  1. Countrygirl you're right and wrong. Firstly yes the junkyard owner say "beat up,black 68 coupe". But if you look at front quarter panel in this picture you can see the round hole where the 68 turning signal used to be. Therefore its possible that the wrecked black charger we see is indeed a 68. But why the director (Tom Wopat) didn't pick up on this bloopers is a mystery to me.
  2. I know that Carlos but I've used mahogany which is a hard wood. Sailing boats are made out of hardwoods, and so are floors, tables and benches. Hardwoods are very tough and durable so I should be ok. Thanks for your concern though.
  3. Here's a picture of the bike before I did any work to it. Note the distance from the pedals to the ground... And here's one taken after the blocks had been added. Look at the difference they make! I've yet to reconfigure the rear gears, but I'll probably screw them into the wood. Just to help give you an idea of how much I've raised the bike, look where the front brakes are in relation to the front wheel...
  4. Here are a couple of pictures of the blocks and how everything fits together. The bottom of the forks sit conveniently on the top of the blocks. It's almost like the company planned for such an eventuality I've taken advantage of the holes intended to hold a mudguard, and used them to put screws into. In doing this I've elimated the possibility of the blocks moving forwards or backwards. I drilled a second set of holes lower down in the wood to hold the axles. As you can see theres a little gap, I'll probably add washers to it to stop the wheel moving from side to side
  5. I got the wood blocks cut up today in my woodwork class. Its mahogany, which is a hardwood so it's really strong and tough. Here's a picture of the blocks. The two on the left are for the front wheel, they're about 6 inches long. The ones on the right are for the back wheel and they're about 7.5 inches long. I used two axles from these wheels to mount the blocks to the original frame. I found an eye bolt in my garage,so I used that on the fourth block. This is in case I need to tow someone or something I used the angle grinder to cut off the excess axle, and then grinded back the bolt and axle so the bolt can't come undone
  6. Hey y'all I haven't been feeling great today and had to go home from school early. I was ready to fall asleep until my head hit the pillow,at which point I was wide awake. After about half an hour of useless tossing and turning I gave up on sleep and began to doodle. Gradually the doodle grew until this appeared It's what I think of when someone mentions Dukes to me. I would have included the cast in the picture but I'm rubbish at drawing faces. Then I drew this Sorry for the blurriness but that's the best shots I could get
  7. I've done something I've never done before for one of these projects and drawn up a plan. I've decided to try and use mahogany for the lifters. I used it in my ski bike and it seems strong. The red circles are where the old wheels would have been, the orange squares are the wooden blocks are the new wheel positions. I'm planning to have 7 inch lift in the front and 8 inch lift in the back. The only problem I face now is that the wheels are to low for the brakes,so I've got to figure out a way of lowering the brakes. And finally I'm going to repaint and mount the bull bar from my General onto this bike.
  8. Hrm that's weird...is there anyway I could edit that post and put the picture back in? Or is it too late to do that?
  9. Hey y'all I've recently started watching Fall Guy, and developed an extreme love for the truck. For anyone who's unfamiliar with the show, here's a picture of the Goliath of a truck Look at it!! Its what all pickups should be like. Massive wheels and tires, roll bar, push bar and winch. Seen as I'm probably never going to be able to build one, I've done the next best thing and decided to build a bike version!! "oh no here we go again", I hear you say. I began searching for a decent donor on Wednesday, and by Friday had found one. I got it delivered earlier today. Heres a picture of it before I touched it. It's a top of the range off roading bike, costing several hundred dollars new. I managed to get a little bit off the price because of a few small faults. As it is it's a pretty good bike (much better than what I usually start off with) but it only has 7 inches of ground clearance at the pedals. So I've decided to raise the whole frame up about 7 inches. I used mahogany for the ski bike, so I might make a couple of risers out of mahogany and see how they work. Or I might get a small kids bike with the same sort of frame and swap out the front forks and rear dropouts of this bike with the kids bike. I'll post more pics as I go along, but don't expect the posts to be frequent, because I've got a lot of projects going on at the moment.
  10. Brian dyou think you could convince Boss to serve Guinness at the Boars Nest? If he does I'm claiming 50% of 50%
  11. Paper and tape aren't exactly famous for their waterproof qualities... The front forks which obtained most of the damage during filming. When I first left it outside, there was no rust or missing paint on any of the frame
  12. One more angle "But wait",I hear you cry,"in the first pictures you have three bikes and no you only have two. What happened to the little red bike??" Unfortunately that bike was beyond salvagable. I soaked all the bolts and stuff in oil but no luck. The rust was so bad that the saddle collapsed when I sat on it. I decided to turn it into modern art,by cutting it down the middle to make it look like it was emeded in the wall And finally... Anyone remember the post I left a few weeks about me making a mini Dukes movie? The final scene calls for Rosco's bike to crash off a cliff. Since filming that scene I've left the wrecked frame in my back yard. I had already stripped it of everything worth stripping before turning it into a Rosco replica, so it wasn't loosing me money by sitting around. I half forgot about it until today, and it seems the weather has taken it's toll on the bike
  13. Well today I finally got a couple of new cutting disks, and I managed to cut away all the excess frame Some of the excess frame left over
  14. Maybe not as disgusting but what about the massive bowl of ice cream that he had in Double Dukes?
  15. Another General Lee Roger? I dunno I didn't have any specific paint plans for this bike. I don't want to go to all the trouble of a complicated paint job because it's going to be stored outside, exposed to the elements and the paint could end up getting damaged or ruined. I was thinking of a simple cherry red paint job, maybe with silver handlebars and saddleposts. How does that sound?
  16. Sorry for the delay but here's a picture of the bike put together. It still needs brakes, gears, two new tires, two new saddles and a decent paintjob By the way Hoss I've only ever seen those circle bikes (don't know the proper name for them) in playgrounds. Its a shame it never featured on the Dukes. Could you imagine Boss and Rosco trying to chase after Bo and Luke on that? Hahaha As for the second picture, I saw one of them in New York, but instead of two seats the second seat was used to hold a guitar. I couldn't imagine it being very stable,it looks pretty top heavy.
  17. Haha nice one Hoss! I've seen a lot of those posters recently, a group of past pupils from my school set up a Facebook page to support our rugby team. It's called "Keep Calm You're a Budgie". Nobody's quite sure what it means but it's become a really common phrase in my school now. They're even selling tshirts with the slogan on them They're the latest trend in my school,it seems everyone is wearing one under their shirt
  18. Thanks for the birthday wishes K-Duke :)

