  1. That would be cool to have another track in Canada. And with Gordon's experience, I bet it will be a good one. I know that Gordon does many different things for people. He has a foundation right? I think my friend bought one of his bracelets so that the money would go to the foundation.

By the way, sorry for all of the short posts. It won't let me post anything over 1000 words. And I had a whole lot more than 1000 words written.

  2. I have no idea what is up with my Edwards. He just can't seem to get up front. I guess 11th isn't as bad as it could have been, but it's not great either. Martin is doing really well though, so I guess I have that to smile about. Maybe this weekend Carl can gain some points though and climb out of 11th place.

I'm ready for Kansas now. I like this track, but that's probably because I have been there before. I got to see Martin win in '05 I think it was. You might get to see Gordon win this track, being a multiple winner and having such good runs the last few weeks puts him up there. I think Jimmie Johnson won on this track last year. I will have to check that sometime, but I think that is right. Anyway, it should be a good race and I'm looking forward to it. I hope that this time I can watch the whole race and not bits and pieces. That is getting frustrating.

  3. Finally, I made it back... lol I've been trying to respond to your messages for a few days now, but for some reason I couldn't get on profile pages. I could view the Forums without any problems. Isn't that crazy?

When I saw Joey Logano slide back up the track in his wreck I had DejaVu. It slightly reminded me of Carl's wreck at Talladega this spring. Thankfully he didn't hit the fence airborne, but those rolls couldn't be fun either. I heard the announcers say he flipped 7 times, yikes. My cousin told me the announcers were wrong though. He said he counted each time the car landed on its roof and it was more like 20 something. I have no idea, I thought about rewatching it just to see who was right but never got around to it yet. Still I was holding my breath waiting for Joey to exit the car. That was nerve racking. And then seeing his dad run like that. Scary. I'm so glad he's okay though. Thank goodness for safety precautions.

  4. I Will Always Love You ~ Dolly Parton (Hope this one hasn't been used yet.)
  5. I see what you mean about the pits. It does seem like they are getting more dangerous. But I'm not sure what can be done about it. Some of these pit lanes are so small that it doesn't look like the car will even fit in the stall. At least now the pit crew has to wear the firesuit and a helmut to go over the wall. The only thing is for drivers and crew alike to be very alert to their surroundings I guess. And sometimes there is so much going on at once and so quickly that I don't know how they manage to enter/exit safely. In my opinion, the pit crew's job is just as dangerous if not more so than the drivers. At least the cars have roll cages and all of the other safety features now whereas the pit crew has a helmut and fire suit. It must take a lot of guts to jump out in front of a moving car so you can change a tire or whatever. Scary. Yes the car is going slower with pit speeds and everything, but steel vs flesh... Steel will win. I know most of these are just accidents, I'm sure the drivers don't want to hurt anyone. But what can be done? Fines? Drive thru penalty? And is it fair to do that if it is an accident, wrong place at the wrong time? Or do they just consider that part of racing? I really just don't know. Or maybe it's the medicene that's talking. lol

  6. Hey Garrett, I'm finally back from Connecticut. Actually I got back Wednesday evening around 7. Unfortunately, it wasn't that great of a trip. I don't know why, but every time I fly on an airplane I get sick. I mean, I know why I get sick, because someone else on the plane is sick. But why don't the people I travel with ever get sick. My boss is fit as a fiddle. I would say its my immune system, but I really don't get sick that often. Grrr. Another reason to hate flying.

Well I finally looked up Carl's finish and he was behind Gordon. He finished 17th. Oh well, it could have been worse... I guess. lol I guess I missed the parts with Tony because I don't remember the announcers mentioning it. Sorry I'm no help in clearing that up.

9 more to go. On to the Monster Mile at Dover. I was just reading an article at Nascar.com that said it looks like this race is going to be between Hendrick and Roush Fenway racers by looking at the statistics. They also threw some other drivers in there too though. Should be interesting. Go Martin and Edwards! And good luck to Gordon too!

