As Brian said, many of the answers can be found in the Hazzard Square thread. I think Brian also covered the Georgia episodes, so my response relates to the California episodes. To answer the last one first, the Duke Farm moved around about every other season, depending on which ranch they were using for filming. This means that the surrounding area looks very different thoughout the series. There was also a sound stage set of the exterior of the farm. I think all the interior shots of the farm were sets. Moving to Hazzard Square, most of the buildings had interiors that were used for filming. Thanks to research by Mark B we know that the interior of Cooter's was also used in the movies 'The Music Man' and 'The Shootist'. I'm guessing that the sound stages allowed longer filming hours, but it's quite clear that some exterior shots were filmed at night and lit to look like daytime.

Here's a song with a country twang that's named after a US river, so obviously the band is Dutch. Apparently this was a big hit across Europe in 1975, although it wasn't until late 1976 that it spent four weeks at #1 in the UK charts. When I heard it at the weekend it was probably for the first time in over 30 years. Because of this huge gap I was immediately transported back to the '70s - that hard-to-imagine time before Dukes existed .

Thanks for the link CD. This episode has managed to elude me until now. I even borrowed several seasons of Family Guy on DVD from a friend of mine, and this disc was scratched and unwatchable . There's more than just a passing reference to Dukes, and they even got Waylon for one of his last appearances. I also liked the Jeff Foxworthy joke (it wasn't actually Jeff). Before I joined HNet I wouldn't have known who he was. If anyone is unfamiliar with Family Guy's sense of humor, be warned. The DVDs carry a '15' age certificate over here.

If you want to read more about Jerry Rushing's 'Traveler', there's a whole chapter about it in the book The Real Duke of Hazzard: The Jerry Rushing Story. It was bought for just $150 from an auction after it had been confiscated from another moonshiner. It already had upgraded rear suspension and the lower back seat had been removed to allow more space. Jerry's mechanic friend Buck tweaked the stock HEMI to give the car a top speed of over 170 mph. He also added a couple of toggle switches to the dash. The first would turn off all the rear lights, including the reverse lights, so he could back into a building without being seen. The second just cut the brake lights. When the revenuers were chasing him on a twisty road he would brake normally on the first few bends to get the chaser to follow his braking pattern. He'd then flick the switch and brake hard around a sharp bend - the revenuer would realise too late and crash off the road.

Thanks for the reminder Brian. As I said, it's been a while since I watched it. It was hard to get a grab of the '55 Chevy because it's only seen at night or in a dark shed. The car I remembered was the one that Beth Ann Eubanks stole from her step-daddy (the Mississippi sheriff). Uncle Jesse had to make the 'shine run in this car because Grady got things "bass ackwards" and forgot his role in the scheme.

Jerry Rushing's 'Traveler' was a 1958 Chrysler 300D similar to the one below: The car you mention in 'Daisy's Song' was a 1958 Oldsmobile Super 88: Here's what they look like in better condition: I haven't seen 'Moonrunners' for a while, but I thought the main car was a 1971 Chevy Bel Air. I don't recall 'Traveler' appearing in any episode of Dukes, but Jerry Rushing himself appeared as Ace Parker in 'Repo Men'.

Thanks for the birthday wishes y'all. I thought one or two people might remember, but I wasn't expecting my own thread - I'm overwhelmed. I checked Wikipedia and IMDb and I share my birthday with an disparate group. Here's a few: Karl Benz, Jenna & Barbara Bush, Percy Sledge, John F. Kennedy Jr., Joe DiMaggio, Eddie "Crabman" Steeples and Christina Applegate. I've had to be removed more than twice, and I'm sure it won't be the last time . I'm not sure I can still get away with 21. Maybe this year I'll be 25 .

I agree with Alex. If I remember correctly, it places Hazzard somewhere in Puerto Rico!.

Still on 'Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke', as Boss starts to tear down Cooter's signage he has a table full of blueprints, but none are shown any closer than here. I wonder if they were the blueprints for Cooter's. When the 'Office' sign is removed you can see that the outline of the license plates is still visible underneath (they were moved to beside the door a couple of seasons back when the 'Hazzard Garage' sign was lowered). This is also the best look inside the office that we get. I think the support beam is just visible above the center of the knocked-down door.

