All G8s were made in Australia (Elizabeth, South Australia to be precise) by Holden (Australia's arm of GM). They put a different grille on a Holden Commodore and called it a Pontiac.
-
Australia The Pontiac G8 is a rebadged Holden Commodore (still looks like a great car). BTW. Spike, why do college girls drink gas on spring break?

It sounds like Dale Earnhardt Sr's death affected NASCAR in a similar way to which Ayrton Senna's death at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix affected F1. I still remember watching that race live even though it'll be the 30th anniversary later this year. BTW, Dale Earnhardt Sr passed away in 2001, so tomorrow is 23 years since his death.

FWIW, you've posted "Sleepy CITY" three times including last night and "SLEEPY City" four times in the A-Z game. You also mentioned "Sleepy City" in another reply. The search feature on HNet works pretty well and it only takes seconds if you want to check. While you're viewing a thread it'll default to only searching that thread, so you don't get results from the whole site (unless you want to).

Didn't Jesse have a 1970 F-100 in 'High Octane'? They could've used that if they'd wanted.

I wouldn't be surprised if Garrett made this meme.

Country singer Toby Keith has passed away at the age of 62. He had been diagnosed with stomach cancer back in 2022. For Dukes fans, he was also appeared as himself in the 2000 TV movie "The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood".

There is nearly 17 years between the ages of Les Tremayne and Sorrell Booke, so on paper the relationship is just about possible, but I'll agree that the gap looks less. Memorably, Sean Connery played Harrison Ford's father in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' despite there being slightly less than 12 years between them, but somehow that relationship seemed more believable. I'm sure there are many more examples. Incidentally, I've just realized that Sorrell Booke and Sean Connery were both born in 1930, but I can't imagine them swapping roles! Regarding Big Daddy and Boss' momma, as the show went on, I don't think much emphasis was placed on a sticking to a consistent backstory or canon. This obviously went completely out of the window in the 2007 movie when they find the car that would become the General Lee at the bottom of a lake, ignoring the storyline of 'Happy Birthday, General Lee'.

Michele GREENE Played Bobby Lee in 'Coy Meets Girl'.
-
According to IMDb, Michele Greene was born in 1962, so she was only 19 or 20 when she filmed this episode. It's not unusual to use older actors. From that era, John Travolta was 23 and Olivia Newton-John was 28/29 when they played 18-year-olds in 'Grease' and Michael J Fox was around 24 when he played 17-year-old Marty McFly in 'Back to the Future'. When I get a chance to watch Dukes (it's been a while now), I watch through all the episodes in order. It's always a bit jarring when Coy and Vance appear, but after a few episodes I just take it as a parallel storyline. I'm normally just about getting used to Coy and Vance when they leave.

Breaking news in F1 - Lewis Hamilton is moving from Mercedes to Ferrari at the end of this season. He recently signed a two-year contract with Mercedes, but he's activated a clause to leave after one. The seven-time World Champion has driven Mercedes-powered cars throughout his F1 career and has been associated with the brand since he was 13. At Ferrari, Lewis will partner Charles Leclerc, with current Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz leaving the team. The full story is here.

We have to wait until February 29th for the start of the F1 season. I don't remember any previous Grands Prix being on a Saturday (they're always on a Sunday unless they're cancelled - there are no delayed races like there are in NASCAR), but the first two of this season, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, are on a Saturday this season due to Ramadan. We also get 24 races 2024 - the most ever. I just hope that the other teams have caught up with Red Bull over the winter so we get some racing this year!

quotes Favorite Dukes of Hazzard Quotes
HossC replied to Skipper Duke's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
Well, Skipper, you didn't stick to either of these pledges, and you've stated the new year by screwing up yet another quote by missing out several lines in the middle without any reason or mention of the omission. Here's the full dialogue: Coy: "Rosco's driving like a man possessed." Vance: "Well, put it to the floor, cuz. We gotta catch him. I think we got our work cut out for us, partner. Hey, Rosco, pull over will you. We wanna talk to you." Rosco: "Just get back there. Get...get...Don't get so close. All right, you two, get back to the farm. You're under arrest. I said don't...Now, I'm serious." Waylon: "The boys better not have any more spinouts... or they'll never catch Rosco." Coy: "Capitol City. I think we lost this one, Vance." Vance: "No, we didn't. There's Rosco." This thread should not be a repository for random bits of dialogue from the show - it should be for funny or memorable quotes. Also, as everyone else and I have told you, a quote is not a quote if it's not correct. I am fed up with having to tell you this and to correct you. I would suggest that you keep the quotes to Facebook as you promised to do. From now on, I'll just be deleting inaccurate quotes as it takes too much of my time to put them right! -
Cale was on two - 'Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough' and 'Cale Yarborough Comes to Hazzard'. Very sad to hear of his death. I read this just after seeing that former Indianapolis 500 winner Gil de Ferran passed away on Friday at just 56. He suffered a heart attack at a private motor racing club in Opa-locka, Florida. https://www.bbc.com/sport/motorsport/67847162

I don't know if it was the same in the US, but a lot of people here were commenting that it didn't feel much like Christmas, even in the final run-up last week (even with the constant Christmas music!). Maybe it's because most people had a full working week up until the December 22nd. Despite this, everyone I know seems to have had an enjoyable Christmas when it finally came. I hope the same is true for y'all. New Year's only two hours away here, but I'm not sure I have the energy to stay up until midnight. Happy New Year to all on HazzardNet.

Happy Birthday, MeadowMufn. I hope we get to see more of you in 2024.

Lack Of Female Main Characters
HossC replied to ralmcg's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
I can't imagine a remake of Dukes being made anytime soon, no matter who's in it. I'd certainly be in favor of any new show/movie with female leads and a decent script. I hope we've come to an end of the fad for remaking male led movies with a female cast. To me, that just says, "We couldn't think of any good ideas for original movies with women, so we'll rehash one with men and hope for the best!". -
John Scheider In Trouble Again
HossC replied to Hobie Hartkins's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
I saw this yesterday and wasn't sure whether to post it. Hobie did the right thing by just posting the headline. The full story is on many sites - the UK newspaper The Guardian came up first in my search: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/dec/21/dukes-hazzard-actor-john-schneider-biden-execution Just remember to keep politics out of any comments you may have.
