You guys might have me on that but I'm still not convinced. I'm going to double check but I thought that in "Hijack" just the Marines were mentioned and not necessarily Vietnam. I don't remember the war being mentioned in "Follow that Still" but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. I do remember the line "Marines and moonshiners have a lot in common. Well, I guess it depends on how you look at it. If someone was expecting it to be like Dukes then they probably didn't like it since it was a totally different type of show. It was based in Los Angeles and Enos was a cop there for a year and used his country boy common sense and innocence to help solve big city crimes. He had a partner and boss that he drove crazy because they had never really met a redneck like him. Of course, Enos always caught the bad guy. As Waylon said "In Hazzard, we like happy endings." I guess the writers applied that to LA also. The only real similarities to Dukes and this spinoff show was Enos (of course) and the great car stunts so some people weren't crazy about it but most dedicated Dukes fans loved having another show related to the original. We missed Enos chasing them Duke boys and flirting with Daisy though. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.

I met him on October 23, 1982 at a car show in Pennsylvania. There were two celebrities at that show. The other was a playboy playmate. Ben Jones' line was real long and it took an hour to get through it. The other "celebrity" didn't have a line at all!!! It was Cooter's (first?) wife's 30th birthday that day. He was awesome and, like you said, acted like a regular guy and not a celebrity....a typical southern gentleman good 'ole boy from Hazzard County. He might be crazy but he ain't dumb. I'm gone.

Please don't hate me. The Dukes are way down there in Dixie and I'm up north in Pennsylvania. I hope I don't get anybody mad with this suggestion. Has anybody thought of more than one Dukes Fest? I'm not proposing that us northern Dukes should have something as big as the real Dukes Fest. I'm not suggesting they be in competition or anything like that. I'm just wondering if a bunch of good 'ole boys (and girls) who live a long way from Dixie could get together someplace in this neck of the woods. In my heart, I've lived in Hazzard County since episode number one. It sure would be nice to meet other good folks who live there too without having to drive so far. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.

I've been wondering that myself. I hope you get a response but I bet they'd be hard to find. I'd sure like to get some episodes of the series "Enos" but it looks like those are tough to get too. Good luck.

I just watched Granny Annie on DVD (It's on CMT next week). Enos was awesome the way he befriended Annie when she went to prison. The part where he dances with her is classic Enos. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.

Okay, I said this on another thread and I'll post it here too...concerning these new Dukes. WWJD? What would (Uncle) Jesse do? That's easy. He's turn off these new Dukes (They don't even deserve to be called Dukes) and put in a DVD of his real kinfolk. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.

Yea, they really slice them up to fit those extra commercials in. I guess that CMT has more commercials than CBS did in the late 70s, and 80s. The funny thing is that cable wasn't originally designed to have any commercials at all...you were supposed to be paying for the convience of not having to put up with them. Possum on a gumbush. Hey, I was in the Marines and I like to hug. Since the show never made any mention of Luke being a Vietnam vet (I doubt his character was old enough), I don't think the Marines changes you that much in peacetime. I agree that the writers stuck with consistency in the characters and since Bo is a younger, more outgoing and more huggable redneck that's what they went with...at least that's what I want to believe. I too worry about CMT pulling Dukes someday. I notice they have been pulling them a lot to replace them with stupid stuff but let's hope this isn't a warning that they're cooling off. Even though I have all seven years of DVDs, I'd rather put up with the comercials and watch them on CMT because I know that my Duke cousins are all out there watching the same episode at the same time. Here's a tough ethical question for you. On September 18, 1993 Tom Wopat came to my small northwestern Pennsylvania town to give a concert at our fair. Of course I met him afterward and got a couple autographs, pictures etc. Before the concert, he pulled up to the stage by himself driving a Chevy Suburban type vehicle (I'm not exactly sure what it was). After the concert, I was pulling out of the gas station and (you guessed it), he came driving by all by himself in that same vehicle. Since I was going the other way I just said to myself "Wow, that was cool seeing him one last time" and continued on my way. Half way home I realized, I should have followed him and passed him just to exaggerate and say I beat Luke Duke in a race. I just blew a chance of a lifetime. My question is this..what should I have done if he would have started racing when I passed him? The easy answer is to say "race" but then there's the possibility of the unthinkable happening (no, not me losing)..Tom getting hurt or worse. Welcome to the Hazzardnet SulphurOxide. I'm pretty new myself even though I've been a fans of the Dukes since they first came out. If you really love Hazzard County, this is the place to be. The folks here are full of southern hospitality.

Hey GADuke01.....great quote "Oh how I long for the mere awfullness of the first film in comparison with this" It's pretty clear that the writers of these new Dukes adventures (I hate to call it Dukes) are not fans of the real show. Well..maybe they're casual fans but they certainly don't understand what Uncle Jesse and his family stood for. They're clearly not fans to the extent that they want what is best for the reputation of Hazzard County and it's residents.....people like us who know that Hazzard is not a fantasy, it's a way of life. Obviously they both have character traits that make them both lovable. Back in the days of the original series I liked Enos more because he was so pure and simplistic. I have high morals like Enos but I'm complicated so I was always drawn to his refreshing simplistic personality. And of course, when he got his own series he showed everybody how smart he really was. Rosco... now how can anybody not love him? I just can't decide. I guess I'll pick Enos since he was my favorite in the old days. (Uncle Jesse is my favorite now that I'm getting older) Questions like that are tough. It's like asking what do you like more, ice cream or pizza? I'm almost 47 and fell in love with Hazzard County at 19 when it first came out so I've lived a lot more than you but that only means so much. No matter how people try to be open-minded, the truth is that nobody completely succeeds. Although there are many exceptions, younger people do have a tendency to be more open minded. You certainly taught this middle aged redneck something with that post so keep up the good work. Speaking of being closed minded, I used to think computers were bad. Now that I've recently learned to use one of these contraptions, I have found at least one good use for them. By the way, I live in the woods of northwestern Pennsylvania. The only thing in life more important to me than Dukes is God and family. Now that I've found a home on the Hazzardnet, you'll be hearing a lot from me. Roger I'm gone.
