RogerDuke
Good to hear from you again Spike. Thanks for updating us on your life. Too bad it's not all good news. RogerDuke
I saw something cool on the local news today. They showed a semi sitting at a red light in a small town near me and there was a huge orange Dukes 01 that took up most of the back doors. Somebody is a big fan! Spike
One bad thing about owning a sports sedan is people want to stop light race....a lot , especially when the lanes merge down to 1 lane. Tuesday I almost got ran off the road by one of these clowns. I just got lucky that the light turned green as I was coming up to the light so I just kept going the speed limit but apparently this jerk in a Lincoln wasn't happy and floored his SUV and as I was making my way over in front of him he put it right next to me and since there was oncoming traffic I slammed on the brakes so no one would get hit head on by that idiot. This clown was amused by this when I caught up to him at the next stop light. Really your amused at almost causing a head on collision and running someone else off the road. I was so mad at their selfishness and ignorance but remembered the local road rage shooting that happened a few weeks ago so I let bygones be bygones. RogerDuke
I went through that when I had my Ninja. Young men in cars see you are on something that looks fast and want to challenge you. It reminds me of that Waylon quote "If any of y'all ever drive through Hazzard, well you might remember that if it's got wheels, folks tend to want to race it." Spike
So yesterday got this ridiculous note on our door, everyone else in the complex did too, I figured we'd get something this week because the complex next door had a fire over the weekend. But imo this goes to far. There's a few people that feed the stray cats and some that put bird feeders up. So in the note it said unless those people stop they will be charged a pet fee. It doesn't end there either. Grille's are now basically banned, they didn't go so far as to say that but you have to have the grill 10 feet from any structure now instead of on your patio. In the building I live in that basically means grilling in the middle of the parking lot. Here's the best one... All curtains have to be white, any other color and you will get a lease violation fine. That's funny because I went through the last lease we signed in February and there's not a thing about only having white curtains. This note was the last straw for our next door neighbor, she told us last night that she's breaking her lease and moving out as soon as she finds another place to live as I'm sure several others are also contemplating it. I'm hoping my wife heals up fast and gets back to work so we can get the heck out of here too as this is the last straw for me too. RogerDuke
Sounds like that place is being run by Boss Hogg or some third world dictator. I don't blame you for wanting out of there Spike. Skipper Duke and Hobie Hartkins 1
Spike
Certainly feels like it Roger. It's so ridiculous. And the motto on the sign at the end of the driveway is "Make it your Home" . I almost bought a bottle of Roundup last night to spray on our flower beds but the voice in me said no because gardening is one of my stress relievers. But if we get another note after I clean up the patio this weekend scorched earth is what they will get. Wonder how well it will go for the manager if they force the veteran to take his flag out of his window. Would love to be a fly on the wall if he chews out the manager lol. Also found out the reason for the notes. Some resident put nasty reviews about the complex on a bunch of sites last week complaining about almost everything the notes say need to change. It just takes one person to ruin it for everyone these days. Edited March 7 by Spike Skipper Duke, RogerDuke and Hobie Hartkins

That's true. Everything is racist. My niece (who is a person of color) works for a major university and was organizing a work related picnic and her boss told her the word picnic is racist and against university policy to use. I couldn't believe it but Googled it and found out she wasn't kidding. Speaking of violating policy, I'd better be careful. I think discussing the flag on the General is permitted but nothing else. I don't blame MM for that. These things can get ugly fast. Edited March 10 by RogerDuke Garrett Duke

The white race is in the cross hairs and set for extinction via genocide but no one cares! If it were blacks, Jews etc. oh no! but us....nah! It doesn't matter! Even white people! And that's the problem! How brainwashed and flat out stupid can people be.....? ....or should I say cowardly? It shows you how stupid people are! Here's something to blow away the B.S.! The word "picnic" does not have racist origins1234. The word "picnic" was originally a 17th Century French word, picque-nique, which meant a social gathering where each attendee brings a share of the food2. A popular but incorrect theory suggests that the word "picnic" has its roots in racism, referring to gatherings of people who watched public lynchings134. However, this theory is not supported by the word's etymology Garrett Duke
HossC
I'd never even heard that anyone thought picnic was a racist word. It appears that Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner Robert McKinzie made the claim in 2019 before it was subsequently debunked by professors of language and African-American history. Yet another case of someone jumping to conclusions without all the facts. At least Cadbury's won't have have to change the name of their chocolate bar on the this side of the Atlantic! Spike
It took 2 days but I got the flower bed and patio cleaned up and took down my bird feeders. Moron lawn crew blew a lot of leaves and debris into the patio, filled 2 garbage bags. I also ran into the veteran, actually a lady, I thought it was a guy that lived in that apartment. Chatted with her a few minutes about the new rules. She said she's going to keep feeding the cats, birds and keep the flag up in the window and if they push back she's going to bring up the maintenance issues she's been trying to get fixed the past few months. RogerDuke, Skipper Duke and Hobie Hartkins
Spike
So I ended up keeping one of the feeders and 2 of the shepherd hooks at home. We'll see what happens next week if they want to push the issue. I think instead of punishing everyone they should just let that one whiney baby out of her lease so she can go cry somewhere else. If I ever run into her on the property I'm going to give her a peice of my mind. Another thing in the note is "only minimal decorations allowed. No multi colored lights allowed only single colored solar lights," so basically no more putting Christmas lights up . Come Christmas time this is going to be a depressing looking complex, there's at least one person in every building that puts up lights and other Christmas decorations outside. Spike
I took the trash out yesterday and seen the maintenance guy took everything down, his bird feeders, yard decorations, shepherd hooks, heck even his patio table umbrella. His was the nicest looking flower bed space with all the little light house and other lake inspired decorations along with his feeders. Our next door neighbor told us today she found a place and is moving next weekend . I don't blame her as this is BS. I'm sure she won't be the only one breaking their lease and moving out. Boss JD Hogg
This is terrible. They are letting one resident who complained set the rules and the heck with all the other residents. People give love to animals and feed them and somehow that's wrong?! Not allowing Christmas Lights. It sounds like a dictatorship. I'm sorry to hear about this Spike. Spike
Not sure what changed or if he got permission but the maintenance guy at least put his big American flag back up, seen it when I came home and gave it a salute and a Oh Hell Yeah . I haven't seen the 2 kitty's that come to my patio for food the past few days though. Wife is healing good. Driving around now. Still has another month to go before getting Dr permission to return to work. However I'm bringing work home that's easy enough for her to do so she has something to do during the days. Can't wait for spring to feel like spring though, it is cold out today. Will probably lose some of my perennials that popped up early to the hard frost the next few nights.
