Today I got to go on a river cruise with a group that I'm part of. It was nearly two hours each way with a stop-over for a hotel meal in the middle. We were hoping for a brighter day, but a bit of mist and rain on the outward journey didn't dampen our spirits, and the return trip was dry with much better visibility.

Hello from the south, been a long time dukes fan for over 40 years now and still love the show. Been to most all the Georgia filming sites with other dukes fans and have owned my old charger since 1999. Had the uniform on it for over 10 years and had to do a re paint in 2012. It is still hemi orange but with a black R/T stripe and magnum 500 wheels. 493 ci with a 4 speed, has plenty of attitude for a resto looking charger.

When I first met Rick, it was in the 90's, so the WWW was in its infancy. When I told him about HazzardNet's predecessor (the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department on Prodigy), he was excited there was a community of fans online still discussing and enjoying the show. He told me he'd be right back and when he returned, he handed me an enormous folder of 8x10s, several of them signed. That was very generous of him. I still have them packed away from the move, but when I find them (someday), I will scan them in and put them on the site. When I mentioned where I worked at the time, we had a connection there and he told me some amazing stories. We just had an awesome conversation. He was very personable and gracious. At the Dukesfest in '01, I got to do an impromptu square dance with him and Jimmie. Good times. I would've liked to have gotten to know him better, but my health and work situations over the years didn't permit me to get to events as much as I'd have liked.

I couldn't use Spike's image because it's hard to recolor black panels, so here's a quick effort based on another image I found. There aren't many places for the graphics. You'll have to imagine the flag on the gas tank, because you can't see it from this angle.

Merry Christmas, everyone! We're expecting snow this weekend. Might not arrive in time for a white Christmas, but it might get here Christmas night/Sunday morning! We have a new pup this year (Troy passed last November). We got her from a rescue in Texas last June and she just turned about 1 year old last month. We're really looking forward to her first Christmas and to see how she reacts to the snow. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a prosperous and happy new year.

We've mentioned a couple of historically famous non-NASCAR drivers recently, so I thought I'd share a quote from another that I heard last night. Juan Manuel Fangio dominated the early years of F1, winning the World Drivers' Championship five times in the first decade. Here's his quote: "Driving fast on the track does not scare me. What scares me is when I drive on the highway I get passed by some idiot who thinks he is Fangio."

True. I don't trust Meadowmufn. She's just too good of friends with the Sheriff. Speaking of which, I wonder if Rosco is going to let her drive his car in the Moonshine 400. If she does, ignore the siren. She will probably use it to trick us into slowing down.

Formula 1 was back this weekend after its summer break with the Dutch Grand Prix. Since it returned to the calendar in 2021, Red Bull's Max Verstappen has dominated his home race with pole and the win each year, but McLaren's upgrades seem to be working better than Red Bull's at the moment, and Max had to line up behind Lando Norris on the grid. Lando's team mate, Oscar Piastri started in third with George Russell the first of the Mercedes cars in fourth. Ferrari were sixth and tenth, but Lewis Hamilton failed to make the final qualifying session and also got a grid penalty for impeding another driver, so started 13th. Alex Albon had a great qualifying for Williams to initially put his car in eighth, but had to start from the back after the floor of his car was found to be illegal. Lando continued his unfortunate record of poor starts from pole and was overtaken by Max into turn 1. Max stayed ahead until Lando retook the lead on lap 18. Lando then held the lead over Max until the checkered flag to take his second win and the point for fastest lap. He ended up with a winning margin of 23 seconds - the sort of lead that Max used to get. The Ferraris seemed to have had better race pace than they showed in qualifying, finishing in third and fifth and separated by McLaren's Oscar Piastri. George Russell slipped back to finish in seventh with Lewis Hamilton catching up to eighth. McLaren are now catching Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship, but they may be regretting swapping their drivers in the last race as Lando could've been closer to Max in the Drivers' Championship. Well it's been more than just 24 hours, but work has been stressful. My boss has emailed me on Wednesday (on my day off) saying that the daycare won't be participating in the college scholarship that has been helping me pay for my online classes. She said this on my way home from vacation two months ago, but my scholarship person was able to talk to her into signing up. But now that my contract is coming up in a week or two, she is withdrawing. So after two full years (halfway through) she is taking that away. There are other grants that I may be able, but I am not sure what to do now. We had DHS stop by last Monday and did a look over and she talked to everyone about stuff. My boss didn't like what she said to me or that I talked to the DHS lady . So Idk if that is what is fueling this. . .but that was stressful enough as it is. Then I was expected to do CPR on Wednesday (telling me Tuesday night) so the same day that she texted me all this, I had to spend 5 hours doing CPR training that isn't due until September. At least it is over. But it's the whole way she did it. I am currently thinking of applying at the school for a para position. The only problem is the breaks and summer and so forth and financially to do it - though it pays pretty much the same as where I am at right. But am already struggling financially and had to borrow money from my parents the other day. On top of it all, my left knee to my ankle has been killing me the past couple of weeks. Keeping me up at night and hurting worse when it's not moved for long periods. I know most of it is my weight. I need to lose weight, but with all this stress all I want is chocolate and french fries. It'd be so much easier if I loved fruits and veggies and all that is good for me...but it's the opposite. Sorry to rain on y'all's parade. I know so many others have it way worse than I have it and it could be a lot worse. It's just been a stressful week and more. Luckily, I only work Monday and Friday and a couple of hours on Thursday this week due to my scholarship (I got 48 paid hours off a semester to work on schoolwork or rest. I had 18 hours left from the past semester, so my boss wants to use them up this week.) I am sorry for the vent. Thank you for listening.

