  1. Country singer Toby Keith has passed away at the age of 62. He had been diagnosed with stomach cancer back in 2022. For Dukes fans, he was also appeared as himself in the 2000 TV movie "The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood".
  2. There is nearly 17 years between the ages of Les Tremayne and Sorrell Booke, so on paper the relationship is just about possible, but I'll agree that the gap looks less. Memorably, Sean Connery played Harrison Ford's father in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' despite there being slightly less than 12 years between them, but somehow that relationship seemed more believable. I'm sure there are many more examples. Incidentally, I've just realized that Sorrell Booke and Sean Connery were both born in 1930, but I can't imagine them swapping roles! Regarding Big Daddy and Boss' momma, as the show went on, I don't think much emphasis was placed on a sticking to a consistent backstory or canon. This obviously went completely out of the window in the 2007 movie when they find the car that would become the General Lee at the bottom of a lake, ignoring the storyline of 'Happy Birthday, General Lee'.
  3. Michele GREENE Played Bobby Lee in 'Coy Meets Girl'.
  4. According to IMDb, Michele Greene was born in 1962, so she was only 19 or 20 when she filmed this episode. It's not unusual to use older actors. From that era, John Travolta was 23 and Olivia Newton-John was 28/29 when they played 18-year-olds in 'Grease' and Michael J Fox was around 24 when he played 17-year-old Marty McFly in 'Back to the Future'. When I get a chance to watch Dukes (it's been a while now), I watch through all the episodes in order. It's always a bit jarring when Coy and Vance appear, but after a few episodes I just take it as a parallel storyline. I'm normally just about getting used to Coy and Vance when they leave.

Breaking news in F1 - Lewis Hamilton is moving from Mercedes to Ferrari at the end of this season. He recently signed a two-year contract with Mercedes, but he's activated a clause to leave after one. The seven-time World Champion has driven Mercedes-powered cars throughout his F1 career and has been associated with the brand since he was 13. At Ferrari, Lewis will partner Charles Leclerc, with current Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz leaving the team. The full story is here.
  6. March 3rd. There's a thread about the 40th anniversary here.
  7. I ended up watching the first three episodes of Dukes just over a week ago, completely forgetting that the anniversary was coming. In my defense, the UK anniversary isn't until March!

    NASCAR news

We have to wait until February 29th for the start of the F1 season. I don't remember any previous Grands Prix being on a Saturday (they're always on a Sunday unless they're cancelled - there are no delayed races like there are in NASCAR), but the first two of this season, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, are on a Saturday this season due to Ramadan. We also get 24 races 2024 - the most ever. I just hope that the other teams have caught up with Red Bull over the winter so we get some racing this year!

  13. Well, Skipper, you didn't stick to either of these pledges, and you've stated the new year by screwing up yet another quote by missing out several lines in the middle without any reason or mention of the omission. Here's the full dialogue: Coy: "Rosco's driving like a man possessed." Vance: "Well, put it to the floor, cuz. We gotta catch him. I think we got our work cut out for us, partner. Hey, Rosco, pull over will you. We wanna talk to you." Rosco: "Just get back there. Get...get...Don't get so close. All right, you two, get back to the farm. You're under arrest. I said don't...Now, I'm serious." Waylon: "The boys better not have any more spinouts... or they'll never catch Rosco." Coy: "Capitol City. I think we lost this one, Vance." Vance: "No, we didn't. There's Rosco." This thread should not be a repository for random bits of dialogue from the show - it should be for funny or memorable quotes. Also, as everyone else and I have told you, a quote is not a quote if it's not correct. I am fed up with having to tell you this and to correct you. I would suggest that you keep the quotes to Facebook as you promised to do. From now on, I'll just be deleting inaccurate quotes as it takes too much of my time to put them right!

