(Dance Mix)Another great track from the '80s (sorry there's no video, but this one had the best audio - the original video is available on YouTube). For those of you who like their music darker and heavier, there's also cover version by .
  3. Open Your Mind - U.S.U.R.A. Back to the early '90s for a classic dance track. The video demonstrates the level of computer animation back then. Fans of music from the '80s may recognize a large sample from Simple Minds' New Gold Dream.
  4. I had exactly the same thought until I tilted my screen forward .
  5. forever (James Bond movie)
  6. Roger, you could win a fortune betting against yourself . No correct answers yet. I'll make it multiple choice - it's two of the following: A) War memorial sign The Boars Nest C) Jesse's pickup D) Old cannon E) General Lee F) Boss's Cadillac G) Gas pump

Here's an unfinished variation of the 'Drive Carefully' billboard from 'Goodbye General Lee'. This one doesn't get destroyed, although the painter ends up on the hood of Cooter's tow truck. The exclamation mark is different in this one and there's also an extra star either side of the 'National Safety Week' text at the top. Lulu (appropriately) gets her own billboard in 'Share and Share Alike':
  9. toil From the witches in Macbeth (Act IV, Scene I): Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
  10. Welcome back Lizzy. I think Granny Annie paid the boys $20, but it was in fake $5 bills, so waikiki was right. Q. At the start of 'Follow That Still', what 2 things does Rosco hit as he tries to park the armored personnel carrier for Boss?.

  12. Thanks for the review DaisyMae. It's unlikely I'll ever to get to one of these concerts, so it's great to have a first-hand account.

  15. That would have made an interesting episode Roger, but I think you misunderstand for comic effect . Besides, when 'Any Which Way You Can' was made Will Smith would have been 11 years old - hardly a fair match-up to Clint in a fight. Waikiki got the right answer. Q. In 'Granny Annie', which denomination of US currency was she forging?.

    Hawaii 5-O

For anyone in the UK and Ireland, according to spoilertv.co.uk the show premieres on satellite channel Sky1 on Sunday 6th February at 9pm.
  17. I wouldn't feel too sorry for the guy. Apparently that was equivalent to 14 days' income, but he said they'd used the wrong year's income to calculate the fine and he got it reduced to $5,245 on appeal. I can't find a definitive answer about what happens to someone with no income, although I did find that fixed fines were used for offenders just over the speed limit. The minimum of these is about $60, so I guess they have to pay that. I found another case from January last year in Switzerland where a repeat speeding offender was caught driving his Ferrari at 85 mph through a village. They must have a similar system to Finland because they assessed his overall wealth ($22.7m) and fined his $290,000. I can't find any reference to an appeal, so I guess he had to pay. This may be beaten by another Swiss case from August last year. A Swedish driver was caught doing 290 km/h (180 mph) in his new Mercedes SLS AMG. He'd avoided a couple of speed cameras by driving too fast for them to photograph him before being pulled over by police with a radar gun. His car was impounded, and he could have to pay 300 days' impound fees, which works out at about $1,000,000 - now that would put a smile on Boss's face . I remember from old episodes of Top Gear and Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld that Switzerland isn't exactly the motorist's friend. From Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld: "I was stopped by the police who were concerned that the V8 engine in my TVR, and especially its Matrix Churchill supergun exhaust system, was too loud. Strange that at no point in the conversation did they say anything about the loaded Kalashnikov [rifle] on the passenger seat." Remember that in the UK, gun ownership is illegal for most people, and tightly controlled for the rest, so that is the point that is being made - loud exhaust vs loaded gun, which is more dangerous?. Other strange Swiss motoring laws include not being allowed to wash your car on a Sunday, and having to carry a spare pair of glasses in your car if you need them for driving.

I think the 'National Saftey Week' banner was just added for comic irony as Rosco demolished the sign. I straightened and merged a couple of screengrabs (all the billboards seem to use the same image), tidied them up and masked out the background. I then let my vector program do an outline trace of the image and added a bit to the color saturation. That produced the image below which (in vector form) contains nearly 400 separate objects: Originally I only intended to use it for the sign on the back of Miz Tisdale's cab, but then I thought of these billboards. As you can see, vector art isn't great at photo-realism and gives a 'solarized' effect when blown up, but it won't go blocky. A couple of hours' work with fountain fills and blends could make it more convincing, but not much fun for me . The advantage of having the image in vector format is that it can be scaled and dropped onto any background.

Shout - Tears For Fears I seem to be stuck in the mid '80s today . This song was released in the UK in 1984 and reached #4 in the charts. It was realeased a year later in the US and reached the #1 spot.
  20. From the 1985 album Little Creatures, it comes with a typically strange video. Bit of trivia for those who don't know: Chris de Burgh's daughter, Rosanna Davison, was born in Dublin, Ireland and was Miss World in 2003.

    Hawaii 5-O

I don't think it's being shown over here yet - I'll keep an eye out for it.
  22. Maybe Boss should move to Finland. Back in 2002 a director of phone company Nokia got fined for speeding on his motorbike - he was doing 75km/h (47 mph) in a 50 km/h (31 mph) zone. In Finland the fines are proportional to income, so his fine was $103,600.
  23. Y'all have great memories. It was Mabel Wooster and a 12 year wait. I know I said I'd finished with guest stars, but I remembered another tie-in between 'Any Which Way You Can' and Dukes. In 'Any Which Way You Can' Clint Eastwood's character (Philo Beddoe) has to fight Jack Wilson played by William Smith. Q. Who did William Smith play in season 4 of Dukes?.

I've been neglecting this thread for a bit while I've been working on the vehicle artwork, so here's the latest addition. It's two of the billboards featuring Boss Hogg. The first is from 'Sadie Hogg Day', I forget which episode the second appeared in - maybe someone can remind me.

    Rosco's Patrol Car

That sounds a bit unbelievable to me, Roger. I bet they were Pittsburgh Steelers signs in your old front yard and you're just trying to wind up Brian by saying they were Packers .
