  1. I had a free hour this afternoon, so I mounted the pedals to the main frame. This process only took about an hour total, including drilling the holes, measuring everything up, and bolting everything together. Here's a shot of the a rear gear system I had lying around from one of my donor bikes. The chain is going to feed through this, and will also act as as a tension system. The only flaw in the slaw with all of the bikes is that they all only had one gear on the pedals. So I mounted this other cog from another bike I stripped. I know there's only one bolt on it in the picture, but the drills battery ran out before I could drill into the original cog. Hopefully I can spend Saturday afternoon working on it,and if I do I should hopefully get the frame and mechanics completed.
  2. Happy birthday Catherine Good luck in all your future projects
  3. Howdy welcome to HazzardNet!! Y'all may notice we do things a little different here You're not alone on being the only Dukes fan in your area. I thought I was but its amazing how many people remember Dukes of Hazzard, even if it is just for Daisy, Bo, Luke or the General Lee

    Daisy's Jeep

Nice jobs Hoss Now what about a Dixie recumbent? Haha
  5. The biggest bike I'm using has an 18 inch wheel (my General Lee has 26's) so I'm practically sitting on the ground. I've got a little bit of previous experience building and riding recumbents. Back in September I built one using my dads old (and very heavy) mountain bike and another (very heavy) mountain bike. With this one the pedal system was connected to the front wheel and forks,so I had to steer with my feet. This, combined with the overall weight (something like 5.5 stone, the average bike weighs under 2.5) made for a very hard to ride and dangerous bike. I ended up parting it out and scrapping the frames. However on the new bike, the pedals are independent from the steering, there's less metal hence less weight, and I'm making the new seat out of a wooden frame with a plastic office chair.
  6. Hey y'all It was suggested to me back in November that I call my white ladies racer Dixie. Somehow Dixie just didn't seem right for that bike. I recently got back into recumbent bikes. They're bikes that you sit back on and the pedals are infront of the handlebars. Unfortunately they are really expensive so I decided to build one myself. Here's a picture of what I'm basing mine on I started searching,an found someone selling three kids bikes for €20 total! The one on the left is going to supply the handlebars, pedals, front forks, chain and wheel. The middle one is going to be the main bike that I sit on. The one on the right is going to donate it's axles to help hold the forks of the black bike to the frame of the middle bike. So far I've managed to fit the forks into the seat post of the black bike. Unfortunately I can't do any cutting at the moment because I haven't got any cutting disks. Hopefully I can get a few this weekend. I'll post more pictures as I go along. My goal is to have it painted and ready to use by Easter. And I was thinking of going with the Dixie paint job for this bike, seen as I've already got a General Lee and Rosco bike
  7. I think with the selling of Lee 1 and the NASCAR rebel flag issues, the Dukes would have become slightly more popular. But as for people giving up the internet for lent? I don't know the religious status of the HNet members but I suppose they could be Christian and are observing lent. Maybe it's just a bad week Brian
  8. Hey y'all As some of y'all may know Dukes of Hazzard Stuntman Corey Eubanks has hit the big 50 today!! Doesn't seem like 30 years since we saw young adolescent Corey on the Dukes Happy birthday Corey!!
  9. Haha that's brilliant!! Now all they need to do is bring out a 1977 Monaco in the General Lee's coat
  10. Hi Brian :) I'm a big follower of the HNet Facebook page, and love the pictures you post with snappy comments and captions :) as today is ash Wednesday, and Christians are suppose to fast I came up with a picture idea.

There's a scene at the end of Cool Hands Bo and Luke (I can't be sure of the exact timing but it's in the last 5 minutes) and Lulu arrives at the jail to give Boss his food. She takes the lid off the plate to reveal a single lettuce leaf. I was thinking that it would be a good picture for the fb page, especially since it's meant to be a day of fast

