Fair Grounds†appears as two words on the sign) that CDoherty mentioned. I have to agree that the building in the background is about the size of the Boar’s Nest, and the back of the Boar’s Nest does get used in later episodes (pictures to come), but I can’t match the landscape to the location. Even back on a 1980 aerial view the area behind the Boar’s Nest was grassy and quite small. On this picture you can see a row of telegraph poles with distinctive street lights running down the side of the fairgrounds. I haven’t seen these anywhere on the ranch. I think there might be a railroad track on the other side of the fence; there’s definitely a road or track because a car and someone on a bicycle can be seen traveling past at various points. If there is a railroad it may be part of the Filmore-Saugus line that was slowly abandoned after the Santa Clara River trestle was washed out during a flood in 1976. I’ve been tracing its route on old maps and it’s easy to forget that Santa Clarita didn’t exist until 1987; before that it was Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus and Valencia, and mostly open farmland. In the background of this picturel you can see some dark cylindrical structures on the hill. I don't remember seeing them in other episodes, and haven't found them on any aerial maps. Looking in this direction you can see one of the ubiquitous water towers above Jesse's head. I wondered if it might have been a real showground, but found nothing on Google. I think, at least for now, this location will remain “unknown†unless anyone can persuade me otherwise.

I meant to post these pictures from 'The Rustlers' a couple of weeks ago, but got sidetracked with the New York Street sidewalk discussion. This is Burl Tolliver's farmhouse on Disney's Golden Oaks Ranch. Although it's no longer there, you can work out its position from the covered bridge in the background. I'm pretty sure that this field where the General speed-checked Manassas is right by Burl's farmhouse. Now to address CDoherty's suggestion that the fairgrounds were behind the Boar's Nest. Initially I went along with the idea, but now I'm not so sure. I'll let y'all decide in the next post. For now, here's a shot from near the end of the episode which shows the bad guys being apprehended by the barn that's definitely on the Golden Oaks Ranch (see a few posts back). The Boar's Nest would've been just to the right of this picture.

It's virtually the same as the Ertl Authentics one that came out a couple of years ago (they're using the same die-cast molds). I think they've just tweaked the decals and the wheels and made the CB aerial longer. If you have one of the older models then this is a great improvement. There's a huge amount of details including seatbelts and opening headlights. I was going to get one, but decided it wasn't sufficiently different to my Authentics one to make it worthwhile. If only they'd bring out a '77/'78 Plymouth Fury or Dodge Monaco with the correct AeroDynic lightbar. I've never been tempted to buy the inaccurate model they pass off as a Hazzard Sheriff's car. I'm sure they could use the same mold for plenty of other police liveries.

Welcome to HNet, Dixie. It's good to know that Dukes is still attracting new fans. You're probably one of the younger members here, but there are several who are only a couple of years older. I was just looking at your pictures from Cooter's - do you have any more?

Are we supposed to be looking at the reflection in the picture above? Here's a couple I found in season 3. In the first part of 'Carnival of Thrills' I'm sure the trunk on the 'Leap for Life' car was meant to come off when it exploded, but it comes loose as the car goes up the ramp. At the end of 'Along Came a Duke' the car chase passes through the sports field of Hazzard High School. The patrol car gets hit by a javelin, but there's a covered hole visible on the hood before impact (it shows up as an indent on the left picture). After the javelin hits it mysteriously changes color from white to mainly orange. The hole also increases greatly in size. I guess the steam-rushing-out effect wouldn't work with the original hole.

I was hoping you'd give us another update. It's certainly looking a lot more finished now. I like the way you have Bo and Luke jumping into the General. What else do you plan to add? I hope there will be somewhere for the Hazzard mechanic .

This video from BBC show 'Top of the Pops' shows band member Jeffrey Daniel premiering a move we now as the Moonwalk. This was about a year before Michael Jackson performed his first one. Daniel went on to work as a choreographer for Jackson.

Welcome to HNet. I've seen videos of similar RC cars drifting, and the skills of the "drivers" are unbelievable. They're a long way from the RC cars I dabbled with in the mid to late '80s - anyone remember Tamiya's 'Sand Scorcher' and 'Holiday Buggy'?

