  1. Yeah, Jimmie does seem to have some pretty good luck on the Chase tracks. I think I've said this before, but it seems that Jimmie stays pretty consistent throught the first part and then the Chase comes and the Jimmie freight train comes blaring out of the station. lol

I have to wonder what's going through Carl's head as Talladega approaches. Hopefully he doesn't pysch himself out with what happened in the spring race there.

  2. Is this weekend Talladega? I'm having trouble keeping up with everything that is going on. I filled out a job application that would take me closer to my family, so I've been trying to deal with that as well as everything else. Life sure does move too fast sometimes. lol

  3. As far as the points system goes, I googled them and printed out the list on what place wins how many points. I'd never done that before, but it was pretty interesting to see. Now I know how they are getting their points when they say during the race that "Gordon just moved up to third in the Chase points." I was going to try to keep track during the race to see for myself, but I wasn't really concentrating that hard at that time. We got our bad news on about the fifth lap or so. Maybe this week I will try to keep track.

  4. I can't believe Carl got a DNF at Lowe's. That really sucked. But he did keep his sense of humor like you said so I guess that was good. Maybe he's just so happy about his news that nothing could bring him down. How cool that he and his wife are going to have a baby. A little girl. I wonder if she will play with Jeff Gordon's little girl when they go to the races? That would be neat.

I thought Gordon was going to get the win again this week. But Kenseth finally found something and was challenging them. Of course Jimmie Johnson had to whomp them all and win the race. I know you like Jimmie, but I hope he doesn't run away with the points again this year. I don't want to wish bad luck on anyone, but it would be good if he could maybe have a little bad luck. That way Gordon and Martin could catch back up. :D

  5. Hey Garrett, the family is slowly getting through this tough time. We are pretty tight knit, so that helps. He was something else and I have a lot of great memories with him. Thank you for your prayers, every prayer helps.

  6. Hey Garrett... I did get to watch the race in bits and pieces at first and then the full last hour. I was a good race and took me away for a while. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for your messages and let you know I will reply to them later in the week. My uncle passed away Saturday evening so I've got a lot going on. I promise to get back to you and our fabulous race discussion just as soon as I can though. I hope you have a great week.

  7. Well I hope you have a great weekend. I am heading to my parents house tonight to help finish up last minute birthday party details. Not to wish bad luck on anybody, but maybe we will see some of my math happen on the track. lol I will be keeping a eye on it all and thinking of you. Have a great one!

  8. Did you hear who the five inaugural people are for the Hall of Fame? They chose Earnhardt (which I really think was a given since he was and is so popular), Richard Petty, Junior Johnson, and Bill France Sr and Jr. I would have liked to see Red Byron make it in this time since he one the first Nascar Championship (I'm pretty sure.) Oh well, I voted online so I guess my voice was heard just not heeded. lol That happens a lot. lol

  9. If Gordon could win Saturday he would get the 185 points for winning a race. That would give him 5808 points. Jimmie Johnson would have to finish in 27th place to earn 82 points giving him a total of 5810. And Mark Martin would have to finish in 23rd place to earn 94 points giving him a total of 5810. In this scenario Martin and Johnson would still be tied for first in the standings, but Gordon would only be two points behind. Plus I didn't include the five bonus points drivers can earn by leading a lap or the five bonus points they can earn by leading the most laps. Montoya could not get better than 9th place to surpass Gordan, and Stewart could not finish better than 3rd. Is your head spinning yet? I know mine is. Carl would have to win several races and Johnson and Martin and others would have to have really bad finishes if Carl were to become competitive with the leaders for the championship.

  10. What I'd like to see Saturday night is a good race that puts the top three or four drivers closer to each other in points. Something to really make things exciting. I'm still pulling for Martin to win the whole shebang, but it would be cool if the championship wasn't just between the top two. So I did a little math (hopefully it's right!). I had to put it into the next post because this one was too long. Imagine that! lol I do ramble on don't I?

  11. I'm not sure what the "official" reasoning is for slowing the cars besides safety concerns. I just bet it's because of Carl's wreck though. It seems they introduce new safety regulations when something tragic happens or almost happens. Thankfully this time it wasn't tragic. It was scary, especially for me because I knew my brother and sister in law as well as their friends were sitting right there. It was a little terrifying at first when I couldn't get through to them on their cell phones, but all turned out right in the end. Thank goodness!

  12. Just thought I'd let know you I've uploaded a few more pictures to my album. Mostly of crashed cars. lol Hope you enjoy them.

  13. Edwards came in 6th I believe, just outside the top five. Not a bad place, but not the best either. A top five would be great, but there is always next year right? big sigh. lol

I don't hate Gordon. lol He's not my favorite, even if cousin Wyatt and you are trying to change my perspective on this. lol But a lot of people do love to hate him. But now Johnson has the target on his back as well as Kyle Busch. Johnson because he wins a lot, Busch because he wins and he acts the way he does. Gordon is now considered one of the old timers I think. Especially by these young whipper-snappers that are coming in. All that means is he has the experience and knows the tracks like the back of his hand. He knows what to expect at each track pretty much. Weather conditions make be different, but that's about it unless they repave or something like that. So maybe it's a good thing to be an old timer. Just my opinion.

  14. I've never really listened to Gordon at a race. I'm usually flipping between Edwards, Martin, Jr, and Stewart. I think I've flipped to Gordon and Johnson if they were winning or something, but I really don't remember them using a lot of bad words. I will have to listen next spring at Bristol and let you know then. lol A lot of drivers let the cuss words fly on the radio when their emotions get the best of them. It might not be the best thing in the world, but it does show that they are passionate about what they do.