Nice videos Mark, I missed these when I posted '76 Trombones' from 'The Music Man' in the Hazzard Square thread the other week. The place looks so different, and there's an extra partition wall in the back right corner of Cooter's/Squires'. The design of the Rhuebottom's building is pretty much as it appeared in 'The Shootist" - the store front must have been added in the late '70s, which explains why it looks so clean in 'Luke's Love Story'. I think I figured out what they did with the office. They took the plan for three sides (including the door and window on the unseen side that's visible in 'The Shootist') and wrapped them around two sides of the model. Seeing as you haven't got this far yet, here's a few more pictures of the models. I'd say they're not far off your 1:64 model above. Cooter's is the model nearest to Boss. I've stitched this together from three grabs. It shows most of Boss's planned stores. As you can see, the model style is completely different - no doubt because there were no blueprints for these. Here's a close-up of the last of the new stores and one of the original houses. Finally, here's the police station/county building.

I was watching 'Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke' earlier when I realized that Boss Hogg beat you to making a scale model of Cooter's. Judging by this close-up, it's not terribly accurate. The overall shape is right but there's an extra window on the office next to a very narrow door, and the center window has shrunk and acquired shutters. Additionally, there's small writing on many of the walls. It looks like it says "Lacey Squires Proprietor" above the "Service" sign, but the rest is unreadable. This section of the model gets replaced by Boss's colorful fast food outlets. The only other building we get to see in detail is the police station/county building when Boss rests on it to sign a check at the end of the episode.

Great work Alex. I know from experience that the Jeep eagle isn't easy to get right.

While we're on car commercials, the twist at the end of this current Renault advert amuses me: The girl is French actress/model Margaux Van Den Plas, so I guess that explains the dodgy English dialog dubbing.

Here's the raised General from 'Arrest Jesse Duke', and the front of the General from the scene you mentioned in 'Comrade Duke'. In the first one the silvery gray marks are outside the narrow pushbar. In the second they are inside the wider pushbar design. From a quick Google search it appears that the pushbars in the show were usually welded directly to the front bumper (most of the time they didn't need any real strength). Apparently this isn't recommended for people building replicas - maybe someone who owns a replica can comment on this. I'm guessing that the chrome finish on the bumper had been destroyed by having a different sized pushbar welded to it, and the silvery gray patches are a 'quick fix' paint job to cover this up.

It sounds more like that sort of thing that would happen to Rosco . I hope he gets well soon. Maybe you can ask him to stop by at HazzardNet while he's recovering.

Thanks Alex. The original Boar's Nest is at that address in Georgia. You can check it out on Google Maps. Last time I checked, it was a church - there's a fairly recent picture below. I really chose to concentrate this thread on the California filming locations because HazzardNet member Wekke already has a great webpage about the Georgia locations used in the first five episodes. It includes 'then and now' pictures from his visit there. Unfortunately the page seems to be down at the moment (it was working last week) - I will post a link if it becomes available again. I can post Google Maps links to a few of the other Georgia locations if anyone wants them.

You have a lot of work ahead of you, but you're making amazing progress already. They did something similar on the first season of 'Street Customs' ('Custom My Ride' in the UK) when they fitted a '68 Charger body to a new Charger chassis for actor Gary Dourdan (see below). It was a nice idea, but I can't say I share his taste in cars. If it were mine I'd change the wheels and the color. It also had the interior from the new car which just looked wrong. It looks like you're going down the path I'd choose if I had the money and skill to attempt a project like this. That 2008 floorpan looks a bit more solid than the 1969 one . Keep up the good work.

Don't know what was up with nascar.com tonight. I went off during the final rain caution and checked to see if I'd missed anything when I returned. The mini lap-by-lap ticker on the leaderboard page said that the checkered flag had come down at lap 200, shortly after Danica Patrick hit the wall. Was this accidentally copied from a Nationwide race or something?. The leaderboard also had Carl Edwards a point behind at the end instead of level. I'm sure it wasn't the result everyone wanted (although I think TRPColtrane will be happy), but I enjoyed the closing laps.

I knew this one, and Brian beat me to it. The flowers sure did get passed around a lot, but it was Cooter's birthday.

I had to Brian, and I have to say, I'm disappointed. Where's the funny wordplay title that used to go along with these parodies (e.g. Forrest Hump, Everybody Does Raymond, The Pourne Identity, Missionary Impossible, American Booty etc.). Surely they could've thought of another five-letter word beginning with 'D' and ending with 'S' to substitute in the title instead of just adding "a hardcore parody". On the positive side, the casting doesn't look any worse than the 2005 movie . When are we starting this new thread Mufn?.

Saw it at the cinema with a friend of mine who's also a big fan of the original movie. It's not a great movie, but worth seeing for the musician cameos (someone needs to give Eric Clapton some acting lessons - just in case the music thing doesn't work out ), and the obligatory multi-vehicle pile-up (skip to 2:40 for the Blues Brothers 2000 crashes) that made the 2000 Guinness Book of World Records for having the most car crashes in a motion picture. What else can I say except "They broke my watch" .
