  3. Hi Jen welcome to HazzardNet, y'all may notice we do things a little different here
  4. My favorite has to be in Cale Yardborough Comes To Hazzard. There's a scene in the Boars Nest where Bo and Luke bring Mr Garvey to talk to Cooter about repairing the turbo charger. Daisy's wearing the Daisy Dukes and a yellow tank top. I don't know why but for some reason I love that combination
  5. Hey y'all As I'm sure most of you know all about the Titanic, and what happened to her. Well I can't believe I'm saying this but it's been 100 years since the Titanic sank, along with the death of first, second, and third class citizens, along with most of the crew. I'd just like everyone to pause for a moment, and remember the 1514 unfortunate souls. Some of them could have been like you, beginning a holiday and looking forward to rest and relaxation. Or maybe they felt that their country had no more to offer, and were emigrating to start a new life. You don't have to have any sort of faith to do this, for instance I'm atheist and I'm still taking a minute out to remember the 1514 unfortunate souls. And just incase you're having a hard time imagining 1514 people gone, try to imagine everybody that you have ever known, or maybe possibly everyone from HNet (is there that many members?). I hope that helps. But seriously, let's all take a minute to remember the dead...
  6. The new rear end gives the bike about the same amount of lift as the old blocks did. Just to give you an idea of the height of the bike, I'm 6 foot tall and the saddle is level with my ribs... And for a visual comparison, check out the General's handlebars in relation to the Fall Guy's handlebars... Another thing I fitted was a rear rack I had lying around. Usually they can't be fitted to bikes of this kind because the rear suspension allows the rear wheel to move up and down, and mounting the rear rack would prohibit this from happening. However because of the new rear lifters, I can mount the rear rack and not worry about suspension issues. This picture gives you an idea of how the lifters were fitted, how they look, how the rear rack fits and how much ground clearance I have.
  7. This is when I first assembled it. You can see how bad the paint had gotten. Even as I was working on it, the paint was coming off in my hand. As with the original wooden blocks I'm taking advantage of the mounts intended for the wheel. I originally set out to cut off the excess and grind down the sharp edge, but I ended up sanding off most of the paint as well. I got a few funny looks as I went up and down my street. The only problems I have with this bike is that it takes a lot more power to start off and maintain any sort of speed. I told my dad this and he described it as fitting massive wheels to a car. Because of the extra weight starting off in first now seems like starting off in 2nd or 3rd...it made sense when he first explained it to me anyway haha
  8. I spoke with my dads friend today. He suggested that I cut the back off another bike and bolt it to the main bike. Luckily enough the 2nd unit Rosco bike was mostly damaged at the front, and the rear end remained practically unscathed. I cut the entire back section out earlier. The only problems that the rear end had was some flaked paint, but that doesn't matter because I'm going to eventually strip the paint off and repaint it.
  9. You mean this picture? It looks like it's from "My Son, Bo Hogg". The pushbar also bolted to the bumper on some cars. Bear in mind that the small pushbars were stock, and were designed for pickup trucks. And there wasn't anything to weld the pushbar to under the car. That's another reason why they switched to the wider pushbar, so they could weld them to the frame.
  10. I fitted the pushbar from my General Lee today. I'm not going to bother painting it until I have the mechanics finished. For some reason the rear blocks keep moving forward when I pedal, and as a result the wheel rubs off the frame. I tried to get a local mechanic to weld the back of another bike onto this bike, but he didn't think it would be strong enough and didn't want to get in trouble if i was cycling and crashed and got injured. Anyway for now here's a few pics of the pushbar mounted on the front of the bike.
  11. Happy birthday MaryAnne! Hope you had a great day
  12. '69 charger? Hoss the soundstage Lee was actually a '68 charger. You can see the point in the middle of the dash in some shots, indicating that it's a '68. I'm not sure if the soundstage Lee was the same throughout the series, but I wonder why it wasn't swapped out with a '69 during the Veluzat / WB switchover.
  13. Hey y'all I bought the Back To The Future box set on Sunday. My family are away down the country today, and I'm not feeling that great, so I decided to have a Back To The Future day. I wasn't around in the 80's, but I'm sure the idea of hoverboards and flying cars was very believable. Imagine what the world will be like in 30 years, in 2042!! I can easily imagine flying cars and hoverboards, especially since Doc and Marty have already been to 2015 and hoverboards and flying cars were common. So is everyone looking forward to converting their cars to flying mode? Or is everyone preparing for the end of the world in December?