Still raining hard but the worst of it is over. Let us know how it went as soon as you can Hobie. When they ask you how you got your hernia are you going to be honest and tell them it was from lifting and moving your still because you knew the revenuers were on the way?

Then there's that...I agree 100% on this. Well I guess we can't all be right. LOL. I remember Denny's first season in Sprint. He won both races at Pocono. "The Tricky Triangle" LOL. He just better leave Chase and the rest of the Hendrick boys alone. Go pick on Kyle Busch instead...

I'd never even heard that anyone thought picnic was a racist word. It appears that Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner Robert McKinzie made the claim in 2019 before it was subsequently debunked by professors of language and African-American history. Yet another case of someone jumping to conclusions without all the facts. At least Cadbury's won't have have to change the name of their chocolate bar on the this side of the Atlantic!

I wonder what they would do if you parked a General Lee in the driveway. They couldn't say it represented racism. The car represents The Dukes of Hazzard and there wasn't a single racist scene in 7 seasons.

The first race of the F1 season took place yesterday in Bahrain, and it was pretty much a continuation of last year. Max Verstappen took pole and went on to win the race with his Red Bull team mate in second (albeit 22 seconds back). Behind them, the Ferraris, McLarens and Mercedes were all pretty close, although Mercedes had a battery issue which meant they couldn't show their full potential. Only a week to go until the next race in Saudi Arabia.

Forgot to mention the wife's surgery Monday went well. Hopefully she heals up great and we can get back to living a full adventurous life again.

I saw Gordon a while back on you Tube and he was disguised with a hat, moustache etc. and test drove a car with the salesman inside. Gordon was driving wild and the salesman , not knowing it was him, was yelling, " Stop this car, let me out of here! You're going to pay for this car!" Then when they got back to the dealership he jumped out and everybody was laughing and then he saw Gordon peel off his moustache and he saw who it was! LOL!

We have to wait until February 29th for the start of the F1 season. I don't remember any previous Grands Prix being on a Saturday (they're always on a Sunday unless they're cancelled - there are no delayed races like there are in NASCAR), but the first two of this season, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, are on a Saturday this season due to Ramadan. We also get 24 races 2024 - the most ever. I just hope that the other teams have caught up with Red Bull over the winter so we get some racing this year!

Awesome. Thanks for the reminder Boss. I'm not sure which episode I saw first but I missed the opener. Everybody was talking about how good it was. I was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina going to USMC truck driving school and watched it in the rec room. Loved it right away. Had no idea 45 years later it would be such a big part of my life. No other TV show ever had this impact on me. In fact, nothing has except God, family friends and that sort of thing.

It wasn't Doc Petticord, but it looked a bit like him. Pat (Patrick) Crenshaw played Doc Petticord in 'Double Sting' (season 1), but his character was only named "Doctor" in 'And in This Corner, Luke Duke' (season 3) . Parley Baer started playing Doc Appleby in 'Coltrane vs. Duke' near the start of season 4, but then didn't appear again until 'Too Many Roscos' near the start of season 6. In 'Dear Diary' (near the end of season 4), Doc Appleby was played by a different actor, Elmore Vincent. This was his only appearance in Dukes and one of only 29 acting credits between 1956 and 1983.

