I quite liked the first 45 seconds of the video, but then they went and spoiled it by starting the song. Remix (I Don't Like The) . Love Me Like You - The Magic Numbers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTrWbcluI_4

I don't think you get this comparison idea - you're meant to pick two versions of the same song by different artists. Pick one of yours, and I'll put up Weird Al. (I know the contest is unfair, but I am giving you a chance to pick which NKOTB version gets beaten .) The White Stuff - "Weird Al" Yankovic

Surely "the best driver on the track" doesn't get frustrated and tired . I'm sorry I left out the Gordon/Menard incident, but I missed the start of it and only caught the end of the replay.

This was originally an Allen Toussaint song, but I'm going for the cover by Little Feat's Lowell George from his solo album, 'Thanks I'll Eat It Here'. What Do You Want the Girl To Do - Lowell George For those of you who've read my Tower of Song thread, you'll know that I listen to a radio show that pits two versions of the same song against each other. This song was featured last week, and the other version was the one below (although I could only find the live version at a decent quality): What Do You Want the Boy To Do - Bonnie Raitt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Owy9K0Vdn28 I couldn't put this one first because it doesn't have "girl" in the title .

A lot of the credit for the friendly atmosphere is down to MeadowMufn and her original deputies. As time goes on, we all play a part, but Mufn has been there when someone crosses the line. Even the HNet Facebook page doesn't have nearly the same feel to it. I think a lull is to be expected when Dukes isn't on TV. Facebook and Twitter have also changed the way that some people get their information nowadays, but a forum is different. I'm currently engrossed in a fascinating thread about the history of Los Angeles and its buildings on another forum. The wealth of information that the body of contributors bring to it is better than any book or single-authored website could ever be, and the same is true of this forum. I've just passed my third anniversary on HNet, and I think there have only been about five occasions where there was a 24 hour period with no new posts, and many days there are a dozen or more. I don't think that's bad going after 14 years online. We have to admit that, especially since the series came out on DVD, most of the regular questions people have about Dukes have now been answered. Added to that, forums always have "lurkers" who read posts and don't bother signing up. I've done it myself on other forums unless I feel the need to contribute. Including non-members, there are regularly between 100 and 150 people on the forum during US daytime - that's not far off what it was when I joined (admittedly I missed the early years, and the period when the movies came out). It's great to see that Roger's restarted the trivia thread - I only gave up asking questions due to lack of participation. That's an area where we do need signed-in members. Overall, I don't see the future as doom and gloom. If someone started airing the show again, it would certainly help, but as long as the current members hang around (and we pick up a few more along the way), we should be OK.

I found an article on DutchNews.nl (it's in English) that says they pulled out of the Netherlands in 2009. It also says they were active in the country since 1983, even though Toys R Us' website claims they only started international expansion in 1984, starting with Canada. Apologies for the hideous name-drop, but Tom Sarmento showed CDoherty and myself some pictures of this car at the weekend. I promise that I won't go on about meeting CDoherty .

I'm assuming they mean either the molds for the parts or a machine that assembles the models, but as they're made in China they may be assembled by hand using cheap labor.

I mentioned in the first post of this thread that Autoworld were planning to release a 1:18 version of Daisy's Road Runner this summer. The latest news I can find says that the tooling needs to be fixed, so the provisional release date has been put back to the end of 2013. If I get a confirmed date I'll post it here.