This song reached #3 in the UK charts back in 1991. I'm not sure how well it did outside Europe. The video above describes the song as "one of the most beautiful songs ever", so I was surprised to find that a "chipmunked" version had been sampled into a track called 'Second Chance' by The Game feat. Eminem.

I had no luck looking on Ebay, but from your description I'm assuming it's like the one below. This is a slightly scratched example which had a price of $5 next to, so you can probably leave it with your little brother for the time being .

Seeing as The Patrol Cars In Pictures thread has grown to accommodate security and government cars I thought I'd include some here. To do this I needed a new vehicle template, namely an AMC Matador. It's not quite as detailed as the Furys, and I've only done the side view because there's nothing of note anywhere else. They are also from different years, so I'd have to do three different front and rear ends, whereas the side stays virtually the same. The last one should actually be an Ambassador, but scarcity of good photos, coupled with the fact it only appeared for a few seconds deterred me from doing a separate outline. The cars are: 1971 AMC Matador Tri-Counties Bonding Company car from 'Money to Burn'. 1972 AMC Matador US Marshall [sic] car from 'Along Came a Duke'. 1973 AMC Ambassador State Revenue Service car from 'Sadie Hogg Day'. I've also included larger versions of the doors to show the logos better. The last comes complete with badly repainted sections just as it appeared in the show . I didn't include the 1972 Matador belonging to Colonial City (from 'The Hack of Hazzard') because I couldn't get a good enough view of the logo to reproduce it.

Under this week's 'Jump Day' picture on the Facebook page there was a comment about ET, so I thought I'd give it a go.

I think BL is right about 'The Hazzardgate Tape'. He also played Burl Tolliver in 'The Rustlers'.

The same DVD extra also discusses the '68 Mustang and Charger used in Bullitt. Steve McQueen got the Mustang because the Charger had more of a "bad-boy" image. In reality the Charger was much faster and had to be held back to make it look like a fair fight.

I'm surprised too, because nowadays it's likely to be available online almost immediately, even if the sources aren't always official. I think it will be shown pretty soon in Ireland, but Channel 5 in the UK have only just started a new season of 'Big Brother', so that will probably go on all summer. Dallas certainly was popular over here. Although Dallas and Dukes were both originally shown on BBC1 in the UK, they were shown on different nights. Even years later you could still see references in other shows. Here's Irish comic/actor Pat Shortt in the first episode of the great British/Irish comedy 'Father Ted'. This originally aired 15 years after Dallas season 3 cliffhanger. There was also a British show in 2007 called 'Bring Back... Dallas'. Presenter Justin Lee Collins flew to the USA to try to organize a reunion of the original cast members. He also did similar shows for 'Star Wars', 'Star Trek', 'Fame' and 'The A-Team'.

I don't know if the Trans Am was considered, but one of its cousins was. On the DVD extra 'General Lee: The Legendary Charger' there's a discussion between Tom Sarmento, lead mechanic on Dukes, and Wayne Wooten, founder of the Dodge Charger Registry. They mention that "At one time, the Camaro was considered for a little bit because of availability.", but they decided against it "... because it never raced in NASCAR and it had never actually been used as a NASCAR vehicle." After explaining why Mopars have much better suspension than Camaros for stunt work they also say "... they could have chosen a Ford Torino but they would have had the same problem with the springs.

We'll have to wait for the new series over here. TV3 managed to secure the rights to show it in Ireland, and have said it will be part of their Sunday night schedule. I checked the listings and it's not in there this week. In the UK it will be shown by Channel 5, but apparently not until September. If you have satellite you can still watch episodes of the original series on CBS Drama.

There's a thread about Coy and Vance in the 'Other Actors/The Townsfolk' section of 'Cast/Characters'. It starts with a "which do you like best?" question, but broadens out to a more general debate toward the end: Coy and Vance It's a shame they didn't make a return at some point before the series ended, or for the Reunion movie.

I don't know about the cut fenders, but I think I've spotted a safety issue. I spent ages trying to find something under the hood before I realized there's a wheel nut missing. It's hardly surprising you missed it, it would take ages just to read through that one thread, and it isn't the first place you'd think to look. I'm sure we've all done it, and no one will jump down your throat over it.