Hopefully I can shake off these creeping cruds (that's what I call them anyway, probably just a sinus infection) before Sunday so I can enjoy the race without sleeping thru it.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Wow, what a race! I missed parts of it, but got to see the last 30 laps. I felt so bad for Jr. He was doing so well too. I was happy with the winner. I was afraid after the last caution that Montoya was going to pass him. Honestly I'm not even sure how Carl or anyone else for that matter ended up. I just know that Martin won. How did Gordon come out? I guess I need to check Nascar.com to see. lol

The Toby concert was really good. I loved Trace Adkins too. He opened for Toby. It was crazy though. We didn't get home until 2 am. Then I got up at 7 to take my nephew to a parade. Lots of fun, but I was a tired puppy. lol

Anyway, I'm just taking a quick break from packing and getting ready for my trip. Anyway, I will write more when I get back later this week. Talk to you soon and have a great week!

  8. Just my opinion, but it would not have been the same movie if Hugh Grant had played the part. Patrick Swayze made this movie into the great movie it is.
  9. Hey I never get bored reading your messages. Keep 'em comin'!!! I feel the same way, I love talking about all of this stuff and it never gets boring to me.

I hope you don't mind me quoting things out of the magazine for you. I just found those two items funny and interesting.

Anyway, I'm off to my parents tomorrow night. I'm taking another three day weekend so I can get ready for the Toby concert Friday night. I will be watching the race Sunday and when I get home I will try to get on here and talk with you. I'm not sure what my night will be like though. We leave Monday morning for the airport for our business trip to Connecticut. I've decided against taking my laptop at this point because the hotel doesn't have free wifi. So if I don't get back to you Sunday night I will definitely talk with you later in the week. I hope the rest of your week is good and I am sure I will think of you as the cars zoom around the track once again on Sunday.

  10. Lol.. I wonder how many other people were yelling at Vickers to go, Go, GO! during the race. I bet we weren't the only ones. ;) I don't really have any feelings either way for Vickers, not really. He seems like a good driver and has been doing pretty good this year. I didn't care for it when he ragged on Dale Jr at the Daytona 500 though, blaming Jr for the whole wreck. Just my opinion, but I still think Vickers helped cause the whole thing. But I'm over it and I'm happy he's getting his chance. I haven't been really into Nascar as long as you have I guess because I don't remember Vickers being with Hendrick. For a few years I would only ask my brother or my friend who won. Then I started watching a race every now and then. And then my friend from work took me to my first race. It was at Kansas Speedway and she had an extra ticket that she offered to me for free. Since then I've been hooked. Long story short, I started paying attention to Nascar when Casey Mears was still with Hendricks.

I'm not sure why Roush was able to have five cars either. The only thing I can figure is that since there wasn't a team limit for owners it just depended on if they had the money or could get the backers. I'm really not sure though. Just my theory. It's getting a little confusing to tell you the truth with so many drivers changing teams. I have a hard time at the beginning of the season figuring out who's driving what car. lol Maybe it's just me though. Plus at the beginning of this season, I would catch myself rooting for Tony Stewart because of the Office Depot on his car. Tony is supposed to be Home Depot. I think I've got it down now though, instead of looking for red I have to look for the duck. lol I'll have to study up to be ready for next season again.

Hey, I don't think you're greedy. You know what you like and who you want to win. I respect that. You want Jeff Gordon to win and I don't blame you a bit. I would like to see Carl get his first Championship too. But like I said, Martin has just missed it so many times that I would like to see him finally get his win. He's got the equipment this season so maybe he can do it. I'm not counting anybody out at this point though. Who knows what we will see through the next few races. :-o:popcorn:

I don't watch any other type of sports, so at least you have baseball too. Most people around here are big Cardinal fans. I went to one game once. It was the Kansas City Royals and I don't even remember who they were playing. It was fun, but it wasn't a race. lol I guess the only thing we have to look forward to is Christmas. ;) Seriously though, that's why I ordered my magazine. It gave me that connection through the off season and it tried to keep me up to date on all of the changes that were going on. Like I said before though, I still had problems figuring out who was what. I will have to study harder this time. lol

  11. I just saw this. How sad. Patrick was a wonderful actor. Two of his movies tie as my favorite. I loved Dirty Dancing, but I also loved Red Dawn. The part with the first kill when... shoot Darrell I think? I guess I need to rewatch this movie... shot his first deer was kind of gruesome for me but moving at the same time. Yep I really need to rewatch this movie. Thanks Patrick for all of the great movies and I hope you Rest in Peace. God Bless.
  12. I guess I did write a novel after all. Sorry! But I'm just like you, once you get me started I have a hard time stopping!

