Well thought now was good as time as any to start another thread. And with the NASCAR season in full swing right now, there is plenty of news to go around. As of now, don't really have any for the Sprint Cup series as news related, but do have a bit of news for the Nationwide Series race. They raced in St. Louis last Saturday night where Carl Edwards (also a cup driver) won the race, though has sparked a lot of controversay with it. On the last lap, Edwards passed Brad Keselowski (another cup driver. Brad and Carl have a history of wrecking each other and so forth. Brad flipped Carl last year at Talledeg and Carl flipped Brad at Atlanta this year after Brad knocked him …

Well I had started a thread like this at my NASCAR Club or what not on here, but figured it might be fun to do it here...especially since we 52 more days until Daytona 500 in February. The last trivia thread I had, I posted the trivia question first and then who ever answered the trivia question could come up with their own question...or could pass. I'll start... The Nationwide Series which use to be known as the Busch Series, is like what AAA (Triple A) baseball is to the MLB, to the Sprint Cup (Formally Winston Cup). If that make sense. Except that drivers from the Sprint Cup can also drive in the Nationwide Series races if they chose to do so. For example: Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Joey Lagano, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch drive all or some Nationwide Series races but are also full time Sprint Cup drivers. There are others that do both, but just listed the ones that came to mind right away. Well the chase will officially start on Sunday at Chicagoland...meaning we have ten races left of the season. Thought it would be interesting to see who y'all think may win the championship in ten weeks. My opinion may be biased, but with how he's been racing in the past few weeks and how dominant he has been, I voted for Jeff Gordon. (Y'all surprised?) (Please disregarud my last predition thread...I did the pole wrong. . .)

Hey Garrett (or anybody else who wants to chime in) I was having a discussion with my NASCAR friend earlier this week and the subject came up about how I struggle to find a driver to really get excited about. If only someone would get an orange 01 car, or even any colored 01 car, I would probably become a bigger more entusiastic fan. Being the biggest and most knowledgable Dale Jr fan I know, he pointed something out I never considered. Dale has southern boy roots just like the Duke boys and fewer and fewer of these guys do. Back in the early days of NASCAR almost all the top drivers were rednecks like me. (although being from northern Pennsylvania I'm not exactly south…

NASCAR and the entire world of racing has lost a legend as Dick Trickle died yesterday (May 16, 2013) of an apparent suicide as his body was found lying next to his truck at the cemetery where his granddaughter is buried. Trickle is a Wisconsin native where he raced short track (believed to have raced UP to a thousand races!) before moving onto North Carolina and to NASCAR. He was made rookie of the year in NASCAR at the age of 48...raced 303 NASCAR Cup races and yet the best finish he has gotten in NASCAR was third place. I come on here with a heavy heart, a saddened heart, to let you know that NASCAR driver Jason Leffler died yesterday at the age of 37. As of right now, not a whole lot is coming out about what happened other than that he was at a heat race in a 410 Sprint Car event at Bridgeport Speedway when his engine blew and he rolled three times. "Jason Leffler Remembered as a Friend, teammate, father" My thoughts and prayers goes out for Jason, his son, his family, his friends...Jason will be missed on and off the track.

The Sprint Cup is the top series or top devision of NASCAR...the big leagues. It is the series that I watch and follow, so I know more of the drivers and races and info regarding the Sprint Cup than I do the Nationwide Series. The Sprint Cup is a little different than the Nationwide Series race in the fact they have what they call the Chase. The Chase is like the play offs and only the top twelve in points are able to be in the chase to race for the championship. Any driver outside of the top 12 is racing for 13 who wins a million dollars at the end of the season. The points are reset at the begining of the chase which is the final ten races of the season and with each wi…

Tony Stewart and Ray Evernham's SRX series kicked off Saturday night at Stafford Motor Speedway. It started off non dramatic as all the driver's where feeling out the cars. Greg Biffle led all the laps and won Heat 1. Heat two saw a lot more action and the local "superstar" Doug Coby win after passing Michael Waltrip who led most of heat 2.