I saw something cool on the local news today. They showed a semi sitting at a red light in a small town near me and there was a huge orange Dukes 01 that took up most of the back doors. Somebody is a big fan!

Good to hear from you again Spike. Thanks for updating us on your life. Too bad it's not all good news. I'll admit yer Uncle Jesse was gitting a bit worried about where you were.

Maybe it's just a coincidence but it sure seems like the world was still sane when Denver Pyle was alive.....and it seems like it started turning crazy after he passed on. We miss you Uncle Jesse. Happy 103rd birthday in Hazzard Heaven.....a place where everything makes sense and the biggest ending is happy.

True, I know when they moved production from Georgia to the Warner Bros lot in California, they decided to “soften” the show even more, as they had discovered it was so popular with kids. Originally I think they were trying to aim towards an audience of perhaps late teens to 30s. But, they ultimately gained an audience & fans of all ages!

I got to see some live music tonight for the first time in ages. As part of the local Christmas events there are various acts playing on a temporary bandstand in town. Tonight it was a local family where the father sings, the mother plays piano and the son is an international award winning violinist. Funnily enough, they were the main act when I sang in the cathedral a couple of years back (we joined them on stage for 'Nessun Dorma'), and I've since found out that the mother is the cousin of friends of mine (well, this is Ireland after all!). To top it off, the mother had made Christmas cake for afterwards.

I probably won't get any until nearer Christmas when turkey and ham starts to appear on menus. One of the local sandwich shops usually does a turkey, ham, stuffing and cranberry mayonnaise special which I'm looking forward to.

If it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't have understood this joke that I saw earlier. I assume there's room for five passengers!

Found a great one while researching Daisy's Plymouth. From that car's final chase leading up to its destruction at Kissing Cliff, they recycled the same shot but reversed it. I first noticed it by noticing the same body damage (rear fender above the wheel) on both sides. When I slowed it down frame-by-frame, I was shocked to see it was the EXACT SAME FOOTAGE but reversed...and that I'd never had a clue! First time we see it is the reversed footage. You can see on the supposed driver's side what is Luke's arm casually on the window ledge, gripping the roof...on what is actually the passenger side. In the subsequent shot, a millisecond later, the driver can be seen gripping the wheel on the wrong side (must've gone to the UK). One will also notice between the two shots the rear view mirror is on the wrong side, to emphasize what we have already seen. Now, compare the first photo with this one, taken later in the same chase scene. It's EXACTLY THE SAME but reversed. Even the tree, shrubbery, position of the Sheriff car, etc....

Okay, finally time for the COMPLETED item, my Ultimate Cooter's GMC Tow Truck! Only complaint is the decals on the door are 'way too oversized, but they were the only ones I've been able to find in years of looking.

In the episode "Daisy's Close Call" (S6 E19) Cooter is seen using a tool box from the rig. I can't see it in any other episode, so, being Hollywood, it probably wasn't there at any other time, not being a true "working" rig. Still, I thought it would be a great, even necessary, addition. I estimated the size at about 20" x 8" (when he carries it to the truck it is indeed fairly slender). From some angles the grime from being handled by a mechanic is visible. Appears to have a silver or light colored handle. I scratchbuilt it in an evening, primed it and painted it the next day. The same day I scratchbuilt a crowbar, and added a hammer and a wrench that came with the two junkers from which this project began. The wrench was finished in Alclad stainless steel, then grime strategically added. All the tools were made to appear worn and heavily used. Finally all this was added to the wrecker bed, including an extra length of chain visible in the episode "Happy Birthday General Lee".

A episode of the current season of the UK TV show QI put forward the following: When the Vikings invaded in the 11th century, English women found them attractive because they washed more often than the native British men. The Vikings tended to come without women, so they married English women, upsetting the locals. One monk, John of Wallingford, claimed that Danes cheated by washing. He wrote: "The Danes made themselves too acceptable to English women by their elegant manners and their care of their person. They combed their hair daily and took a bath every Saturday, and even changed their clothes frequently, be which means they undermined the chastity of the wives." Thus there is a theory that all of that stories about Vikings raping and pillaging were written by Englishmen whose wives were taken by more attractive Danes. I must remember to have a bath on Saturday to make myself irresistible to women.

I have some very strong political opinions myself, but I prefer my entertainment and fun to be untainted by the negativity and bickering that sometimes surrounds politics. I want everyone to feel welcome here and have fun.