The Official Dukes of Hazzard Trivia Thread
HossC replied to Meadowmufn's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Trivia
I agree with Roth that it was Mickey Gilley. I think 1982 would've been a great time to employ Taylor Swift. At seven years before she was born, maybe we wouldn't have been subjected to her whining in song about the poor choices she makes in her love life!- 3,820 replies

I thought Garrett might post the results last night, but, since I had a few minutes to spare, I thought I'd do it myself. Kurt Busch led most laps (102), but got into a wreck with Ryan Newman around lap 230. Tony Stewart led 84 laps, but ran out of fuel at the end, and came home as the last car in the lead lap. The race ended with a green-white-checkered-flag finish, and the surprise winner was Brian Vickers, the part-time driver with Michael Waltrip Racing. Jimmie Johnson didn't let starting from the back get in the way of a top ten finish, eventually coming home in 6th. Ricky was progressing nicely at around 20th for most of the race until Danica took him and Travis Kvapil out on lap 237. There were several other spins and small crashes, but nothing on the scale of last week's race. 1. Brian Vickers 2. Kyle Busch 3. Jeff Burton 4. Brad Keselowski 5. Aric Almirola 6. Jimmie Johnson 7. Kevin Harvick 8. Carl Edwards 9. Matt Kenseth 10. Jeff Gordon 11. Kasey Kahne 12. Jamie McMurray 13. Clint Bowyer 14. Dale Earnhardt Jr. 15. Greg Biffle, Ford 16. Martin Truex Jr. 17. Paul Menard 18. David Gilliland 19. David Ragan 20. David Stremme 21. Denny Hamlin 22. A J Allmendinger 23. Dave Blaney 24. Juan Pablo Montoya 25. Joe Nemechek 26. Tony Stewart 27. Bobby Labonte 28. David Reutimann 29. J.J. Yeley 30. Ken Schrader 31. Kurt Busch 32. Landon Cassill 33. Marcos Ambrose 34. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 35. Josh Wise 36. Casey Mears 37. Danica Patrick 38. Travis Kvapil 39. Ryan Newman 40. Joey Logano 41. Morgan Shepherd 42. Michael McDowell 43. Mike Bliss

The Cedar City Fair Grounds parking lot was behind the block where the bank is, just off the top left corner of my recent aerial picture. The building in your animation is at the end of Western Street, and was seen in quite a few episodes. Rosco even went inside it to spy on the Dukes in 'Route 7-11'. I guess it survived because it blocked the end of the street nicely. It's since been replaced by a much larger building. The parking lot where Mexican Street used to be was in 'Southern Comfurts' (see below). On the left you can see the back of the building at the end of Western Street. Both the Mexican Street parking lot and the one below it have now been repaced by offices (you can briefly see the lower one playing a hospital during the chase in the 'Hazzard in Hollywood' movie), with parking moved to a new structure just south of Forest Lawn Drive. I think you're mixing up your Stovalls. The man who lost his money on the casino truck in 'Route 7-11' was Dewey Stovall. The man on the right is Bill Erwin who played Clarence Stovall in 'The Great Bank Robbery'. Boss cheated him out of his pension by firing him the day before he retired, so he robbed to bank to make up for it. If you look in the background, the 'Office' sign on Cooter's was higher up in earlier seasons and there were license plates over the door.

Here's an aerial view from 1980. Western Street was right next to Midwest(ern) Street, behind the row of houses containing Boss Hogg's house. Mexican Street was already a parking lot by 1980 (as can be seen in 'Southern Comfurts') - it was torn down sometime in the mid-70s. Laramie street was over on the eastern side of the lot. In the Hazzard Square thread there's pictures of Western Street from 'The Hack of Hazzard' and pictures of Western Street from 'The Invaders' episode 'The Miracle'.

Welcome to HNet Roy. I'm glad you liked the buildings. I have only done artwork for the Boar's Nest signs so far. The Boar's Nest itself doesn't have too much detail compared to some of the others, so it should be easy enough. Have you seen Mark B.'s 1:25 scale model of Cooter's Garage? I'd love to know if he ever finished it.

When I posted the starting lineup I was under the impression that JJ had passed the second inspection and everything was fine. I think the difference between this issue and the roof flaps is that JJ qualified with an illegal car whereas the 31 last week all fixed their cars before qualifying. It's still a tough decision to take when it's your driver - at least JG moves up to 5th .

I've never heard of Peggy Rea wearing a fat suit. Here's a picture from nearly 10 years after Dukes when she was in 'Grace Under Fire' (I downloaded this so long ago that I've forgotten the source).

