The last 24 hoursMeadowmufn and 5 others reacted to HossC for a topic Today I got to go on a river cruise with a group that I'm part of. It was nearly two hours each way with a stop-over for a hotel meal in the middle. We were hoping for a brighter day, but a bit of mist and rain on the outward journey didn't dampen our spirits, and the return trip was dry with much better visibility.6 points

Hello from NW GeorgiaSkipper Duke and 5 others reacted to floyd012010 for a topic Hello from the south, been a long time dukes fan for over 40 years now and still love the show. Been to most all the Georgia filming sites with other dukes fans and have owned my old charger since 1999. Had the uniform on it for over 10 years and had to do a re paint in 2012. It is still hemi orange but with a black R/T stripe and magnum 500 wheels. 493 ci with a 4 speed, has plenty of attitude for a resto looking charger.6 points

RIP Rick HurstJustin and 4 others reacted to Meadowmufn for a topic When I first met Rick, it was in the 90's, so the WWW was in its infancy. When I told him about HazzardNet's predecessor (the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department on Prodigy), he was excited there was a community of fans online still discussing and enjoying the show. He told me he'd be right back and when he returned, he handed me an enormous folder of 8x10s, several of them signed. That was very generous of him. I still have them packed away from the move, but when I find them (someday), I will scan them in and put them on the site. When I mentioned where I worked at the time, we had a connection there and he told me some amazing stories. We just had an awesome conversation. He was very personable and gracious. At the Dukesfest in '01, I got to do an impromptu square dance with him and Jimmie. Good times. I would've liked to have gotten to know him better, but my health and work situations over the years didn't permit me to get to events as much as I'd have liked.5 points

I couldn't use Spike's image because it's hard to recolor black panels, so here's a quick effort based on another image I found. There aren't many places for the graphics. You'll have to imagine the flag on the gas tank, because you can't see it from this angle.5 points

Merry Christmas 2021Boss JD Hogg and 4 others reacted to Meadowmufn for a topic Merry Christmas, everyone! We're expecting snow this weekend. Might not arrive in time for a white Christmas, but it might get here Christmas night/Sunday morning! We have a new pup this year (Troy passed last November). We got her from a rescue in Texas last June and she just turned about 1 year old last month. We're really looking forward to her first Christmas and to see how she reacts to the snow. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a prosperous and happy new year.5 points

NASCAR newsHobie Hartkins and 4 others reacted to HossC for a topic We've mentioned a couple of historically famous non-NASCAR drivers recently, so I thought I'd share a quote from another that I heard last night. Juan Manuel Fangio dominated the early years of F1, winning the World Drivers' Championship five times in the first decade. Here's his quote: "Driving fast on the track does not scare me. What scares me is when I drive on the highway I get passed by some idiot who thinks he is Fangio."5 points

Signs of HazzardHobie Hartkins and 3 others reacted to Bryce for a topic Wow. You guys are awesome. I feel like a chooch. I made a post 5 years ago and y’all responded and I ghosted you. So, my wife planned a surprise trip to Covington, GA with the fam. Got To visit the jump sites from the first 5 episodes, meet some other cool Dukes fans AND John Schneider happened to be in town after a convention in Atlanta. Talk about an amazing day! Then, hit Cooters Garage in Pigeon Forge, TN a couple days later. Anyway, I’m totally geeking out on all things Dukes again and looking forward to checking out the forums here! I still love your artwork recreations, Hoss!4 points

The MoonShine 400 !!Garrett Duke and 3 others reacted to RogerDuke for a topic True. I don't trust Meadowmufn. She's just too good of friends with the Sheriff. Speaking of which, I wonder if Rosco is going to let her drive his car in the Moonshine 400. If she does, ignore the siren. She will probably use it to trick us into slowing down.4 points

Dating adviceSpike and 3 others reacted to Meadowmufn for a topic My parents were married 67 years, just a few months shy of 68 years when dad passed. They got married at 19 (mom) and 21 (dad). I've been married almost 23 years. My oldest sister celebrates anniversary #32 this year and my other sister will celebrate #26 later this year. So, my advice would be to find someone who's been married a long time and get advice from them! Because whatever my mom and dad were doing right, it seemed to rub off on us kids. My mom always told me that the key to a long marriage was.... 2 tv sets. And for the record, all of us kids have more than 1 tv set.4 points

