This exchange happens on the first test drive of their new car: Luke: We jumped a dang creek. Bo: Yeah. General Lee always was a cavalry man. Luke: We built more into this car than just plugs and pistons, I guess. Bo: Fighting spirit of the South. Come on, we got a race to run.

When the car is revealed in a flashback in 'Happy Birthday, General Lee', Cooter says "I'll tell you, Uncle Jesse couldn't have come up with a better name. After we put the rebel flag on and stuck that Dixie horn in, there couldn't have been nothing more appropriate than 'General Lee'." So Uncle Jesse came up with the name. Maybe there are more references in other episodes that other members can recall.

Bomber (The Vulcan was a delta-wing bomber operated by the RAF from the '50s to the '80s. I've stood underneath one in a museum, and they're pretty impressive) I believe that what we call scones are similar to your biscuits. Scones are denser with more fat and sugar than biscuits and often contain dried fruit. They're normally served with jam (jelly to you) and clotted cream. The inhabitants of Devon and Cornwall can't agree which should be put on first!

Over in F1 it was the Italian Grand Prix at the historic Monza circuit this weekend. The two championship-leading drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, crashed into each other halfway through the race, leaving McLaren to get their first 1-2 finish since 2012. Lewis said afterwards that the halo safety device above the cockpit had saved his life! Max was adjudged to be at fault, and gets a 3-place grid penalty at the next race. You can see the crash here.

cookies (I was going to put 'biscuits' because we have 'tea and biscuits', but I know that 'biscuits' are something different over there!) That would be an alien concept to the folks over here!

Honey According to the 2 bottles on my shelf, that's where they make JD! BTW. I'm currently fond of the honey variety, hence my connection.

Just before that, Rosco asks the kidnappers "Well, how much money do you want?". They reply "Nothing.", and he says "Well, I can raise that." -
Well remembered, Hobie. The closed captions actually leave out the "g", so it's Kissin' Cliff, but you'd never know that by listening. The boys were planning to double back on old Tar Road, but we all know what happened!

It's unusual that the weather was so bad that no racing could take place (F1 has had wet weather tires for years). The outcome on Sunday didn't satisfy anyone, and has been criticized by many drivers as points were awarded on a technicality even though no actual racing took place. F1 is on a tight schedule, often with races every week, a three-day race weekend and travel between countries in between. Having said that, the governing authorities are looking to change the rules so we don't get in this situation again, and looking at sorting out some sort of refund for the crowd. At least this race broke a 30-year-old record for the shortest race, so it's not a common problem!

The Belgian F1 Grand Prix turned out to be a bit of an anti-climax, but it did make history. They say that the location of the circuit gives it its own micro-climate, and today that meant rain! Because F1 can normally run in wet weather, they don't have the option to hold the race over to the Monday. The rule is normally that the race must be completed within three hours of the start time, including delays and stoppages. They rewrote the rules today to start the race three hours late. The drivers completed just over two laps behind the safety car before the race was red-flagged, and half points were awarded. The 2021 Belgian Grand Prix now becomes the shortest F1 race in history. Let's hope that the weather's better when they return to Zandvoort in the Netherlands next week for the first F1 race there since 1985.

The good weather's holding over here, so we took another trip to the seaside today. We started with a walk around the cliffs, and followed that with a few hours on a nice, quiet beach. I even had another little swim. We finished off the day going along the coast to a place called Youghal. It reminded me of Dukes, because it's pronounced "y'all".

Here's a little clip that I found on YouTube. It's not seen here, but instead of an old truck, they had a horse and cart. The first seasons were in black & white, but this is in color.

Just like Rick Hurst's show 'On The Rocks' was a remake of the British show 'Porridge', 'Sanford and Son' was a remake of the British show 'Steptoe and Son'. I've only ever seen a few episodes of 'Sanford and Son', but it was enough to tell me that it was quite different to the British show. Have you seen any episodes of 'Steptoe and Son'?

That sounds like 'Return of the Ridge Raiders' in season 2.

Dukes of Hazzard titles in other countries
HossC replied to Skipper Duke's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
We have a pretty good list of the titles and DVD covers from other countries in our Logos The Dukes of Hazzard International thread. It also includes the French and Italian theme tunes. -
A small F1 excursion here. This weekend the Grand Prix is at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium - a favorite track of mine and many of the drivers. In free practice earlier today, Fernando Alonso (back in F1 after racing in the Indy 500 and Le Mans over the last few years) had a helmet camera to give a driver's eye view of the track. I'm prevented from embedding the video, but you can see it on YouTube.

I'm surprised you never got yourself a mule to help look after your back 40, Roger.

We had sunny weather here today, so we set off for the beach. Despite the water still being a bit cold, I had a quick swim in the sea for the first time in years. We then went along the coast to a very picturesque village with a working harbor for some very fresh fish and chips!

Hughie Hogg's VW Beetle -- Work In Progress

As with your previous builds, I'll be avidly waiting for updates, and I'm already looking forward to seeing the finished model. -
IMDb says that Alan Hale Jr. died in 1990. The 1987 episode of Alf was among his last acting roles.