  15. I would go for Gordon winning at Charlotte. I would like to see the points get closer for more than two drivers. So maybe we could see Gordon win, then Martin, and then Johnson... What do you think of that idea? lol If only I could predict the winners, but I never seem to get it right.

I've never heard of those bands you mentioned. I really don't listen to much besides country. Sometimes I will listen to some of the older rock and oldies, but mostly it is just country. I like christian music though. The college I went to was a christian college and we would have concerts at least once a year if not once a semester. The one I remember the best was Nickel and Dime. I still have their cd "Three days in March".

  16. I really don't think it was anybody's fault at Talladega. Everyone was excited and going for the lead. Those things happen and really as a fan you have to expect them. If you go to a racetrack you have to expect that anything can go wrong. Admittedly, things are much safer than they used to be, and the taller fence should make some fans feel better. I just don't think slowing the cars down is going to help at all. They aren't slowing them down that much that something like Carl's accident can't happen again. It was just a weird set of circumstances, several factors came together at just the right moment for him to fly up like that. Just like Murphy's law.

  17. Hamlin's choice of the outside lane is confusing. I'm pretty sure he always took the inside lane on Saturday. It's a good question, why the change? If that was were he wanted to be, why didn't he start there? Maybe that question will be answered this week, maybe not.

  18. Well on to Charlotte's Saturday night race. I like Charlotte a lot and am looking forward to this one. I've heard this track called "the house that Jimmie built" because it's called Lowe's Motorspeedway and because he is usually pretty good here. I'm crossing my fingers that Martin gets another win here just to keep the points interesting. Or maybe it can go Gordon, Martin, and then Johnson. That would be cool too, and make things interesting in the points standings. Well, now that I've overwhelmed you with posts... Can't wait to hear your thoughts on all of this. Have a great day!

  19. Did you read about Nascar making the restrictor (I don't know if I spelled that right?) plates smaller for Talladega? They say it's for safety, to make the cars slower with less horsepower. Between this and the fact they are putting up taller fences around the track, I think Carl's flight scared the crap out of them this spring. But why are they waiting this close to make the announcement? Probably so they don't have to listen to people complain as long. Talladega has always been about the "big one". If they do a whole lot more to tame this track, I feel they are going to lose some fans who make the trek to 'Dega every spring and fall. Safety is very important and all, but they've got to be able to race too. Just my opinion. What do you think about this?

  20. Your right though, it doesn't have to be so bad. Just think of it this way, they are so jealous because Jimmie Johnson has won so many races and championships in the last three years. They wish it was their driver, but since it isn't they have to make stuff up about cheating and whatnot. It was the same with Gordon when he was the one on top. I've heard it was the same with Dale Sr when he was on top. People are just jealous is all. That's how I looked at it and try not to pay a whole lot of attention. Their going to like who they want to, and I'm going to like who I want to. Nobody is going to change anybody else's mind on the matter. I think right now the drivers these people either love or hate are Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, and Jr (and sometimes Mark Martin). As soon as someone else starts to win more races and becomes a force to reckon with, then they will be cheating too. You know what I mean?

  21. That's good to know about another Johnson possibly joining the ranks of Nascar. It should be interesting to see if he drives anything like his brother. We could have another champion in training. lol Yeah, I know what you mean about some of the comments. It's like that on both Nascar.com and Yahoo sports-Nascar. The comments are very bad or it's someone replying to them sticking up for their driver. I've noticed Dale Jr gets attacked a lot on those boards. And then Jr nation comes out to stick up for him. It seems the remarks at both places are just so negative. It always makes me want to say "Can't we all just get along!" Like that would work. I try to ignore the negativity though. I'm not sure what I would do if it was on Carl Edwards though. I haven't seen anything bad on him yet, but I'm sure it's out there. And since not everybody likes the same drivers, there is bound to be some tussling and squabbling.

  22. I actually did get to see the Nationwide race on Saturday for once. Did you get to see it? So what was up between Biffle and Logano? What started this duel between the two? And then Logano's dad yelling at Biffle on pit road... yikes. It sucked for Denny Hamlin (who was driving Kyle Busch's car) to get crashed there at the end, but I'm pretty sure it was his own fault for just not seeing Biffle there. Where was his spotter? Why didn't his spotter tell him Biffle was coming up on his outside while Brad K. was trying to pass on the inside. I thought Carl was going to join the crash, but he checked just in time and swerved around them. It was a pretty good race.

  23. Hey Garrett! How's it going? Did you enjoy the race Sunday? I spent most of it creating crafts for a birthday party this coming weekend. I did steal glances at the tv and listened to most of the race anyway. I guess it was just Jimmie Johnson's day and Gordon got a second place right? That's not bad at all, even though I know you want him to win. Mark Martin made it into the top five as well, but I guess Johnson took over the points lead by 12 points or something? Did you see the big crash with five laps to go? I missed it, but I've read about it. I've heard Kahne is pretty upset with getting knocked out that close to the end. Well, Edwards had a good race this time too, so I guess I should be thankful for that. Maybe his bad luck and bad juju is finally wearing off. lol Actually, I wasn't as bored as I thought I would be. Maybe this isn't such a bad track after all. lol

  24. I've been on a few nascar message boards and saw a lot of complaining about Digger the gopher. They say they don't want to be treated like children and subjected to kid's cartoons. But I think it's a good thing for the sport. I think it gets children interested too. My young cousins weren't really into the whole thing and wouldn't sit down to watch any of it. Now they wait for the cartoon to come on and will at least watch the first and the last of the race. They just can't sit still for the whole thing. So in my opinion, I think the cartoon is a good thing. And besides, I enjoy watching it myself. lol
