I can't find any other mentions of Salt Walther on HNet. According to Wikipedia, he also raced unlimited hydroplane boats. It looks like his 1979 appearances in 'The Dukes of Hazzard' and 'The Rockford Files' were his only acting credits. Following the crash, Walther apparently became addicted to pain killers, and despite a few comeback attempts, his later life included a few drug convictions and jail time. His death at the age of 65 was the result of a drug overdose. Here's a video about the crash.

I saw this on the news yesterday, and of course it reminded me of Dukes, especially as it took place in Georgia. The car hit the tow truck ramp at full speed and flew 120 feet (36.5 m). The 21-year-old female driver from Tallahassee survived, but is in hospital. It shows how you must always pay attention when driving.

Monaco is one of the most famous races on the F1 calendar with the cars driving around the narrow historic streets of the principality. After an early crash in qualifying, Red Bull's Sergio Perez started from the back, while his team mate, Max Verstappen, started on pole. Monaco is a track where overtaking is virtually impossible, but some did take place in the midfield and towards the back. There were also some exciting moments when rain started falling about 2/3 of the way through the race. Some drivers pitted early for intermediate tires while others staying out on slicks. Surprisingly, there were no big crashes and no safety cars. In the end, Max Verstappen led the whole race to take another victory, despite clipping the barriers a couple of times along the way. Sergio Perez only made it up to 16th, so the top four places were filled by four different manufacturers: Red Bull, Aston Martin, Alpine and Mercedes. It was a great result for Fernando Alonso (2nd) and Esteban Ocon (3rd). Lewis Hamilton (4th) was driving an upgraded car, but Monaco isn't a representative track, and the rain also confused the issue, so whether it's the step forward they were hoping for will be revealed next week in Spain. Aston Martin and Mercedes are now only a point apart in 2nd and 3rd, but Red Bull have more points than both of them together.

It's part of a scene from about halfway through 'Sittin' Dukes' in season 7. Here's the full scene: Sheriff Little is interrogating Jesse and Daisy with Boss and Rosco watching. Sheriff Little: Who put you up to driving that truck? Daisy: Them escaped convicts, that's who. Jesse: And nobody put us up to it. They made us do it. Just like they made Bo and Luke drive that car. Rosco: Oh, tish, tush, tiddly-walker. Are you trying to tell me that Luke Duke did not know this Benson fella in the Marine Corps? Daisy: Well, sure they were in the Marines together, Rosco. Jesse: But they weren't buddies. As a matter of fact, Luke sent that Benson fella to the brig. Rosco: Oh, baloney. Boss: Bologna. Did you say bologna? Rosco: Yes, I said, baloney. Boss: Where is it? Rosco: Oh, these Dukes are dishing out the baloney. Sheriff Little: Are you two gonna talk or am I gonna have to spend the rest of the day grilling you, huh? Boss: Wait, please don't use that word, "grill". It reminds me of hamburgers, frankfurters and barbeques. Rosco: Ahh. Boss: Listen, I got an idea. Why don't we just break for lunch? Sheriff Little: [To Boss and Rosco] You two ain't going nowhere. [Turning to Jesse and Daisy] Neither are these two, until you talk. Now, I've cracked some hard-boiled eggs before. Boss: Hard-boiled eggs. Daisy: Will y'all just stop fishing around and try and help Bo and Luke? Boss: Fish. I can't stand it anymore. I gotta have something to eat. Give me something to eat. Anything. I'll eat anything. Anything. Give me something to eat. Boss then runs out to try and take the dog biscuit that Enos is feeding to Flash. -

That's fair enough. The real cars had several hundred pounds of ballast in their trunks to make them land flat. They also used to crank up the front suspension, but I don't know if that would make any difference or even be possible on RC cars.

Jeeter's blacksmith shop was on Laramie Street. I did a roundup of Laramie Street on page 11 of this thread.

There's a shot of stars in 'Strange Visitor to Hazzard' when their Little Cousin goes home, but it's stock footage, so I don't know if that counts.

"River Pines. A lot of musicians live there." The real address is apparently The Park at Edinburgh Apartments, 299 Meadowood Drive, Lithonia, GA. It appears to be part of a gated community, so the Google Streetview car hasn't been past.

I posted eight screengrabs from 'The Shootist' back on page 7 of this thread. Here's the one showing the livery stables. Mark B even included a homage to 'The Shootist' in his model of Cooter's Garage.

The area apparently had six months' rain in 36 hours, and the death toll has now risen to 13. F1 has announced that they will donate €1 million (approx. $1,080,000) to the relief effort. This comes a day after Ferrari, whose factory is in the region, also pledged €1 million. F1 president and former Ferrari F1 team principal Stefano Domenicali is from Imola, which was to have hosted this weekend's Grand Prix.

Well remembered, Burl. I've lightened the screengrabs below to make the cat clearer. As he grabs the cat, the bad guy says, "Well, kitty, whoever they were, they didn't get nothing." There's a great line just before this when Bo and Luke are hiding: Bad guy: Now, I'm gonna count to three. If you don't come out, I'm gonna shoot. One. Two. Balladeer: Y'all cheer up. He looks like he don't know what number comes next.