  14. I just noticed this in the clip Brian uploaded to YouTube. The clip was taken from Carnival of Thrills Part 1 and is when Bo gets conned by Diane into doing the jump. Take a look at Diane's butt, is it just me or is that a mic box clipped onto her jeans?
  15. Hey y'all I had a bit of a Dukes day today. I watched mostly season 4 episodes. Amongst other episodes I watched "Sound of Music Hazzard Style","Dear Diary" and "Cletus Falls in Love". I don't know if this has been brought up before but did anyone notice the chase music at the start of "Dear Diary" and "Cletus Falls in Love" sounds really similar to "Object of My Affection" by Mickey Gilley at the start of "Sound of Music Hazzard Style"? Can anyone else hear the similarities or is it just me? In my opinion I think it's possible that Mickey Gilley recorded the "Object of My Affection" instrumental for the Dukes, especially since the episodes seemed to filmed so close together.
  16. And one more of part of the seat bracket I've got two weeks Easter holidays now,so hopefully I can get up to speed on all the different projects.
  17. I had some free time today so I did a little work on Dixie. I fitted the BMX handlebars, the back chain, and the support for the seat. You can see roughly how it will look when it's done. I finally finished drilling the holes for the new cog.
  18. I still haven't mounted the pushbar, there's a spacing issue that I've got to try and work out. In the meantime I've tied a rope onto the front suspension forks, using the hole that was originally intended to be for a light as an anchor point. Yes I'm aware that the rope is possibly the most unmanly color there is,but it was the only rope I had in the garage. When I lowered the back wheel I encountered a problem with the chain. Because the wheel was lowered, the chain has to stretch down, and unfortunately it rubs off the frame as it moves. To solve this I've taken a cog from a rear gear set and mounted it to frame. This prevents the chain from rubbing off the frame and also gives the chain a little tension.
  19. I cut up some longer blocks for the back today. The old ones were 8 inches. The new ones are 12 inches... Unfortunately they still move about when I'm pedaling,so I'll probably cut a grove into them that will hold them more securely to the frame. As a result of these new blocks the bike now has 14 inches of ground clearance. My next biggest bike only has about nine. Needless to say this will be a beast when it's done... A side shot of the two bikes. Look where the pedals are on the bike on the left in relation to the bike on the right...
  20. Today I tackled the brakes. At first I was uncertain about how to do this. It had to be strong and also had to be light. In the end I settled once more on mahogany blocks. I only need two this time, one for the front and one for the back. Unfortunately the original brakes that were on the bike wouldn't work because they had a different mounting system. Luckily though, the donor bike for my recumbent had the style of brakes I was looking for. Here's a picture of the blocks Here's one with the brakes mounted. These brakes are mounted to a long bolt which screws through a hole in the frame. This is where the original brakes were. I'm going to mount the blocks using these two mounts. And here's what the whole thing looked like fully assembled. It took about 20 minutes to strip the old brakes, drill the holes, fit the brakes, mount the blocks and wire the brakes.
  21. Welcome to HazzardNet CountryRebel :) y'all may notice we do things a little different here...

  22. Hang on guys is the quote not from Daisy's Song? I'm pretty sure Uncle Jesse says that to Bo,Luke and Daisy in the farmhouse kitchen before the scene with Bo and Luke tailing Daisy and Starr.
  23. Hey y'all This is something that has been bugging me for a while, and to be honest it's making me laugh at their ignorance and stupidity. For the record I just want to say that I am in no way a racist person, and despite people getting hot under the collar about the General Lee and the Dukes being a symbol of racism because it was set in the south and had a confederate flag on the General Lee. Gy Waldron himself said that he was worried about the all white population during the first season, so he wrote some of the bad guy and police roles for black people. The Dukes,at least in my opinion, is a show about family and right and wrong, where the good guys always win, nobody dies an the bad guys always lose. There was no hint of racism in the show (at least I couldn't find any) ,so why is the confederate flag now considered a symbol of racism?? As an Irish person I could play the same card that NAACP are playing with the English flag because of the plantations. But why don't I? Because I'm not a political correctness freak who believes everybody should be wrapped up in bubblewrap, safe from any possible harm or bad thing. What's your opinion on the confederate flag? Is NAACP being stupid, or do they have a point? And just incase anyone from NAACP happens to be reading this, and was responsible for the General Lee becoming a symbol of racism... YEEE-HAAWW!!!
  24. I considered building a KITT bike when I first got the front part of the tandem bike, but decided against it because the bike didn't seem to have any likeness to the trans am. I'm still on the lookout for a KITT or A-Team bike though, so don't give up hope yet...
