  1. OCTOLINE

One of the fake company logos that appeared on race suits in the show. It was very similar to the Castrol Oil logo.

NANCYLOU - Played by Kim Richards in Cooter's Girl.  She was also in James at 16.  Her sister Kyle Richards played Lindsey Wallace in the original Halloween in 1978.  Halloween is actually my favorite movie.

I've never heard of 'James at 16' - I checked it out on IMDb, but I don't think it was shown in the UK (the only countries in Europe with release dates are Germany and Italy). Kim and Kyle appeared two separate, consecutive episodes of 'CHiPs' the year before Kim was in Dukes.

  2. :previous: Good song.

This is a acid jazz cover of a Stevie Wonder song from 1992. It was successful across Europe, but I don't know if it was released in the US. The driving scenes were filmed around Camden in north London.

Sometimes language can be confusing. Hoss calls soccer, football. I wonder if he calls NASCAR football too. I mean, they do tackle each after races sometimes. Enjoy the race everybody.

What you call football is the third or fourth sport known as football over here. The first two are soccer and Gaelic, and the third and fourth are American football and Aussie rules. The Super Bowl was widely covered over here, and some people took the Monday off work to watch it, but Rihanna's pregnancy was probably bigger news than the result.

Did you know that the lady that was in this episode was the actress who played Mary Kay in Mary Kay's baby?? I think this is right, someone correct me if I'm wrong

You're right. Jeannie Wilson played Mary Kaye in 'Mary Kaye's Baby' and Laura Bardsley in 'Treasure of Hazzard'. It's easy to miss as her hair changes from blonde to brunette.

Also, as you go through the seasons, you'll see that Doris Dowling, who appears as Stacy Williams in 'Treasure of Hazzard', comes back as Jenny in 'Go West, Young Dukes'.

Did some test driving Friday. Drove a Buick Regal tourx. Those are rare and since the wife is getting the new car I figured I got to take the chance to drive one since one showed up at a local dealer for sale. It handled great for it's size.

In Europe this is the Opel (Vauxhall in the UK) Insignia Country Tourer. The sedans are reasonably popular here.

  6. Following on from my last F1 post, Red Bull confirmed a tie-up with Ford to supply engines from 2026.

The F1 teams are currently launching their 2023 cars ahead of pre-season testing in Bahrain in a couple of weeks.

Hopefully that'll enable us to move on to happier news after a few recent controversies. All the drivers have expressed concern that the FIA (the sport's governing body) have prohibited "personal, religious and political statements" by drivers without written consent. It might also be the end of the pro-diversity 'We Race As One' campaign that F1 has promoted since 2020. The FIA president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, is also stepping back from direct involvement in the sport after trying to control aerodynamic changes to cars himself, commenting on financial matters and the discovery of misogynistic comments on a historic website of his.

Roll on the return to racing!

I never understood why they felt the need to build the Coliseum or what their fascination is with it...take it dirt track at Bristol. I'd be all for that.  Just not for the publicity stunt they are throwing around now...

Los Angeles will be hosting the Olympics again in 2028. Although the Coliseum was built in 1923, it was an iconic venue for the previous games in 1932 and 1984, so maybe it's a bit of early publicity. However, it doesn't look that well suited to NASCAR racing.

It's a shame they closed the Riverside Raceway in California (as seen in footage in 'Undercover Dukes'). That closed in 1989 and held its last NASCAR race a year earlier. The site is now covered by housing and a shopping mall.

As for KR...I have the original Universal season DVD sets, and the Mill Creek Blu-ray set from a few years ago. However, all of those are syndicated reruns (as that’s what Universal has used for a lot of their older shows when first releasing them to DVD). But, this new 40th Anniversary Blu-ray set by Turbine is SUPERB! It has original uncut episodes, by far out-does even Mill Creek’s Blu-ray quality, and is probably the BEST Blu-ray release ever, that I’ve seen so far! It’s also REGION FREE, and can be played anywhere world wide!

But, it is expensive! However, the special features, tons of memorabilia included in it, the programming & quality of programming, etc...do somewhat justify a higher price. The box it comes in is huge, too...it’s not your standard Blu-ray series size. It’s not a budget release by any means.  My credit card may hate me :-P, but I’m loving this KR set! :banana:If DOH and Miami Vice could get this treatment by Turbine as well, I’d ball like a baby with joy, lol!

    I've just checked out Turbine's website - it's a cool looking set, but €200 (approx. $213 at today's rates)!

Thanks Hoss. We are talking about it on a motorcycle forum.

Roger, here are the bikes and trikes which appear on IMCDb's Dukes of Hazzard page. I've listed them alphabetically and added the episodes they appeared in. They're normally pretty good at identification on IMCDb, but not completely infallible.

Well with the Super Bowl this weekend, thought I'd share this one...

I liked that, although I don't we had it over here seeing as it's American football based. Here's a Snickers advert we did have which featured Mr. Bean.

  11. I thought I'd take a break from using this thread for obituaries and post some new music. I'm slightly cheating here as the full title is 'Lionheart (Fearless)' by Joel Corry & Tom Grennan, but the radio DJs just call it 'Lionheart'.

Despite being an original tune, it has a great '90s dance vibe to it - very reminiscent of songs like 'Encore Une Fois' by Sash!.

I don't know...I wasn't as hyped up or as excited about it as I was before the race. I am sure Chase being stuck in the back had something to deal with it, but I also felt like NASCAR was trying to gain more a different crowd base or something. They had what seemed to be a halftime show with a rapper singing (if you call that singing) I couldn't really understand what he was saying other than a few lines about how white girls like him or something like that.

The rapper was Wiz Khalifa. While I've heard of him, I don't know his music. NASCAR is obviously looking to expand its audience (seeing as its traditional audience is waning), but the reviews I've read are very mixed. The crowd seemed to enjoy the show, but USC had a stand there, so I'm not surprised that it went over well with their students. Personally, I didn't mind the performance, but the concept of having a halftime show in the middle of a race is completely alien to me. Fair enough in football, soccer, rugby or sports that have a natural break, but I can't imagine having an F1 race interrupted by seven minutes of music.