The last 24 hoursRogerDuke and 3 others reacted to Garrett Duke for a topic Thank you. You all are the best. My scholarship person responded to an email yesterday saying that I won't have to pay anything back as long as I stay at the day care for a year. Which makes things even worse. I'd understand if it was I that was quitting the program, but it's the day care that's quitting it. In my mind, I shouldn't be the one forced to stay due to what they are doing. Maybe I am wrong and irrational. I really wish I never signed up for these classes now. I don't know. I emailed the person back with a couple other questions and she has yet to respond. So I guess we will see. On top of it all, I now got a bad cold. I was supposed to enjoy this week as I only work Monday and Friday. Now I have this to deal with. Kenny Chesney has a song on his new album that is "This too Shall Pass". I am sure this will pass and maybe it's not as bad as I am making it out to be. I just hate the thought of being stuck at a place that I no longer feel appreciated at and no longer happy at. Though financially, I don't know where else to go or so forth. Thank you for listening.4 points

The Dukes Of Hazzard 45th Anniversary January 26, 1979 - January 26 2024Hobie Hartkins and 3 others reacted to RogerDuke for a topic Awesome. Thanks for the reminder Boss. I'm not sure which episode I saw first but I missed the opener. Everybody was talking about how good it was. I was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina going to USMC truck driving school and watched it in the rec room. Loved it right away. Had no idea 45 years later it would be such a big part of my life. No other TV show ever had this impact on me. In fact, nothing has except God, family friends and that sort of thing.4 points

Hello from NW GeorgiaHobie Hartkins and 3 others reacted to floyd012010 for a topic I was able to get into the junkyard way back in the early 2000's and got some pics of the place. The old bus was there then and maybe a few cars were there. Later the no trespassing signs and crap went up so that was that. I got a few pics of the old farm house too when it was still standing. Lots has changed there since the early 2000's4 points

You could ask him what the first, second, third or fourth Sunday was of any month of any year and he always got the number right. Sometimes he got it quick and sometimes it took a few seconds. We tested him a lot because he loved doing it and he never missed. He only did Sundays though. He was in his mid 20s at the time and was about at a 5 year old level with intelligence. It was amazing to witness!)4 points

RIP Angela LansburySkipper Duke and 3 others reacted to HossC for a topic Angela Lansbury has died just 5 days before her 97th birthday. She passed away in her sleep at her LA home. Born in London in 1925, when she wasn't in LA, she spent a good bit of time at her home in Co. Cork here in Ireland. I'm sure we all remember her as Jessica Fletcher in 'Murder She Wrote'. Here she is entering the former Duke Farm at Valencia Oaks in the 1988 episode 'Coal Miner's Slaughter', an episode which also featured Denver Pyle and Celebrity Speed Trap victim Hoyt Axton. The rest of my pictures are in the Valencia Oaks Movie Ranch thread. For another Dukes tie-in, from 1976 to 1981, Cathy Bach was married to Angela's stepson David Shaw.4 points

I got to see some live music tonight for the first time in ages. As part of the local Christmas events there are various acts playing on a temporary bandstand in town. Tonight it was a local family where the father sings, the mother plays piano and the son is an international award winning violinist. Funnily enough, they were the main act when I sang in the cathedral a couple of years back (we joined them on stage for 'Nessun Dorma'), and I've since found out that the mother is the cousin of friends of mine (well, this is Ireland after all!). To top it off, the mother had made Christmas cake for afterwards.4 points

The last 24 hoursSkipper Duke and 3 others reacted to HossC for a topic A episode of the current season of the UK TV show QI put forward the following: When the Vikings invaded in the 11th century, English women found them attractive because they washed more often than the native British men. The Vikings tended to come without women, so they married English women, upsetting the locals. One monk, John of Wallingford, claimed that Danes cheated by washing. He wrote: "The Danes made themselves too acceptable to English women by their elegant manners and their care of their person. They combed their hair daily and took a bath every Saturday, and even changed their clothes frequently, be which means they undermined the chastity of the wives." Thus there is a theory that all of that stories about Vikings raping and pillaging were written by Englishmen whose wives were taken by more attractive Danes. I must remember to have a bath on Saturday to make myself irresistible to women.4 points

Things are changing at Cooter's Pigeon Forge!Skipper Duke and 3 others reacted to Mark B / Scooter Davenport for a topic In Hazzard, the more things change, the more they stay the same. This is also true at Cooter's Place in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. About a year ago, Cooter's in Gatlinburg relocated to nearby Pigeon Forge due to unforseen circumstances. The new location does not have the 'familily fun center' gocarts and indoor mini golf. However, the new store brings opportunities to build new fun experiences for Dukes fans to enjoy. In addition to easier access and expanded room for events and more cool Hazzard merchandise and collectibles, we are now buiding in the famiilar setting of the Hazzard Garage. The General Lee needs a cozy home after all! This will be just the first of more things to come over the coming months, so stay tuned!4 points