  19. Thanks a million Hoss :)

  20. Thanks for the birthday wishes Hoss :) you sent the sheriff decals in PDF. whichever is easier but I'd prefere the later style decals that had Dixie written on the hood.

  21. Hi Hoss, how have you been keeping? I was wondering if you could email me the Dixie decals that you used in the Daisy's Jeep drawing. I'm building a bike and was planning on styling it like Dixie.

Go raibh maith agat a chara!!

  22. Believe it or not I do understand what you're saying. They're pretty common in Ireland as well.
  23. I found a second donor bike yesterday when i was walking my dog at a nearby river. It was missing most of the essentials, but I had replacement parts in the garage. I started work after I had my dinner at 6,and managed to get the whole thing assembled and even managed a short cycle before 8 o clock. Unfortunately however it was already getting dark at 6 when I started,so I didn't bother taking pictures. I'll try and get a few tomorrow. There's still work do be done. For example it has two flat tires,no gears or brakes, and i want to swap the front bikes suspension forks with another set I have in school. I haven't decided on a paint scheme yet,but I don't mind cycle around on a decrepit looking bike anyway. I've got into the habit of naming my bikes, and this one is no exception. I'm going to call this one Allan Junior,in memory of the late Allan Wyatt, who's memorial service was held yesterday in Malibu.
  24. Amazingly I rode one of these when I was in New York at Halloween. They handle like boats and the one we had weighed a ton, even without us on it. I probably do have all the parts, but the only problems I have are I don't gave a welder to put it all together, and I haven't got anywhere to store it You shouldn't have shown me that picture, because now I really want one haha
  25. Hey y'all My neighbours are moving to England in a month, and they were clearing out their garage today. As I was coming home from school I passed a dumpster outside their house, and saw a bike lying on top of a pile of junk. My family is good friends with theirs, but I asked them if I could have the bike before ai took it. It wasn't in brilliant shape,it's slightly scraped and rusty, but the gears and brakes don't work. At this point in my life I've riden every type of bike there is (including a unicycle). Well every type with the exception of a tandem bike. For those who don't know what a tandem bike is it's a bike that two people can ride at the same time Unfortunately I haven't got access to a welder,so I'm planning on finding another bike, and mount it to the rear of this bike using the front wheel of the second bike as the mount between the two bikes. Obviously I'd have to drill holes in the rear bikes steering to prevent fishtailing.
