Smooth - Santana feat. Rob Thomas
  2. Great bit of rock Brian \m/(>.<)\m/ And now (as Monty Python would say), something completely different. A very English comedy song from the 1964 album 'At the Drop of Another Hat', portrayed here in Lego. Does anyone fancy doing songs with 'man' in the title for a bit?.
  3. A bit of English folk from 1987 for y'all. I could only find recent live versions of this on YouTube, and this was the best. I saw them live twice in the early '90s - glad to see they're still going.

    NASCAR news

Thanks for passing on the news Garrett. I've been watching various other motorsport this weekend, and didn't get a chance to see the race. It looks like a horrendous accident, and it's lucky more weren't badly hurt. Here is USA Today's article on the accident. Motorsport, and open-wheeled racing in particluar, has become so safe these days that this kind of news comes as such a great shock. Let's remember Dan's 2nd time of winning the Indy 500 earlier this year: RIP. Daniel Clive "Dan" Wheldon (22 June 1978 – 16 October 2011)
  5. I tried to get in before lost_sheep, but never mind ... It's all here: red double-decker buses; red phone boxes; Punch and Judy; brass bands; Union Jack shorts. It looks like this video's director has been doing an English version of the The Cliche Challenge! . Thank you .
  6. Or if you'd prefer, the live jazz version by the Ramsey Lewis Trio which also came out in 1965. According to Wikipedia: Murphy's four albums produced a total of thirteen singles on the country charts, including the Number One hit "Dust on the Bottle" from 1995 and four more Top Ten hits. Although he has not recorded since 2004, Murphy has co-written several singles for other artists, including the Number One hits "Living in Fast Forward" for Kenny Chesney and "Big Green Tractor" for Jason Aldean. I know that both the Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean songs have been posted in this thread.
  7. This is fantastic - I can't wait to see how the build progresses. What software package did you use to create this?. Also, well done for identifying the gas pumps. I knew they were Tokheim, but not the model. I have vectorized artwork for the Hoggoco and Tokheim logos if they are any use for your model.
  8. Nice to hear the original again - I'm more familiar with the Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin version from 1981 (it's not the same Dave Stewart that was in the Eurythmics).
  9. I Hung My Head - Johnny Cash I can't find a video for this either. As usual Johnny Cash does a song better than the original, in this case by Sting. It's there if you know where to look . The video features Martin Sheen and his son, Ramon Estevez: It's All In Your Head - Diamond Rio (Official Video)
  10. Push bars are usually available on ebay, although there were none for sale when I checked last week. I've just checked again and there's now two for sale; a kit for $349 and an assembled, but unpainted one for $399. These are more expensive than the second link posted by MaryAnne (I couldn't find a price for the first), but both are meant to be replica General Lee push bars rather than generic ones. The link below is an ebay search for 'general lee push bar', so the results will change over time: ebay search for 'general lee push bar' There is a link on the page for the assembled version that goes to the company's own website (Smith Bros. Restorations) where the push bar (narrow version) is available $100 cheaper ie. $299 incl. shipping to the lower 48. If you search around you can also find the wide push bar on their site for $399.99: Smith Bros. narrow push bar Smith Bros. wide push bar There's a few other parts that may interest you on their General Lee page, including a roll bar and seat covers: General Lee parts
  11. These three bloopers all fall into the category of visible equipment, ie. equipment that should be out of sight. In 'Gold Fever' this car flips during the chase scene with Dr. Homer Willis's RV. The explosion blows away the foliage that was covering the pipe ramp, leaving it exposed. In 'Duke vs. Duke' Flash raises her ears when Rosco tries to jump to victory at the end of the race. It doesn't come out too well in this screengrab, but if you watch the scene you can clearly see that there's a thin black wire pulling the ears up (I've arrowed the visible one on the left ear). In 'Ding, Dong, the Boss Is Dead' the Dukes have to stop Boss's runaway coffin. The coffin then sails through the air and ends up in a tree/bush. In the long shot there is no tree/bush anywhere near the spot where the General blocks the coffin's path. Additionally, the coffin follows an arced trajectory due to the fact that it's swinging on a very obvious cable.

I've posted the full video, but the song (as it appeared on the album) doesn't start until about 50 seconds in. The guest vocalist, and disembodied head in the video, is Shaun Ryder from the Happy Mondays. I've read in a couple of places that the song was going to called 'It's There', but Shaun's strong Manchester accent made it sound like 'It's Dare' so they changed the name. To keep in with the Japanese theme, the single was titled '挑戦 (Dare)'.
  14. Slightly unusual, mainly spoken track from Damon Albarn's other band. I've had this CD for several years, but until I looked up the video I never realised that the narrator was Dennis Hopper.

  16. Here's a couple of screengrabs to illustrate CD's point. Firstly, this is Floyd and Bubba's Blue Nova: And here's the parked car (on the left), looking suspiciously similar, and seen just a few seconds after they were meant to have driven off. Just to add another blooper from the same scene, the back projection used as Bo and Luke pull up to protect Boss clearly shows 'Seth M. Berley & Co.', which got replaced in season 5.

    Signs of Hazzard

The Boar's Nest sign is already done (back on page 1 of this thread), but I can have a look at the others. Either let me know the episodes and rough times they appear, or send me some screengrabs and I'll see what I can do. Let's hope that this sign proves less controversial than the last . It's the sign from the studio that the Dukes visit in 'The Dukes in Hollywood' in season 7. I thought I might get a break here because the 'Studios' text looks like a font called Souvenir, but it wasn't to be.

lost_sheep posted 'Life in a Northern Town' over on the Musical Chairs thread yesterday. That reminded me of the following dance track from 1997 that samples of that song by Dream Academy.Sunchyme - Dario G I found a video for this song on another website.
  19. I can't believe that we've never had any Kenny Rogers in this thread. Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town - Kenny Rogers & The First Edition This time I was lucky, and found the too . I didn't realise that anyone had covered Dream Academy's 1985 hit. Their was filmed in and around Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire (a northern town in England). Thanks for posting the new version.

Headstrong - 10,000 Maniacs I think I bought this album the day it came out, way back in 1989.
  21. I didn't get a chance to post this when we did 'last night' songs last week. From the album 'Whatever and Ever Amen', this track is about throwing a leaving party for a guy who never leaves.
  22. Ghost Town - The Specials A 30-year-old hit from the British 2 Tone ska band. It reached #1 in the UK charts in the summer of '81.

Not part of my usual record collection, but while we're doing the '80s. I only remembered it because it was used twice in the background of the episode of 'The Fall Guy' ('Win One for the Gipper???' from season 2) that I watched yesterday.