  13. Can you believe it, I had a whole novel written and then my computer decided to shut down for updates. I didn't catch it in time. Grrr. That makes me so mad. Anyway, here I go again.

I did get to see the race Saturday night after all. I decided not to go to the tractor pull, I just couldn't miss the race. It was too exciting and I just had to know who would be in the Chase. I'm glad Hamlin finally won on his home track. He has wanted to win there for so long and his dream finally came true. He was having fun with it too. I heard him say how much fun he was having racing your Jeff. Hopefully Jeff was having as much fun with them passing each other. I really think their cars were pretty evenly matched and if Jeff had not gotten knocked back several spots, it really would have been an exciting finish for them. Not that it wasn't an exciting finish by any means. I kept yelling for Vickers to GO GO GO!!! lol And he did. I know its bad of me to say, but I was happy Vickers beat Kyle out of that last spot in the Chase. And I have to say, I was slightly impressed with Kyle's after race interview. He didn't whine or complain at all. Maybe he is showing a little bit of maturity after all. I agree with you, he is a talented driver. He just needs to adjust his attitude. I've heard that Kurt Busch used to act the same way, but he has apparently matured. Maybe his brother is following in his footsteps? We can only hope. lol

I had a rough time though, besides yelling for Vickers I was very concerned with Carl's progress. He started losing a lot of points there for a while that I was getting worried he wouldn't make the Chase. He pulled back in the end though. I just hope the last few weeks aren't how the next ten races are going to go for him. No wins yet this year, but maybe he's trying Jimmie's stratagy. Lie low till the Chase, then come out with the gas pedal floored. lol I guess we will see.

I was happy with everyone who made the Chase this time. I think it should be a pretty good next ten races. Jeff had a good night too and I just knew you were loving it. I am really happy with Martin making it. I know Carl is my driver and I will always cheer for him to win, but I would like to see Martin win a Championship before he retires... again. lol He's been so close so many times that it is just sad he's never won. He's got a good head of steam built up too, with four wins under his belt and a lot of good finishes besides. Otherwise it should be good and exciting with Jeff and Jimmie, Carl and Mark, and Tony. I can't wait til the next race. It's kind of sad though. Now that the Chase is here I know that the season is winding down. What am I going to do on Sunday afternoons now? lol

I think I read the same article that you did about Kyle Busch. I don't agree with the author. I think the Chase will be just as exciting without him. And we all know that Kyle is still going to race to win each race. He won't let not being in the Championship stop him from trying to win each and every one. That's what Tony did a few years ago. He missed the Chase, but went on to win the most in the the last ten races. I guess we will see what he has to say about it all from week to week. Maybe he will gain some experience from the whole situation too. I also saw the article about Kurt Busch's crew chief. I didn't read the article, but that really has to be distracting for Kurt. Hopefully it doesn't interfere with the rest of his season.

I also read another article that was interesting to me. It said that Richard Petty Motorsports are merging with Yates I think it was. Apparently they are going with Ford since Dodge hasn't been able to offer them the support they have in the past with the economy the way it is. They made a point about how the whole thing is going to work with Yates already partnered with Roush Fenway's engine shop I think it is. They aren't sure how involved Roush is going to be with this merger. I don't think Roush will have much of a say though. But I dont' know. If I have something wrong here please correct me. But I guess they are going to have a four car team also. It didn't say who there drivers will be, so I don't know if the teams will bring in their current drivers or what. I'm going to assume so though. I thought maybe since Roush has to get rid of one of his team's to get down to four for next year, that the fifth driver might go to Yates. Probably Jamie Mac. I'm not sure now. I like Jamie Mac too. He's another Missouri boy. They don't have everything worked out yet, so I guess we will hear about it as they figure things out.

