After a couple of rain-affected practice sessions, we've got an interesting grid for today's Canadian Grand Prix. Qualifying was dry, but the track was still "green" after the rain, so grip gradually increased as it rubbered in. For the second race in a row, Red Bull's Sergio Perez went out in the first session and will start in 16th place. Maybe the biggest shock was both Ferraris going out in the second session - they'll start 11th and 12th. At the start of the final session it was the Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton setting the pace. Neither improved on their second runs, but other drivers did. Red Bull's Max Verstappen's second run achieved exactly the same time as George Russell - 1:12.000 - only the second time in F1 history that the same time has been set for pole. By the rules, the driver who set the time first starts ahead, so George Russell gets pole for the second time in his F1 career. Lewis Hamilton was less than three tenths behind, but starts seventh.

I never knew Parnelli Jones' racing career, but I remember him playing himself in the original 'Gone in 60 Seconds'. One of the cars they had to steal was Parnelli Jones' Big Oly Bronco.

  12. If you have to quote whole scenes, put them in the favorite scenes thread, but ask yourself if people want to read a whole scene. Also, you have a habit of leaving bits out without saying you've omitted anything, so it might be better to stick to the short, snappy quotes as it takes me less time to check/correct them!

Due to satellite bookings and worldwide TV schedules, F1 races now have a time frame in which they must be completed, so there are no indefinite delays or carry overs until Monday. Also, the teams are often already packing up their gear while the Champagne is flowing because they have to fly halfway around the world for the next race.

Today's Monaco Grand Prix ended up as a pretty dull procession. Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc took pole position at his home race, with championship leader Max Verstappen only able to qualify sixth. Max's team mate, Sergio Perez, was knocked out in the first qualifying session, but started in 16th after the two Haas cars were moved to the back of the grid due to a technical penalty. The two Haas cars and the Red Bull of Perez were all involved in a crash on the first lap which brought out a red flag. Alpine's Esteban Ocon was also out on the first lap after a collision with his team mate, Pierre Gasly. Since the red flag allowed all the teams to make their mandatory tire change, most of the race was just about tire management as none of the leaders needed to build a gap for a pit stop. Further down the field there were a few gaps and pit stops, but for the first time I can remember, the top ten finished in the same order they started. Charles Leclerc won his first Monaco Grand Prix for Ferrari with his team mate Carlos Sainz Jr in third. Splitting them was McLaren's Oscar Piastri in second. Off of the podium were McLaren's Lando Norris in fourth, Mercedes' George Russell and Lewis Hamilton in fifth and seventh, and Red Bull's Max Verstappen in sixth. Carlos Sainz Jr was probably the luckiest driver after a small coming together at the start took him out with a puncture on the first lap, but he was allowed to take the restart in third (his original starting position). Monaco is a unique track on the F1 calendar with its tight, historic street circuit, but pit stops, crashes and weather usually give us a more exiting race. Let's hope that the Canadian Grand Prix in two weeks will give us more entertainment and maybe even another different winner. You can watch the highlights here.

  21. There was more than one Clyde in the show, but you're probably talking about Clyde the impound yard guard played by Ernie Lively in 'The Ransom of Hazzard County'. Ernie appeared in five episodes, and was the real life FATHER of Jason Lively, who appeared in two episodes.
  22. That's what we're here for. BTW. Your first three posts are moderated, so only one more until you can post freely (although I'll still be making sure you don't post anything inappropriate!).
  23. Welcome to HNet, bodukegirly. The episode you're talking about is 'Pin the Tail on the Dukes' in season 4. The scene is just over half an hour in, and goes like this: Waylon: Along about this time, a truck was heading through Hazzard for the first time. That driver didn't have a clue about Hazzard's driving conditions. Bo: Hang on, Hector. Here we go again. (They swerve the first truck) Luke: Phew! That was close. Bo: Bo Duke, you are too much. (Luke spots the second truck) Luke: Bo. Bo: What? Luke: Bo! Bo: Oh, my gosh. Hang on. Waylon: I'm hanging. (They swerve the second truck) Luke: How do you do that twice? Bo: There's only two trucks in Hazzard, right?
  24. Armor In your discussion above, I think you guys are mixing up DEI meanings. It means both Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Dale Earnhardt, Inc.
  25. Skipper, you need to ease off with the quotes again. This is not Facebook, it's an interactive forum, and there's very little chance for interaction when you make seven lengthy posts one after the other in a 15 minute period. I've said it before, but I obviously need to repeat it: quotes should be just that - quotes - whether they're memorable or funny. Some of these are entire scenes that don't strike me as either. If you're going to post quotes, stick to simple ones like the one with Rosco and his crossword. Your accuracy has gone up a bit, but you're still missing words here and there, and mishearing words, e.g. in 'Repo Men' Boss says "namely me, can be cursed, sassed, and crossed" , not "Namely me can be cut sassed an' crossed!". In your last quote (the one from 'Coy Meets Girl'), you omitted nearly 40 seconds of dialogue between Boss and Rosco in the middle of the scene without mentioning it. If you want guidelines for quotes, look at the ones posted on IMDb. Not many are more than a few lines long. Also, stick to short names preceding the dialogue: "Boss" or "Boss Hogg" is fine, you don't need "Boss Jefferson Davis Hogg". Maybe you're copying them from different sources. If it's a guest character, use their full name on their first line, and then shorten it.
