I just watched two hours of CMAs Country Music Festival last night and I'm more convinced than ever that country music is dead. There were a few exceptions but basically those two hours were a rock/pop festival. Country and Western was what country used to be called but when the western part faded out, the western name was dropped. Marty Robbins was probably the last western singer. I think country should consider changing its name again since only about 20% of it is really "country" and that number drops every year. Thank goodness there's still a few country singers out there. I did enjoy their performances last night. But it appears their time in the spotlight is lim…

Hey everybody... I know I haven't been on here for a while, but there's lots of reason! haha As many of you know, I love the farm more than anything. I live on our family farm that has been in the family for 100 years. My great-granddad was the first settler in this area, buying a 10 acre plot of land on the river bank. We still own the original homestead and have expanded the operation to over 3000 acres and 350 head of cattle. We had a big scare this spring and wound up almost losing the whole spread. My dad went from driving truck part time to full time, and my mom had to go back to work. I ended up juggling going to school and putting the crop in myself this year. O…

National Prayer Remembering 9-11-2001 Lord, we come to You on bended knee, heads bowed and our hearts filled to overflowing with so much grief for the many people who have been injured and killed in our National crises. We ask you, Lord, to give courage and strength to those who so bravely go to their aid. And though our hearts will be heavy and filled with sorrow we ask, Lord, that You give them the endurance needed to help them through this difficult task. Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty. We ask, Lord, that You guid…

This is the thread where everybody posts how fun it is to be a Steelers fan and Garrett posts how depressing it is to be a Bears fan. How many fantasy teams are you in Garrett and how are they doing? I'll finish second in one and am in the playoff hunt in the other. Sunday is a big day for us fantasy players. Good luck Garrett!

I was planning on going to an American car show today (this one where I sat in a General Lee last year), but various factors conspired against it. Luckily there was another car related event much closer to home: Cannonball Ireland 2011 came to town. Unlike the namesake movies from the '80s, this was not a race, but just a charity fund-raising cruise of some very expensive cars including Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins amongst others: There were a few American cars there too: They all parked up in the grounds of the castle. There must have been several million dollars' worth of cars on show.

  10. I have recently had a very unfortunate event happen to me. I was a victim of crime. This event has happened to me before and I realize that I need to be more careful, maybe it's a warning from the powers that be that I need to be more careful and less trusting of the world. However... with that being said, I currently work in a line of work that I have to deal with budding criminal minds every day. I have to help them complete their court ordered obligations so they can begin the rehabilitation processes. Now, after being a victim today of crime... I am reminded how different I am from criminal minds and how much the same I am. I want justice to be served, at any cost. …

The Station West Warwick Rhode Island February 20th 2003 Five years ago a little after 11pm, the fourth deadliest night club in United States history happened. Started by a band’s pyrotechnics being set off, as they began their first song. The band was not aware that the night club was using flammable soundproofing foam. The night club did not have a sprinkler system installed. The club had been inspected two months before the fire. No one got a permit for the pyrotechnics. The club said they had not been told, a band member claimed the club had been informed. In twenty seconds, the lives over 400 people in that building changed. 96 died that night, 4 others in the …

My wife is down in Winchester Virginia today (Aug 18) visiting our daughter and she was in a doctor's office with our infant grandson. Also in the waiting room was a lady with two children. One of the children had several Dukes of Hazzard toys he was playing with. My wife brought up the subject of Dukes and after talking awhile, the mother mentioned that her husband is a member of HazzardNet. Just then, she was interrupted to go in and my wife never got more information. I know this is a shot in the dark but I was wondering if anybody would know who that is. Since the person might want their location to remain anynonymous, sending me a private message might be the best w…

Just found on another Forum this test, really realistic and interesting, and I'd like to share it with you.. http://www.personalitylab.org/tests/bfi_self.htm My results (from 0 to 100): Extraversion: 11 (from 0 to 100)... I know I'm totally an introverted person. :-)) (high grade of introversion) High scorers tend to be sociable and outgoing. They prefer to be around people most of the time. Has anybody seen the new football league? I have always thought, it feels kind of lonely and I always have withdrawal feelings when it's all over for the NFL. I think this may be good. There are 8 teams and for now. I think I'm going with the Houston Rough Necks! They don't have a name like that in any other sport, that I know of. It reminds me of when Cooter's buddy came to town and was framed for stealing that truck and Cooter had to help him out. Remember? They were laughing and talking about all the rough necking they used to do.....WHAT.... is a Rough Neck? I think it's a politically Correct term for RED neck! You guys ought to try these teams out. They're pretty …

It's to late to tell you when this is because it was yesterday... Anyway, yesterday on Sunday we went to Silverstone as it was close to where we were on vacation. I've never seen a race on a real circuit before so I was quite exited. I've been to the Hockenheimring and the Nurburgring before but not on a raceday. As you probably noticed already, it was raceday of truck racing. Went in there, walk to a nice spectator area and sat down. They had Country music through the speakers in which most had some form of truck reference in them. Best part was, when I had only sat down for 1 second the dukes theme started playing! Also heard smokey and the bandit and Convoy through …

Every time I see one of those commercials from those on-line dating services I think of Rosco's Mama's line from "Mrs Rosco P. Coltrane". I may not have it exactly right but it went something like "You got a girl out of a computer?" LOL If I ran one of those companies I'd pay Warner Brothers to use that clip in a commercial. The Dukes were way ahead of their time. Boss ran a solar powered still. Jesse invented ethanol. Rosco got a girl from a computer. I feel sorry for the city folks who think hicks aren't that smart.

Today was a crazy day for me. I had a stair give and i fell through. Tore my big toe nail almost all the way off, hurt my leg and bruise my other knee. It looked like the board was rotted because it was soft and pulled away from the other board it was nailed to. I'm ok, have my leg propped up with ice. Has anyone ever had an experience like that?

I've been absolutely glued to my TV set. Being from Canada, I don't get to talk to too many folks about baseball, as its more of an "American sport". Of course, we do have the Toronto Blue Jays (and I'm from Toronto!) but seeing the way our season went was just awful. But that's besides the point. Anyone been watching the playoffs? This year they have been amazing! I think that the Wildcard games, division series and championship series have all been the most exciting ones in recent memory. If anyone wants to talk baseball, hit me up in this thread! I'm obsessed.