I read something funny today from my new Nascar Illustrated magazine. How bad I'm I addicted to actually get a magazine. lol Anyway it was a really small blurb that made me laugh out loud. It said that Joey Logano asked Mark Martin what his secret to qualifying was since he had gotten so many poles. Here's what it said, "I went up to him and said 'Man, what the heck did you do? after he made his run. Martin said, "I just tried to scare myself every corner." Martin also made a comment about Jimmie Johnson that I thought was pretty cool. "Mark Martin on his 'super' teammate Jimmie Johnson. 'His cape doesn't get tangled around his neck much." That comment was made after Jimmie won the Brickyard again. Pretty neat I thought.

I haven't heard of any of the authors you like, but I will have to try to find some of their books when I get some extra cash... whenever that may be. lol I've read some John Grisham lawyer/mysteries, are they anything like his? The ones I read were pretty good.

Cousin Carl, I love that. I didn't know why he was called that either for a while until I looked it up. I guess Carl is Kenny Schrader's cousin and Kenny made a comment on a broadcast about Cousin Carl. I guess the commentors liked it because it stuck. There was also something about Carl being Larry McReynolds' cousin too, but I'm not sure about that. I knew he was Kenny's cousin, but I had never heard about McReynolds. So it may or may not be true, I don't know for sure.

Anyway, it's past my bedtime now so I'd better be going to bed or I won't want to get up for work tomorrow. I'm still upset I lost my first post. It was a lot longer than this one I think. lol Oh well. Have a great day tomorrow!

  14. Did someone call? lol just kidding What This World Needs is a Few More Rednecks ~ The Charlie Daniels Band
  15. One more day to go! I'm getting excited already. This is it, the deciding race for the top 12. Do you think ol' Kyle will make it or break it? I hope you have a good weekend and I can't wait to talk to you about it all next week.

  16. Hey Elly May! That really sucks that you can't hear his single on the website. Maybe next week I will see if I can find it someplace else. I know you asked me to email you, but I'm getting ready to leave town for the weekend. I just wanted to drop you a line before I head out. Have a great weekend and I'll talk to you next week.

  17. Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On ~ Conway Twitty or Mel McDaniel
  18. Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue ~ Crystal Gayle
  19. Yep, his new album, Haywire, is set to release on November 10th. The first single is "Why Don't We Just Dance." If you go to Josh's official website and in the news section click on the link to Josh's new single. Enjoy! (I know I did!)

  20. Hey Elly May, I've noticed you're a big Josh Turner fan too. Love Josh. I'm waiting very impatiently for his new cd to come out in November. Have you heard his new single from it?

  21. What Kinda Gone ~ Chris Cagle Wow daisydukeXenosstrait, that one just about stumped me. I really had to think hard. I'm sure there are a lot of songs with the word gone in them, but I had a hard time thinking of them.
  22. Happy birthday Tom! Enjoy it and I hope it is the best birthday ever!
  23. This is going to sound cliche, but my nephew really does light up my world. His parents tried for him for about ten years, so he really is our little miracle. He's so happy all of the time that you just can't help but smile along with him. But, I'm not going to bore you with my rattling on about him.

The free detergent is pretty awesome. It saves a lot of money, besides all of the other items that I get for free or very discounted at our company store. My mom doesn't want me to leave my job, though she understands why I want too.

Fourwheelers are fun. I never rode one until my dad bought one several years ago. I had already graduated college when he bought it, so it was something new. I'm not that great at driving it (you have to shift gears and I'm not great at that) but it is fun. My thing is that my hands always seem to go numb from the vibrations through the handlebars. My wrists don't normally hurt, but my thumb does cramp sometimes from giving it gas. :-P

  24. I think a Nascar thread or club would be great. I love hearing other peoples opinions even if they differ from mine. And you never know what you might learn. What do you think, a thread or a club? You have more experience here than I do, so I will leave the decision up to you if that's okay. Richmond this weekend and the deciding of who will be in the chase. I don't think you have to worry too much. It looks like your boys Jeff and Jimmie will definitely be in the chase this year. Hopefully Carl has a better race and holds onto his spot as well as Martin. My dad should be happy that Tony is still on top I guess. I will probably miss this race too because my dad has another tractor pull. I'm going to try and convince my brother to dvr it for me though. I wouldn't go to the pull, but I am our team's official videographer. So my dad and brother really like it when I don't miss one. ;) Watching or not, I will still be thinking (or maybe yelling) GO CARL!