Just Another Day In Ireland
HossC replied to CDoherty95's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
I'm English and grew up in the UK, but have lived in Ireland for nearly 10 years. I'll have to leave CDoherty to answer your question about the General Lee because I didn't see it. We discussed so much that I'll have to try and remember all the things that Tom said. I'll sure we'll be posting some of them, so watch this space . -
Just Another Day In Ireland
HossC replied to CDoherty95's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
I only got the message late last night, and initially thought that it sounded like a long to go (I live more than twice as far away as CDoherty). Then, as the magnitude of the opportunity I'd be missing began to sink in, I decided to go. Libby pretty much left us to it, and we spent several hours listening to Tom's great behind-the-scenes stories. There were stories about how stunts were done, how the cars were set up, stunts that went wrong, and the odd tidbit about the stars of the show. Tom is such a nice guy, and really down-to-earth. I'd also like to thank Libby for opening her home to a pair of strangers. As to the phone call, Tom's phone rang sometime between 6 and 7pm. I think CDoherty and I looked at each other in disbelief when we heard him greet the caller. It was none other than Don Pedro Colley aka. Sheriff Little, and he very generously let both of us speak to him. He also seems like a cool guy. That leaves a lot of thanks for me to give: to Tom for his time, to Libby for letting us invade her house, to Don Pedro for talking to us, and to CDoherty for inviting me along - thanks to all of you . -
Well, qualifying for the Camping World RV Sales 301 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway has just finished. I didn't see all of it, but I believe all of the top ten broke the lap record. Jimmie Johnson failed initial inspection because of some problem with his car's side skirt and had to go through a second inspection before qualifying out of turn. Morgan Shepherd is set to become the oldest Sprint Cup driver at the age of 71. Only eight of the other drivers had been born when he made his debut. David Stremme had some kind of problem, but I only tuned in as he was coming back to pit lane, so I missed what was up. Here's the provisional starting order: 1 Brad Keselowski 2 Jimmie Johnson 3 Kurt Busch 4 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 5 Kyle Busch 6 Jeff Gordon 7 Carl Edwards 8 Denny Hamlin 9 Kasey Kahne 10 Jeff Burton 11 Juan Pablo Montoya 12 Jamie McMurray 13 Matt Kenseth 14 Brian Vickers 15 Paul Menard 16 Ryan Newman 17 Tony Stewart 18 Aric Almirola 19 Kevin Harvick 20 Martin Truex Jr. 21 Clint Bowyer 22 Marcos Ambrose 23 Greg Biffle 24 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 25 David Gilliland 26 AJ Allmendinger 27 Joey Logano 28 David Reutimann 29 Casey Mears 30 David Ragan 31 Michael McDowell 32 Travis Kvapil 33 Danica Patrick 34 Bobby Labonte 35 Mike Bliss 36 Josh Wise 37 Landon Cassill 38 Ken Schrader 39 Joe Nemechek 40 Dave Blaney 41 J.J. Yeley 42 Morgan Shepherd 43 David Stremme The race starts at 01:00 PM ET on Sunday.

I saw someone on TV this week say "you know you're getting old when someone your age dies and it's no longer described as a tragedy." I'd love to give them credit, but I've forgotten who it was - another sign I'm getting old .

There were a few times when Cooter towed the General back to Hazzard Square after crashes/situations further afield. It's been a while since I've watched seasons 3 and 4, so I'm afraid I can't give you much more to go on. Nice courthouse picture - is that the 'Reunion' Boar's Nest (below) on the right?. From memory, I think the Coffin Works appeared in three episodes. For those of y'all who haven't made it all the way through the Hazzard Square thread, you can find the section on Laramie Street (including the church and Heavenly Acres) here.

Thanks for the update - I'd forgotten the possibility of penalties was hanging over all those drivers. But it wouldn't be NASCAR if they were consistent with their penalties. What else do you want, right turns?