  11. Pfft I already got this announcement via the HazzardNet app Thanks to Mufn,Brian and MaryAnne for creating the app,its now the 3rd most used app on my iPod (next to BrianColtrane's youtube and Facebook )
  12. Hey y'all I'm 17 soon, and in Ireland when you're 17 you're are able to apply for your driving test. I've driven quite a bit before in big parking lots and on a beach, and my parents seem confident that I can pass my test (I wish I could be as sure as them haha!) Unfortunately both my parents drive 2 litre cars, and rely on them to get them to and from work. The same make and model as my dads car The same make and model as my moms car. I was speaking to my parents the other night about borrowing their cars, and we struck up a deal. Because there cars have relatively big and thirsty engines, and only Boss Hogg would be able to afford to insure me with either of the cars, they said that if I can find a decent, safe, relatively cheap to buy,run and insure they would pay the insurance and 3/4s of the price, providing that I helped give people lifts to and from places. Ideally I would love to get a charger, but because they are unbelievably rare in Ireland and cost as much as NASA to run, I'm going to have to settle on a small, modest 1.5 liter or under hatchback. I wont get my full license until mid , so I have plenty of time left to find a small car. So far I have my heart set on two different cars. The VW Golf (or more commonly known as the Rabbit in America). This is one of my all time favorite cars. My dad bought one for my mom while she was pregnant with her first baby (me) and she reluctantly sold it in 2003 to trade it for her current car. She said it was the worst decision she ever made. Or a little Mini Cooper So just out of curiosity, what was your first car? And did anything from your past influence what car you bought? Or was it perhaps a childhood dream car? I just thought it would be an interesting topic
  13. "Beloved Pa,Grandpa,Brother and Boss" I think everyone can tell from that quote that Sorrell loved the role of Boss more than any other role he ever played. Random fact of the day : Did y'all know that during Dukes and even after Dukes, whenever Sorrell did personal appearances and signings he would go dressed as Boss Hogg and remain in character the whole time? If only he had survived colon cancer, maybe he could still be with us today. He would only be 82. Maybe if he was still around the reunion movies would've been a bigger success. Out of all the Duke actors Sorrell is the one I always wanted to work with. His on-the-spot ad-libs,method acting and comical nature both as Boss and Sorrell would have made him the one person I would want to work alongside with. R.I.P Sorrell, you will always be missed :'(
  14. This is taken from the Boars Nest parking lot. You can see the pole from the previous post to the left of the General Lee. The big barn that you see from time to time is out of frame, but is off to the left of the fencing and pole This is a wide shot of the area. You can make out the aforementioned barn in the background. See the vehicle in the background? To the right of it is the creek and road mentioned in the previous post Here's a shot taken from the right of the Boars Nest. You can see the aforementioned road and another long stretch of road. I'll cover that stretch in the next post.
  15. In these next few posts I'm going to focus on the area surrounding the Boars Nest (5) This first picture is taken from Happy Birthday General Lee. The cars are coming from the small barn area (4). The camera is set up roughly at the intersection of all the roads outside the Boars Nest. This picture was taken a few frames later. As you can tell, the camera is positioned in the ditch. See the hill in the background? That was where the Dukes left the General to go up to the bad guys hideout in Danger on the Hazzard Express This next picture was taken from A Baby For The Dukes (credit goes to Hoss for providing the caps) This is showing the opposite side of the creek,an area rarely seen for some reason. The pole that you see wasn't a prob. It was part of the electricity circuit on Valencia at the time of Dukes. It seems to end here, but perhaps it ended at the Boars Nest. Remember Valencia was an oil mine in the 1970's so the pole could be a leftover from that time. This is a shot of the end of the race. You can see the telephone in the right of the picture. It was the same one used in the previous picture. You can also just make out the Boars Nest. I'll cover the Boars Nest in greater detail in the next post
  16. The maps for Valencia could be very helpful,as it has become overgrown in the years since the Wayne Wooten deal. I don't know if you've been following my Valencia thread, but a tree fell down and blocked the road at the Boars Nest, and as a result the southern road and it's tributaries have practically disappeared. Have you tried to find Sorrell Booke's grave? I'm not sure exactly were he is buried but I think it's in Sherman Oaks.
  17. Awesome Brian now I'll have HNet wherever I go Thanks so much to Brian,Mufn, and MaryAnne
  18. Welcome to HazzardNet kc :) y'all may find we do things a little different here ;)

  19. That's one sweet bike Alex My birthdays coming up soon. I wonder if my parents would get me this... Hahaha
  20. Ok Hoss no problem. I'd be very surprised if you could find it,as it's probably been turned into a housing development.

  21. Hoss I have another challenge for you...

In the episode High Flying Dukes,Boss plants 500 acres with crops. The bad guys also use it as a landing strip for the stolen plane.

I've determined that it's not at Lyons Canyon Ranch, and was wondering if you could find where that location is.

I don't know if this is any help but it looks to be close to Lyons Canyon Ranch.

    Good Luck

  22. Hoss I think you're right. Although it's difficult to tell with the two different angles,I think the Jesse is standing roughly where the Ford is in the last picture. It never ceases to amaze me how one area can be made to look like a couple of different locations, with just a few different camera angles.
  23. Seen as I've already got a General Lee and Rosco bike, maybe you could do a Dixie bike!!
  24. Considering that I'm rarely without my iPod or some form of music player I sing practically anything I listen to. But some songs that I find myself frequently singing are -Hurt by Johnny Cash -I Could Love a Man Like That by Anita Cochran -Freebird,Was I Right or Wrong and Ballad of Curtis Loew by Lynyrd Skynyrd -Good Ol Boys by the legend Waylon Jennings -How Do You Like Me Now by Toby Keith -Brown Sugar and Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones -Paradise City,Knocking on Heavens Door and Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N' Roses Thats just a small taste of what I find myself singing. Don't criticize my music taste. It's what I like.
  25. Maybe this picture might show the damage a little better... Once again thanks a million Hoss for providing the decals HazzardNet would be lost without you!!
