  1. I was going to go for D) or D) but I'll go for C) instead. Speaking of the DVD collection, did Kim seek out Kanye and seeing 'Go West, Young Kardashian' .
  2. Big Bang Theory See a Penny, pick her up, and all the day you'll have good luck.
  3. I wish you'd posted this just over 31 years ago so I could enter the competition. Don't try to use excuses like you hadn't been born or that the World Wide Web wouldn't exist for another seven years .
  4. catcher (from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) in case y'all don't recognize him )
  5. Thanks for passing on the sad news, Mufn. I've just been checking out his IMDb page. His last role was as the voice of Principal Moss on 'King of the Hill' (I watched early episodes before it moved to a channel I don't have), but his last on-screen roles were in 'My Name is Earl'. Here's a grab from each of his three appearances between 2005 and 2008: Randy's Touchdown (Season 1, Episode 3) as 'Impound Owner'. Number One (Season 1, Episode 24) as 'Roy Wade'. Sold a Guy a Lemon Car (Season 4, Episode 9) as 'Junkyard Owner'. There's an article about Dennis on Today.com that mentions Dukes among his many acting roles.
  6. Well done K-Duke - it is Lurene Tuttle aka. Granny Annie. Roger, I believe the old-timer called it a '68 coupe.
  7. According to the Urban Dictionary, it's a "redneck gathering [that] usually involves shouting catchy phrases like 'yee-haw'." I can't quote some of their other definitions on these pages . Wikipedia describes it as "a type of American folk dance or square dance in duple meter, and also the musical form associated with it."

The guy at the beginning of your song doesn't need to worry about if I ain't got no money, because here it is . Money - The Flying Lizards
  9. More's the pity . Eurythmics aren't known for their acoustic songs, but when you can sing like Annie Lennox, you don't need any more than an acoustic guitar as backing. This version, that sounds like a live performance, is exactly how it appeared on the 1987 album 'Savage' (with a little applause added at the end). I Need You - Eurythmics
  10. I hadn't even noticed there was a tree in the picture .

I've just posted a one-hit-wonder in Musical Chairs, so here's another. This song brings back memories of summer in the '80s - I just didn't realize it was as old as 1983! Tantalise - Jimmy the Hoover Despite the caption in the video spelling it "Tantalize", they were a British group, so it's "Tantalise" .
  12. This isn't a behind-the-scenes picture, but it is contemporary with the final season. I was only doing a general Dukes search when I came across this picture of Cathy that I'd never seen before: The photo credit says it was taken in 1985 by Harry Langdon, but I have no other info.
  13. I should've gone with my gut instinct and said Donna Fargo, but it's too late now . Here's a quick one for y'all. When I was reading about the history of Los Angeles the other day, one of the contibutors said that his parents took him to the famous Brown Derby restaurant for his 7th birthday in 1957. One of the famous diners his parents pointed out to him was the lady below, and I knew I recognized her name from Dukes. Can you name either the actress or the part she played when she guest-starred in Dukes? She would have been around 50 years old when she was spotted at the Brown Derby. I'll narrow it down to a season if y'all get stuck.
  14. Here's a catchy song from 1998 from a band that turned out to be a one hit wonder: You Get What You Give - New Radicals

All five members of NKOTB on an elevated platform in a video titled 'Crash' ... and then it turns out to be a song - of course I'm disappointed . Lullaby - The Cure

Isn't 'Jealous (Blue)' two words? I suppose we've still got 'Crash' to look forward to! This group called their best-of album 'Supergrass is 10' because it was a retrospective of their first 10 years. It makes far more sense than calling your album '10' because when it's your 6th studio album . Alright - Supergrass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUE4oDunYkc
  17. I see the boys still shy away from the writing side of the business. Donnie Wahlberg was one of three writers on 'Miss You More' and Joey McIntyre was one of four writers on 'Back to Life' and 'Now or Never', but that's it. Two of the writers on 'Survive You' are from the soon-to-split-up British band JLS (they came second in the 2008 series on 'The X-Factor'), and a third member of JLS co-wrote 'We Own the Night'. Here's some proper music from 1964. The performance is taken from the popular (and still running) children's TV show 'Blue Peter'. You just don't see dancing like this anymore . You Were Made For Me - Freddie & The Dreamers
  18. I quite liked the first 45 seconds of the video, but then they went and spoiled it by starting the song. Remix (I Don't Like The) . Love Me Like You - The Magic Numbers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTrWbcluI_4
  19. I don't think you get this comparison idea - you're meant to pick two versions of the same song by different artists. Pick one of yours, and I'll put up Weird Al. (I know the contest is unfair, but I am giving you a chance to pick which NKOTB version gets beaten .) The White Stuff - "Weird Al" Yankovic
  20. Surely "the best driver on the track" doesn't get frustrated and tired . I'm sorry I left out the Gordon/Menard incident, but I missed the start of it and only caught the end of the replay.
  21. This was originally an Allen Toussaint song, but I'm going for the cover by Little Feat's Lowell George from his solo album, 'Thanks I'll Eat It Here'. What Do You Want the Girl To Do - Lowell George For those of you who've read my Tower of Song thread, you'll know that I listen to a radio show that pits two versions of the same song against each other. This song was featured last week, and the other version was the one below (although I could only find the live version at a decent quality): What Do You Want the Boy To Do - Bonnie Raitt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Owy9K0Vdn28 I couldn't put this one first because it doesn't have "girl" in the title .
  22. A lot of the credit for the friendly atmosphere is down to MeadowMufn and her original deputies. As time goes on, we all play a part, but Mufn has been there when someone crosses the line. Even the HNet Facebook page doesn't have nearly the same feel to it. I think a lull is to be expected when Dukes isn't on TV. Facebook and Twitter have also changed the way that some people get their information nowadays, but a forum is different. I'm currently engrossed in a fascinating thread about the history of Los Angeles and its buildings on another forum. The wealth of information that the body of contributors bring to it is better than any book or single-authored website could ever be, and the same is true of this forum. I've just passed my third anniversary on HNet, and I think there have only been about five occasions where there was a 24 hour period with no new posts, and many days there are a dozen or more. I don't think that's bad going after 14 years online. We have to admit that, especially since the series came out on DVD, most of the regular questions people have about Dukes have now been answered. Added to that, forums always have "lurkers" who read posts and don't bother signing up. I've done it myself on other forums unless I feel the need to contribute. Including non-members, there are regularly between 100 and 150 people on the forum during US daytime - that's not far off what it was when I joined (admittedly I missed the early years, and the period when the movies came out). It's great to see that Roger's restarted the trivia thread - I only gave up asking questions due to lack of participation. That's an area where we do need signed-in members. Overall, I don't see the future as doom and gloom. If someone started airing the show again, it would certainly help, but as long as the current members hang around (and we pick up a few more along the way), we should be OK.
  23. I found an article on DutchNews.nl (it's in English) that says they pulled out of the Netherlands in 2009. It also says they were active in the country since 1983, even though Toys R Us' website claims they only started international expansion in 1984, starting with Canada. Apologies for the hideous name-drop, but Tom Sarmento showed CDoherty and myself some pictures of this car at the weekend. I promise that I won't go on about meeting CDoherty .
  24. There's some Family Feud screengrabs in the trivia thread - you can see them here. The Toys R Us name first appeared in the US in 1957 (thanks Wikipedia ). They came to the UK back in 1985, and I seem to remember nagging my parents to take me to one (I'd been to one in the US in 1983).
  25. I'm assuming they mean either the molds for the parts or a machine that assembles the models, but as they're made in China they may be assembled by hand using cheap labor.
