    One Word Song Titles

Apart from a couple of brief, heavy thunder storms, we've had two or three weeks of sunny weather here, so it got me thinking of summer songs. This is another one-hit-wonder, and it topped the UK charts for a week in 1975. All that remains is for me to welcome you aboard Coconut Airways flight 372 to Bridgetown, Barbados. Barbados - Typically Tropical Just for Roth, the song was covered/re-worked in 1998 by Dutch dance band Vengaboys. Their version was called (they use a very dubious pronunciation of Ibiza).

I wasn't aware that dogs followed baseball, although, after watching 'The Big Bang Theory', I knew they liked football: (Leonard is wearing a huge football jersey) Leonard: What’s wrong with a football jersey? Sheldon: Nothing. That, however, appears to be a football cocktail dress. Leonard: It’s the smallest size they had, except the one for dogs. I can’t believe they had one for dogs. Sheldon: Oh, yes. Canine football fans are a common sight in Texas. Cats, however, refuse to wear sporting apparel. My sister found that out the hard way. I'm not going to judge you on the websites you visit, but it may explain why your computer keeps getting viruses .
  3. I agree with Roth about the first two answers (chicken and Daisy). I'm sure Amos Stigger was the crop-duster in 'Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough', but they used someone different here. Roth is probably right about Darcy too, but I'll go with Sam Crenshaw just to be different.
  4. I wonder if the person who drew this had ever seen what Bo and Luke look like, or were they just described over the phone. On another issue, I never understood why all the models of Cooter's tow truck have an all red rear section. The inside was red, but the outside was mainly white. It was 'Witness for the Persecution' from season 2 that originally aired in the US on November 16, 1979. The two-part Dallas that aired the same night was from season 3, and imaginatively titled 'Mastectomy'.

I'll pop over to your parents' house at the weekend and have a look .
  6. I just tried to reply to your PM and got a message saying your inbox is full. Let me know when you clear it out :).

The channel started out in July 1995 as the Outdoor Life Network (OLN). It was relaunched as Versus in September 2006. After Comcast merged its channels with those of NBC, and to reflect the new sports programming, the channel became NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) on January 2, 2012. You can read all about them here.
  8. Sorry Roger, I saw the question really late at night and decided to sleep on it. The only problem was that I forgot about it in the morning . I still can't remember, so I'll guess at King Kong (are you sure it wasn't Britney? ).
  9. I think it's about time we had some more funk in this thread. I've listened to several covers, but the 1972 original is my favorite. Use Me - Bill Withers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohiievrMRCY
  10. Thanks for the link. It looks like it's a Firefox issue because the image displays fine in Explorer and Chrome. I'll have to do some more investigating unless anyone knows of a solution.
  11. I'd guess that FJM is just the name of an Ebay seller. The outfits are the same as this well-known image: I say "well-known" because it used to be part of the old HNet header: Another picture of Daisy on her own, again in the same outfit, shows the General without the door number, so I'd agree that this is an early photoshoot. By the pattern on Daisy's belt, I'd say that your picture has been mirrored. BTW. Your last image doesn't show up for me, and tells me that it contains errors when I try to load it directly.
  12. I'll have to take Roth's word for the Spongebob question as I've never watched it. Amusingly, it's one if the children's shows that gets translated into Irish to get the kids into the language:
  13. It's from Canada (confirmed by the New Brunswick address that can just be read on the coupon).
  14. It must be the early days because later on he could no longer afford a guitar .
  15. I'll let Roger tell you what's inside, because I don't have any of them, but they do come up for sale quite regularly on Ebay in the UK (I checked the Dutch Ebay, but they were all UK sellers): Ebay UK search for "dukes of hazzard annual" (NB. this is a link to a search, so results will vary)
  16. I was going to go for D) or D) but I'll go for C) instead. Speaking of the DVD collection, did Kim seek out Kanye and seeing 'Go West, Young Kardashian' .
  17. Big Bang Theory See a Penny, pick her up, and all the day you'll have good luck.
  18. I wish you'd posted this just over 31 years ago so I could enter the competition. Don't try to use excuses like you hadn't been born or that the World Wide Web wouldn't exist for another seven years .
  19. catcher (from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) in case y'all don't recognize him )
  20. Thanks for passing on the sad news, Mufn. I've just been checking out his IMDb page. His last role was as the voice of Principal Moss on 'King of the Hill' (I watched early episodes before it moved to a channel I don't have), but his last on-screen roles were in 'My Name is Earl'. Here's a grab from each of his three appearances between 2005 and 2008: Randy's Touchdown (Season 1, Episode 3) as 'Impound Owner'. Number One (Season 1, Episode 24) as 'Roy Wade'. Sold a Guy a Lemon Car (Season 4, Episode 9) as 'Junkyard Owner'. There's an article about Dennis on Today.com that mentions Dukes among his many acting roles.
  21. Well done K-Duke - it is Lurene Tuttle aka. Granny Annie. Roger, I believe the old-timer called it a '68 coupe.
  22. According to the Urban Dictionary, it's a "redneck gathering [that] usually involves shouting catchy phrases like 'yee-haw'." I can't quote some of their other definitions on these pages . Wikipedia describes it as "a type of American folk dance or square dance in duple meter, and also the musical form associated with it."

The guy at the beginning of your song doesn't need to worry about if I ain't got no money, because here it is . Money - The Flying Lizards
  24. More's the pity . Eurythmics aren't known for their acoustic songs, but when you can sing like Annie Lennox, you don't need any more than an acoustic guitar as backing. This version, that sounds like a live performance, is exactly how it appeared on the 1987 album 'Savage' (with a little applause added at the end). I Need You - Eurythmics
