    After rereading the last post that I wrote yesterday it might not have been a good idea to write "Many of them have little appreciation for those roots." After further consideration I realize they probably do have an appreciation for those roots. What I should have said is that they don't have a connection to those roots. I talked to a second knowledgable NASCAR person today about this subject and he agreed that all the big name new drivers aren't rooted in the origins of the southern race culture. All this being considered, I have decided to start being a Dale Jr fan. I apologize for being wishy washy on this subject but since I can't find a driver with a Dukes connection, I guess I should be a fan of the person who is the most like the Dukes, and that appears to be Dale. When I tried to follow NASCAR several years ago I picked Jimmie Johnson as my favorite. Later that year he won his first championship and then went on to win 5 more. So, maybe now that I'm a Dale fan he'll win at Daytona. In fact I'm predicting he'll win and break his long streak of not coming in first place. Just for fun, I'm predicting JJ will finish second.

    Hey Garrett (or anybody else who wants to chime in) I was having a discussion with my NASCAR friend earlier this week and the subject came up about how I struggle to find a driver to really get excited about. If only someone would get an orange 01 car, or even any colored 01 car, I would probably become a bigger more entusiastic fan. Being the biggest and most knowledgable Dale Jr fan I know, he pointed something out I never considered. Dale has southern boy roots just like the Duke boys and fewer and fewer of these guys do. Back in the early days of NASCAR almost all the top drivers were rednecks like me. (although being from northern Pennsylvania I'm not exactly southern). Now, most of the drivers have no ties with NASCAR's redneck roots and many of them have little appreciation for those roots. All this made me think. Maybe I should become a Dale Jr fan. Can you think of anybody else who represents the southern origin of NASCAR better than Dale. For that matter, how many real rednecks are even racing in NASCAR anymore?

    Woops! The stunt show at Yankee Lake has been cancelled. By the time I got off the phone to Ray Kohn it was too late to edit my last post. The show was cancelled for several reasons but there will be at least two more this year. One will be in Valparaiso Indiana on the last week of July. There will also be one near Cleveland Ohio on August 20. I'll post more about those later. Sorry about the mistake.

    Ray Kohn is up to it again. He has a show scheduled for Friday July 1st near Youngstown Ohio. These shows are truly great spectacles put on by a team of folks who love the Dukes of Hazzard. If anybody here gets a chance to make it to the show, stop by the area where the cars are staged and introduce yourself. Google Yankee Lake Truck Night for more information.     Well, Harem Nights wasn't really a guess since it was tucked away in the back of my head and located after I removed the cobwebs. I am completely guessing with this one. I'll say Sleepy City Saloon.

    Thanks for the update Garrett. (And for the good news). I had to work overtime again so I missed everything. In fact, your post is the first results I've seen. Luckily I don't have to work any more weekends for a couple more months. Hmmm, I didn't see Dale mentioned in your review.

    That's a toughie. At first I was going to say Harem Heaven but I think I remember it having nights in the name. I'm guessing Harem Nights. If I'm wrong I bet it's something like that.

    It sounds like you're going to be busy. I'm going to be going to New York City sometime this summer. I've only ever been there once. I'm also going to be taking my 9 year old grandson to his first Pirate game in Pittsburgh. I'll be going to at least two Dukes of Hazzard stunt shows too. And...we just went to northern Virginia to visit our daughter and her family for my other grandson's second birthday. Have fun Garrett!!!

    Thanks for the update Garrett. I had to work. My NASCAR friend that I always talk about had to work too so he wasn't too happy about missing the race. On Friday he said he had a real strong feeling that Dale Jr was finally going to win one, so needless to say, he was pretty disappointed when he got home and found out about the wreck.

    Wow, I'd sure love to meet him. I've always wanted to thank him for creating Dukes. Does anybody know how to contact him? I suppose I could google it but that sometimes has limited success when trying to contact somebody. Most of the time when I think of the Dukes of Hazzard I forget to give him the credit he deserves since I'm so wrapped up in the fantasy of the show and its characters. Uncle Jesse might be my hero but Gy Waldron is worthy of that status as well.

    Flash is on there and it says "Bigger and better than ever" so we know it's not something to promote the opening of the series. What it that thing below Cooter? Is that Warner Brothers trademark W?

    I got my first car about the same time the Dukes were building the General Lee but gas was so cheap back then nobody ever paid attention to the price. By the way, it was a blue 1975 Mustang II that I took over payments for when my brother went into the Marines. When the Dukes came out I put a confederate flag front license plate on it to honor my favorite show. I'm going to guess D) 39.9
