The last 24 hours

Today I got to go on a river cruise with a group that I'm part of. It was nearly two hours each way with a stop-over for a hotel meal in the middle. We were hoping for a brighter day, but a bit of mist and rain on the outward journey didn't dampen our spirits, and the return trip was dry with much better visibility.6 points -
Hello from NW Georgia
Skipper Duke and 5 others reacted to floyd012010 for a topic
Hello from the south, been a long time dukes fan for over 40 years now and still love the show. Been to most all the Georgia filming sites with other dukes fans and have owned my old charger since 1999. Had the uniform on it for over 10 years and had to do a re paint in 2012. It is still hemi orange but with a black R/T stripe and magnum 500 wheels. 493 ci with a 4 speed, has plenty of attitude for a resto looking charger.6 points -

RIP Rick Hurst
Justin and 4 others reacted to Meadowmufn for a topic
When I first met Rick, it was in the 90's, so the WWW was in its infancy. When I told him about HazzardNet's predecessor (the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department on Prodigy), he was excited there was a community of fans online still discussing and enjoying the show. He told me he'd be right back and when he returned, he handed me an enormous folder of 8x10s, several of them signed. That was very generous of him. I still have them packed away from the move, but when I find them (someday), I will scan them in and put them on the site. When I mentioned where I worked at the time, we had a connection there and he told me some amazing stories. We just had an awesome conversation. He was very personable and gracious. At the Dukesfest in '01, I got to do an impromptu square dance with him and Jimmie. Good times. I would've liked to have gotten to know him better, but my health and work situations over the years didn't permit me to get to events as much as I'd have liked.5 points -

I couldn't use Spike's image because it's hard to recolor black panels, so here's a quick effort based on another image I found. There aren't many places for the graphics. You'll have to imagine the flag on the gas tank, because you can't see it from this angle.5 points

Merry Christmas 2021
Boss JD Hogg and 4 others reacted to Meadowmufn for a topic
Merry Christmas, everyone! We're expecting snow this weekend. Might not arrive in time for a white Christmas, but it might get here Christmas night/Sunday morning! We have a new pup this year (Troy passed last November). We got her from a rescue in Texas last June and she just turned about 1 year old last month. We're really looking forward to her first Christmas and to see how she reacts to the snow. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a prosperous and happy new year.5 points -

NASCAR news
Hobie Hartkins and 4 others reacted to HossC for a topic
We've mentioned a couple of historically famous non-NASCAR drivers recently, so I thought I'd share a quote from another that I heard last night. Juan Manuel Fangio dominated the early years of F1, winning the World Drivers' Championship five times in the first decade. Here's his quote: "Driving fast on the track does not scare me. What scares me is when I drive on the highway I get passed by some idiot who thinks he is Fangio."5 points -

Hazzard Garage/ Boars Nest
Skipper Duke and 3 others reacted to floyd012010 for a topic
I haven't been here in awhile. Life happens and so I quit my job and started my own business. Anyway just recently I was told of a museum close to where I live that was like the Boars Nest. Literally 20 minutes from my house out a little 2 lane road was this awesome spectacle. It is Cooters garage from the California episodes and it is very much tv accurate. To the RH side he has built a screen accurate Boars Nest and when I say it is screen accurate I mean down to the original juke box and pinball machine. Boss's office has the pool table and the big sword fish on the wall. I can't figure out how to post pics on here since I'm just not great with that kinda stuff but I got a clip of the inside of the Boars Nest and several pics of the outside right down to the red Hoggoco gas pumps out front. The guy has a daisy jeep and a patrol car. The general lee is in the paint shop and he also has a Cadillac and a wrecker in the works too. It's hard to explain in words just how awesome this place looks but it is really cool4 points -

Well done, Skipper. I also remembered the scene but not the episode. Watching the scene again, I remembered that it slightly annoyed me. True. I don't trust Meadowmufn. She's just too good of friends with the Sheriff. Speaking of which, I wonder if Rosco is going to let her drive his car in the Moonshine 400. If she does, ignore the siren. She will probably use it to trick us into slowing down.4 points -
Dating advice
Spike and 3 others reacted to Meadowmufn for a topic
My parents were married 67 years, just a few months shy of 68 years when dad passed. They got married at 19 (mom) and 21 (dad). I've been married almost 23 years. My oldest sister celebrates anniversary #32 this year and my other sister will celebrate #26 later this year. So, my advice would be to find someone who's been married a long time and get advice from them! Because whatever my mom and dad were doing right, it seemed to rub off on us kids. My mom always told me that the key to a long marriage was.... 2 tv sets. And for the record, all of us kids have more than 1 tv set.4 points -