Cale was on two - 'Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough' and 'Cale Yarborough Comes to Hazzard'. Very sad to hear of his death. I read this just after seeing that former Indianapolis 500 winner Gil de Ferran passed away on Friday at just 56. He suffered a heart attack at a private motor racing club in Opa-locka, Florida. https://www.bbc.com/sport/motorsport/67847162
  15. I don't know if it was the same in the US, but a lot of people here were commenting that it didn't feel much like Christmas, even in the final run-up last week (even with the constant Christmas music!). Maybe it's because most people had a full working week up until the December 22nd. Despite this, everyone I know seems to have had an enjoyable Christmas when it finally came. I hope the same is true for y'all. New Year's only two hours away here, but I'm not sure I have the energy to stay up until midnight. Happy New Year to all on HazzardNet.
  16. Happy Birthday, MeadowMufn. I hope we get to see more of you in 2024.
  17. I can't imagine a remake of Dukes being made anytime soon, no matter who's in it. I'd certainly be in favor of any new show/movie with female leads and a decent script. I hope we've come to an end of the fad for remaking male led movies with a female cast. To me, that just says, "We couldn't think of any good ideas for original movies with women, so we'll rehash one with men and hope for the best!".
  18. I saw this yesterday and wasn't sure whether to post it. Hobie did the right thing by just posting the headline. The full story is on many sites - the UK newspaper The Guardian came up first in my search: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/dec/21/dukes-hazzard-actor-john-schneider-biden-execution Just remember to keep politics out of any comments you may have.
  19. I like to see a good mixture of male/female ratios across TV shows. Some environments are predominantly biased to towards a single gender, so it wouldn't reflect reality if we try to keep them all even. Two of my favorite British sitcoms are 'Porridge' and 'dinnerladies'. The former is set in a male prison, which doesn't give the opportunity for many female roles. The latter is set in a factory cafeteria where seven of the nine main actors are female (including the one who also wrote the show). Others I like may have a male or female in the lead role with a mixed supporting cast. So long as there's a good variety across the shows, I'm fine with that.
  20. The actress was Lori Lethin who played Lori in 'Southern Comfurts'. Her line was, "Yeah, but necessity's the mother of intervention, ain't she?"
  21. "You're a regular P.T. BARNUM and BAILEY." Rosco when Boss announces plans to make money from Rock Marlowe's trial in 'Deputy Dukes'.
  22. The downloads section on the home page seems to have gone missing, but I found a TrueType version of Hobo font at the link below: https://www.ffonts.net/Hobo.font.download Just google "hobo font free" if that doesn't work for you.
  23. Once again, four posts when one would do! You're just not getting it. Stop with the superfluous comments, collect your thoughts and only post when absolutely necessary. I now consider this discussion closed because it has already taken up far too much of my valuable spare time in a busy week. This post does not require a reply or comment. Take a couple of days off without posting anything, and come back refreshed with a better understanding of how forums work. I didn't want it to come to this, but I will delete anything you post in the next 48 hours as you have monopolized the forum long enough. I also do not expect any private messages from you during this time - the one you sent while I was writing this was completely pointless as it just says the same as your last post (and fills up my email inbox).
  24. And you still carry on with the inaccuracies, Skipper! B.B. Bascomb: "People, people, you already have the money. I'm B.B. Bascomb, music promoter extraordinaire." Rosco: "Ezra, is this your shill?" Ezra Bushmaster: "Thought he was yours." You obviously didn't comprehend the scene if you thought Rosco said "shell" - it makes no sense. Seeing as you won't have time to look up "shill", here's the definition: informal•North American noun noun: shill; plural noun: shills an accomplice of a confidence trickster or swindler who poses as a genuine customer to entice or encourage others. Skipper, please stop posting any so-called quotes until you're prepared to put in the time needed to check and understand them. Sorry if I'm starting to sound a bit terse, but as a moderator I can't just ignore this like other members are able to do, and you're currently taking up about 99% of my time on here as opposed to 1% for everyone else put together!
  25. Right, Skipper, let's get some things straight. Firstly you need to calm down and stop over-reacting. You posted several times last night that you were leaving even though no one asked you to, you posted three or four questions to me and sent me a similar number of private messages despite the fact that it was night-time where I live and I was asleep! I will repeat this mantra - HazzardNet is a forum, not Facebook. Please don't post something just because it pops into your head and then your next thought five minutes later and repeat ad nauseum. Consider your posts and think whether they're worthwhile. As a moderator, I try to read all the new posts, and at moment about three quarters of them are yours. Many times you make multiple posts one after the other when a single, well thought out post would have been much better. In the end you're spreading out the interesting stuff and diluting the content. Being a forum, HazzardNet is about discussion, but you've been starting numerous off-topic threads lately (mainly about movies) and then flooding them with posts even though no one else has shown any interest in the subject. An interaction takes two sides. HazzardNet is not your personal space to post everything you know about a movie or TV show. Either keep that to Facebook or start your own website. As Boss JD Hogg says above, "If you're posting a quote that's not accurate then it's not actually a quote from the show. Why bother if it's not an accurate quote." If you don't think it's worth digging out your DVDs to check them, then it's not worth posting. The fact that you couldn't spend less than 30 seconds googling "draconian" proves that you don't spend much time researching your posts. The quotes should be short one-liners or interactions that are funny and/or memorable - the sort of thing you'd tell a friend. Anything longer is just an excerpt of the script. For the time being, why not try what Roger suggested and "take a day or 2 to cool off". After that, forget about posting in all your off-topic threads unless other members show an interest. Put more time and thought into the posts you do make, and maybe limit yourself to five considered posts a day across the whole forum. Concentrate on quality over quantity!
