  1. I was going to start this thread myself, but waikiki beat me to it (news hadn't broken when I went to bed last night). Leslie was responsible for delivering some of the funniest lines in TV/movie history: All-time classic from Airplane I also saw him just last week in a re-run of M*A*S*H. He played the over-zealous Col. Buzz Brighton in The Ringbanger (S1E16). Even though his was a fairly straight part, you could still see some of the trademark facial expressions that we all came to know and love. RIP Leslie.
  2. Well done everyone - I thought I keep it easy for Thanksgiving . Also I'd like to thank y'all for the birthday wishes. Q. In 'Witness for the Persecution', who or what does Waylon describe as 'something that was as rare as a mule with feathers'?.

    One Word Song Titles

Or you could have Weird Al's parody, . Most of the movie in a 2 minute song .
  6. MC Roger in tha house. I do listen to some rap/hip-hip, but I'd never come across this duo. dates back to 1992. One of the emcees, Skoob (aka Books) is celebrating his 40th birthday today, 27/11/10 - talk about starting a trend .The lyric is: With a yippedy zippedy Winnie the Pooh bad boy blue Yo crazy got the gusto, what up, I swing that too So nincompoop give a hoot and stomp a troop without a strain Like Roscoe B. Coltrane [sic] They sure don't write 'em like they used to. Rosco also gets a mention in the Westwood Freestyle 2010 event with Eminem featuring Mr. Porter and Royce da 5'9". It is on YouTube, but I'm not linking to it due to the bad language - who'd have thought it, bad language in a rap song . Of course the recent single by Katy Perry features rapper Snoop Dogg and includes a Dukes reference in the chorus:California girls We're unforgettable Daisy Dukes Bikinis on top I'd sit down before you watch the video, Roger - I don't want your wife blaming me for your heart attack . So Roger, I hope you have fun this weekend, tinting your pickup windows, fitting over-sized rims with spinners and draping yourself in bling. Be sure to post the photos .
  7. Can you narrow it down a bit - is this from one of the TV shows?.
  8. Roger, you nearly had me stumped with this one. Then the mail arrived this morning, and the cards were all bearing the same suspiciously high number on the front of them . We don't have Thanksgiving in Ireland, but it's nice to know that y'all get a day off to celebrate my birthday - Happy Thanksgiving to all of you that are celebrating today. Waikiki got the answer to my question correct. You did better than Rick, who remembered his name as Andrew Johnson when he told the story at the 20th Anniversary Barbeque (season 1 DVD extra). Apparently Andrew Robinson received death threats after playing the Scorpio killer in Dirty Harry (one of my favorite movies). He obviously didn't have the same trouble with Dukes because after playing Billy Joe in 'The Hazzardville Horror', he returned 2 years later to play Pruitt in 'The Treasure if Soggy Marsh' (the Japanese story must relate to his first appearance, because Rick wasn't in the second). I keep it simple today, because most of y'all are probably stuffed with turkey by now . Q. What links Ms. Mabel, Wendel & Irving, and Homer Willis?.

    Commercials

I never know whether commercials for global brands are seen around the world, or just certain areas. Either way, here's a few more memorable commercials from a few years ago: First a commercial for Miller Genuine Draft filmed in San Francisco. Simple idea, but very effective: Miller - Downhill Another commercial filmed in San Francisco was for Sony BRAVIA. This is not CGI - 250,000 real balls were released down the streets: This was parodied by soft drinks company Tango - this time filmed on the streets of Swansea, South Wales: Sony also filmed a BRAVIA commercial in Glasgow, Scotland. This one involved loads of paint exploding over various buildings. All the paint was environmentally friendly and, if I recall correctly, the buildings were due to be demolished: YouTube also has 'making of' videos for both of the Sony commercials if anyone's interested.
  10. Well Garrett, I watched the highlights today, and don't have a lot to add to what you're already written. I wasn't watching Hamlin's crash close enough to decide whose fault it was. As for Kyle Busch, he seemed to take ages to stop his car while his pit crew were yelling at him to get out because it was on fire. With the hurt pit crew member, I only get the highlights, so maybe they didn't consider it worthy of more coverage, but it sounds like they didn't give any more time in the uncut version. In the BBC's F1 coverage (and ITV's before that) they have a couple of the commentary team based in the pit lane (very different layout to NASCAR), and when an incident like this occurs, one of them gets sent to the team garage to get the story. Although the new F1 champion, Sebastian Vettel, wasn't mentioned by name, the fact the he'd won after never leading before the final race did come up in the commentary. Did I also hear a mention of Michael Schumacher's five F1 titles in a row (2000-04) get mentioned?. I may have imagined it .
  11. It is indeed Jimmie Best. Well done to waikiki and Roger. Q. Which guest actor rehearsed a scene with Sorrell Booke in Japanese (they were both fluent), much to the surprise of Rick Hurst who did his lines in English?.
  12. Let It All Blow - Dazz Band (I see you've still got the NKOTB albums out Garrett )
  13. Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want - The Smiths (A cover of this song by Dream Academy was used in the art gallery scene of Ferris Bueller's Day Off)