Someone, who shall remain nameless unless they want to reveal themselves, has graciously paid for HazzardNet's hosting this month via the Ko-Fi widget in the right sidebar. I did, however, create a new badge that I will give out to everyone who contributes. So, if you want to go poking around, you'll probably find said individual. 🤭 Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I won't go into details, but the last 6 months have probably been the roughest of my life and, though I have been a little absent from the forums (though I have been working on a few things in the background), I am so grateful for all of you. I know there's always a place here I can come to get away from all my troubles. Dukes fans are the best! -Mufn4 points -

I got to see some live music tonight for the first time in ages. As part of the local Christmas events there are various acts playing on a temporary bandstand in town. Tonight it was a local family where the father sings, the mother plays piano and the son is an international award winning violinist. Funnily enough, they were the main act when I sang in the cathedral a couple of years back (we joined them on stage for 'Nessun Dorma'), and I've since found out that the mother is the cousin of friends of mine (well, this is Ireland after all!). To top it off, the mother had made Christmas cake for afterwards.4 points

I think it's nice, that here in Hazzard, you can say stuff and nobody thinks you're weird or you don't have to explain what you mean or what you're talking about, because everybody in Hazzard knows all the episodes! Hey everyone. I'm Dani and I'm new here and am a huge fan of the Dukes Of Hazzard. I'm a country gal and proud of it. I own every single season of the Dukes Of Hazzard and recently began rewatching it from the beginning of the series. My favorite Duke is Bo Duke and I love John Schneider. I'm currently working on saving money to buy myself a horse. Some of the things I like doing are working with my grandpa out on the farm, horseback riding, reading, writing fan fiction, roleplaying, watching tv and much more. I love making new friends so if you'd like to get to know me better and want to know more don't be afraid to ask.4 points -

Mistakes (Bloopers)/Things I've Noticed About The Show
Philip_Duke and 3 others reacted to Andrew D Charger Chaser for a topic
Found a great one while researching Daisy's Plymouth. From that car's final chase leading up to its destruction at Kissing Cliff, they recycled the same shot but reversed it. I first noticed it by noticing the same body damage (rear fender above the wheel) on both sides. When I slowed it down frame-by-frame, I was shocked to see it was the EXACT SAME FOOTAGE but reversed...and that I'd never had a clue! First time we see it is the reversed footage. You can see on the supposed driver's side what is Luke's arm casually on the window ledge, gripping the roof...on what is actually the passenger side. In the subsequent shot, a millisecond later, the driver can be seen gripping the wheel on the wrong side (must've gone to the UK). One will also notice between the two shots the rear view mirror is on the wrong side, to emphasize what we have already seen. Now, compare the first photo with this one, taken later in the same chase scene. It's EXACTLY THE SAME but reversed. Even the tree, shrubbery, position of the Sheriff car, etc....4 points -
The last 24 hours
Skipper Duke and 3 others reacted to HossC for a topic
A episode of the current season of the UK TV show QI put forward the following: When the Vikings invaded in the 11th century, English women found them attractive because they washed more often than the native British men. The Vikings tended to come without women, so they married English women, upsetting the locals. One monk, John of Wallingford, claimed that Danes cheated by washing. He wrote: "The Danes made themselves too acceptable to English women by their elegant manners and their care of their person. They combed their hair daily and took a bath every Saturday, and even changed their clothes frequently, be which means they undermined the chastity of the wives." Thus there is a theory that all of that stories about Vikings raping and pillaging were written by Englishmen whose wives were taken by more attractive Danes. I must remember to have a bath on Saturday to make myself irresistible to women.4 points -
Things are changing at Cooter's Pigeon Forge!
Skipper Duke and 3 others reacted to Mark B / Scooter Davenport for a topic
In Hazzard, the more things change, the more they stay the same. This is also true at Cooter's Place in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. About a year ago, Cooter's in Gatlinburg relocated to nearby Pigeon Forge due to unforseen circumstances. The new location does not have the 'familily fun center' gocarts and indoor mini golf. However, the new store brings opportunities to build new fun experiences for Dukes fans to enjoy. In addition to easier access and expanded room for events and more cool Hazzard merchandise and collectibles, we are now buiding in the famiilar setting of the Hazzard Garage. The General Lee needs a cozy home after all! This will be just the first of more things to come over the coming months, so stay tuned!4 points -

Well done for catching that, Roger, and so close on the heels of HazzardNet's 20th. Admittedly, we didn't get the show until March 3rd in the UK, but I'm happy to celebrate now. I'm pretty sure I saw the first show, or at least one of the Georgia episodes. The first run in the UK was shown at 9pm on a Saturday night, and I was only eight at the time, so I wasn't allowed to watch many of them. Luckily, the broadcaster soon moved the show to something like 5pm, and I could watch every week. Here's a title card for a new episode over a screengrab from 'One Armed Bandits':4 points -
