Hobie Hartkins got a reaction from Skipper Duke in Meeting John SchneiderThen you have to figure what kind of money they made making appearances, etc. DOH set all of them up for life.

Hobie Hartkins got a reaction from Skipper Duke in Meeting John SchneiderI got Jimmy Best's autograph and he didn't charge me a dime! You'll notice John made tons of money on that show just like they all did. Now, he's having to work just to get by ( The last I heard he was worth $200,000 ) and that shows a lack of maturity and class! I happen to know people in this club who are worth more than that! ....A LOT more! And they didn't have all the opportunities that John did! He was just irresponsible and let it slip through his fingers!

Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in TODAY Show in IrelandNBC's TODAY Show was in Ireland yesterday and they posted a few videos about their visit. Here's one on the Cliffs of Moher:

Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in Across the PondOne of the videos I watched recently started with a reactor who felt slighted that an app offered two English language options. The first had a Union Jack and was labeled "English (British)" while the second had a Stars and Stripes and was labeled "English (Simplified)". It was pointed out in the comments that when lexicographer Noah Webster wrote the first American dictionary, one of his aims was to simplify spellings. Some of them stuck while others didn't. There's a page at Merriam-Webster.com which lists some of his successes and failures.
I don't know which words are down to Mr Webster, but American English often simplifies spellings to use the same word for two completely different meanings. In another reaction video, the reactor had never heard that the British call the edge of the road the kerb rather than the curb. Here are a few examples of words where British English has two spellings for two meanings even when they're pronounced the same:
Kerb: the edge of the road or garden bed. Curb: to control or limit something. Both are "curb" in American English.
Storey: a level of a building. Story: an account of incidents or events. Both are "story" in American English.
Cheque: a method of payment. Check: to examine or inspect something. Both are "check" in American English.
Draught: beer on tap. Draft: a preliminary version. Both are "draft" in American English.
I'm sure there are many others. That's apart from where we use completely different words!

Hobie Hartkins reacted to Meadowmufn in Meeting John SchneiderAnd keep in mind that in the 80s, the average salary for a year in the US was less than they got per episode.
-
Hobie Hartkins reacted to Meadowmufn in Meeting John SchneiderI know what kind of money Jimmie made at appearances. I helped them run their table several times. I will not be disclosing the amount here, however. But 1 appearance a month at that amount would afford a very nice living.

Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in Meeting John SchneiderIf what Google tells me is correct, John and Tom received between $20-25k per episode plus the famously small royalties. That's roughly $62-78k in today's money, which should've set them up for a while. These figures are similar to what Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada reportedly earned per episode on CHiPs.

Hobie Hartkins reacted to Meadowmufn in Meeting John SchneiderFrom what I recall working events with Jimmie, if you bought a photo, I don't think he charged extra for autographs. I don't recall if he charged for autographs on items not purchased from him, but everything was pretty reasonably priced, usually $5-$15. I had also heard that Ben had capped what people could charge at events taking place at Cooter's so prices would be reasonable for fans. That's all I'll say about that...

Hobie Hartkins reacted to Webb in Meeting John SchneiderOh I very much agree. Didn’t seem right to me, It does sound like a Boss scheme for sure, I was a little disappointed nothing was disclosed but what can you do?
-
Hobie Hartkins reacted to Garrett Duke in NASCAR questionWell I'm sure for most of you, I don't have to say who's my favorite driver. But I'll put it here for the newbies.
My all time favorite driver is Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. I do like Dale Earnhardt Jr as well. My favorite current driver is Chase Elliott. I'm all for team Hendrick.

Hobie Hartkins got a reaction from Meadowmufn in New Dukes VehiclesI've got several things
( both major and minor) going right now, but I'll definitely be looking into buying one and having it painted correctly! I don't put my face on this site because of security reasons ( this is NOT a secure site!) but if I wind up getting a General, whether '69 or 26, I'll get a pic of me in my DOH shirt ( the Dukes farm house) and with me drinking a libation from my DOH beer glass, sitting on the door of my new General Lee!

Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in Across the PondHere's another video I've just watched a reaction to. This Brazilian lady had been living in the UK for 10 years when she made the video, although she doesn't seem to have posted much lately. I'm happy to elaborate on any of the topics she mentions. The only one which wasn't explained well was Yorkshire Pudding. It's not bread/dough, it's actually batter like a pancake mix, but it's baked in a very hot oven. As she says, delicious as part of a roast dinner.

Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in New Dukes VehiclesI see they're making 510 Generals and 300 Sheriff cars. and the Generals come with "an optional roof flag decal". We don't use cubic inches here, but I thought the 6.1 Hemi worked out at 370 cu in rather than the quoted 392.
The recent Chargers and Challengers are certainly fast (some with over 700hp), and seem to be used by the police and criminals. From the chase videos I've watched, sometimes the criminals get away, but they're just as likely to wind up in a wreck after a PIT maneuver, especially if the police are Arkansas State Troopers.
The General reminds me of this Challenger mock-up I posted over 10 years ago. I added a few inches to the length and changed a few other details like the grille.
Of course, Dodge are now making the 2026 Charger as a 2-door, and even show it in orange on their website:

Hobie Hartkins reacted to RogerDuke in What I'm Doing Right Now!I always struggle with tech and new things. Does anybody know if there is a Recent Posts section that I am missing?
-
Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in What I'm Doing Right Now!I'm still getting used to the new layout and mainly use my laptop to view HazzardNet, so I missed the "Unread Content" icon on the bottom-left of the phone screen. That'll give you a third option.
-
Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in NASCAR newsI hope to get around to the Bahrain Grand Prix review tomorrow, but for tonight just a quick congratulations to Elfyn Evans. Earlier today the Welsh driver became the first British winner of the World Rally Championship for 25 years after Swedish rival Oliver Solberg crashed near the end of the final stage in Italy. Elfyn has previously been runner-up on five occasions.

Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in What I'm Doing Right Now!I'm not sure which screen layout you have: computer (laptop/desktop) or phone, but the instructions are very similar.
On a computer, you'll have an orange menu bar at the top of the page under the HazzardNet logo. On a phone you'll have icons across the bottom of the screen. Click/tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) on the right and you'll get the same options as the computer menu bar.
From here, click/tap "Latest Posts & Activity". If you only want to see unread posts, click/top "New Posts". If you want to see all recent activity, i.e. recent posts, reactions, new members joining etc., then click/tap "All Activity". That's the one I go for.

Hobie Hartkins got a reaction from Skipper Duke in What I'm Doing Right NowOK fellow citizens of Hazzard! ( Hazzardites! :) ) I'm back and about to start on my 1st Natural Ice and watch the Yankees get killed by the Sox! I'm wondering about my beer though.....
They say Natural Ice is the #1 Ice brew in America ( the world??) but I like it fine but not as well as Milwaukee's Best Ice! They say Natural Ice is the #! because of college kids drinking so much of it When I was in college, I drank Heineken, an expensive high brow foreign beer from Holland. I still like it and will still drink it but haven't had it in a long time. I've been drinking the " Cheap" stuff! ( notice the quotes...beer has gotten ridiculous in price!!) When I was poor I drank the expensive stuff and now I'm comfortable, I drink the cheap stuff....go figure! ( You guys feel free to psychoanalyze me on thisi if you want to! :) )
Hey cousin Roger I'm glad you're back and I'm hoping you could set me up with one of Emma's friends! Someone to go to the Boar's Nest and party with! :)

Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in R.I.P. Dennis HaskinsFor some reason, despite having a speaking part, he's not credited in that episode, so I missed it. That makes four appearances.

Hobie Hartkins reacted to RogerDuke in R.I.P. Dennis HaskinsWe lost another one....so sad.
I was thinking he played in 5 Dukes episodes but you don't usually get these things wrong. Being in One Armed Bandits makes him a big part of Dukes history....even though it wasn't a big role.
I was so mad because he came to visit the local college and I didn't know he was going to be there until right after he left.
